OVERVIEW

A drummer's best friend.

The Tama Rhythm Watch is the first metronome to give drummers the special features they require. And it has enough volume so you can play with real drums.

The large display is easy to read during performance, and there's a large dial for quick tempo adjustments. Choose from 2 different sounds. 20 different memory settings can be recalled instantly. Red and green LEDs offer visual reinforcement. Volumes for quarter notes, eighth notes, and triplets can be set individually for different rhythm patterns. Tap function lets you find the tempo by simply tapping the START/TAP button.

The only "problem" I have with this machine is that it's advertisement stated that it "has enough volume to play openly with acoustic drums".
I found that even with good earbuds the volume of this machine still won't quite cut it. I've pretty much just had to watch the blinking lights which does work out pretty well. However, I would still recommend this unit for practicing your rudiments and keeping your guitar players in check!(You know how they can be!)

I've had this metronome for several years. I've had some minor problems with it, namely the temperamental start/tap button. I have it mounted on my hi-hat stand and start/tap is prone to triggering when I play with my foot, yet I've had trouble getting it to work when I'm pushing it intentionally with my finger. You have to go through all 20 memory settings, even if you haven?t programed them all, to get back to the beginning. Plus, the memory button doesn't work while a pedal is plugged in. I've also come to dislike the tempo knob, as it's difficult to fine-tune the tempo while playing. Its simplicity is a good thing for most drummers most of the time. But forget about compound time signatures or really doing anything beyond simple time keeping and beat mixing. It can store multiple tempos/beats, but there's no way to program it to loop amongst them. The Boss DB-60 is a cheaper and more capable metronome, but it's also less user friendly.

Comments about Tama Rhythm Watch:

This is a cool gadget, I use it as part of my rig since i have a in-ear setup the (speaker) volume is not an issue for me.
The only draw back is the 2 options for click sounds but otherwise, it has induvidual volumes for all parameters, this is a good feature esp when you are practising those odd signatures,
you can program 30 tempos so no dialing in... I have my set list one after the other. Ofcourse if you miss one you have to go all the way to the end, (i do a quick off/on) :-)
The back light and the blinking tempo leds are helpful
I had a few choices for my upgrade, am glad I found one that has all i need and at an afforadable price.
A sure leader at this price range! in my opinion the item that could beat this is the Boss DB90 but comes with a price tag that alomost twice as much.

I turn off the back light to preserve the battery. But u can also, see the click lights lite up, as ur tempo. Great item. Don't be afraid to try it.

Couple things about this metronome, first, it doesn't come with (and Muscians Friend does not sell) the factory plug-in adapter, if there is one. It IS a good unit but I would agree with others that for the price, I would have preferred more functionality. It would be nice to have more than two sets of sounds for the click (I like a shaker sound) because that MIDI ping can be a bit much, for me.

Over all, though, it's a metronome that can mount to the set, and that's what it's all about. Not sure I'd buy it again, though; there's probably an app out there ...

Love the Rhythm watch! Programmable up to 30 time changes for your multi-movement, multi-tempo and multi-time signature pieces. Easy to use dials speed up the programming and on the fly changes.
Would suggest this metronome to anyone!

                Comments about Tama Rhythm Watch:

For practice OK but way too expensive. For live use absolutely not usable. The tap-in function is totally unfunctional. If you need it for live gigs get a Dr. Beat, otherwise get a super cheap click (or ap). I love Tama drums, but this metronome is just a joke.

                Comments about Tama Rhythm Watch:

I think this is one of the best full size metronomes I've used. It can mount to hardware on your kit. I tuck it in under the hi-hat. The back lighting was a nice improvement from earlier models. It's still a bit tough to use the TAP feature live, then have to switch modes to see the tempo. I use this live to get the count-offs for each song, and the large dial lets you easily make adjustments. However, this is a replacement to my original Tama...the tap button either wore out, or wasn't manufactured bullet-proof, but it became increasing unreliable.
