Working with legendary guitarist and multitrack recording inventor Les Paul, Gibson created the first Les Paul model with a distinctive mahogany body profile and a beautiful carved maple top that mimicked the look of Gibson’s archtop guitars.
Since then, Gibson has vastly expanded the Les Paul line, adding innovations such as the humbucker pickup and Tune-O-Matic bridge—features that are now industry standards.
