OVERVIEW

Attaches to any mic stand boom. Perfect for suppressing those popping 'P's.

The Musicians Gear Double Pop Filter is a pro-level split screen pop blocker that removes unwanted "P" and "B" consonant plosives by providing open space between the two screens. The first screen diffuses the air that causes plosive consonants, the open space between the screens disperses air pressure, and the pop filters second screen disperses the air and removes any remaining plosive consonants. The Musicians Gear Double Pop Filter features a sophisticated design that removes any air pressure and is very effective in filtering wind-caused plosives.

I bought two of these about a year ago during the 4th of July sales week and I have to say it's probably one of the cheapest improvements to my home studio rig that I've put money into.

I use these on many types of instrument recording sessions outside of just vocals. I have a tube guitar amp that has a lot of "speaker bark", and as such it has a tendency to rapidly change in SPL depending on the artist's playing dynamics. I used to get clipping in some otherwise great takes as a result of this, so I put one of these in front of my condenser mic. I was very impressed. No more clipping and I was able to keep the clarity and volume dynamics without risking damage to my equipment.

These are also nice for brass and woodwind instruments where similar rise/drops in SPL is a concern. You can physically watch the super-stretch fabric on these move when a trumpet player blasts a note into the mic. (Which if you're wondering is exactly what it's supposed to do.)

This pop filter will also help greatly if you have a vocalist that tends to spit on occasion (gross, I know, but I've seen it happen), and it will save a lot of cleanup for your mics.

These come in plastic resealable bags and have a very solid metal "goose-neck" design so that you can contort them any strange way that your heart desires.

To sum this all up, GET AT LEAST ONE OF THESE! They're cheap, they solve a lot of issues within any recording setting, and as such they're a worthy investment. Highly recommended.

The filter is useable but shoddy workmanship let it down.
Clamp works fine. Goosneck holds the filter in the correct place. Filter seems okay as long as you treat it gently.
The filter arrived with the head rattling around separately from the gooseneck. Some glue on the end of the gooseneck suggests that it should be a permanent fixture. I was able to push it on but it's wobbly and not a good fit.
It also seems as though the filter body had been dragged across a rough surface at one point - there was a wear mark. The packaging suggests that the filter was new so I suspect this was a manufacturing defect.
All in all, poor workmanship and quality control let this filter down.

Used it once, first time I went to adjust it it snapped of at the clamp. Don't waste your time, buy a decent one.

      Comments about Double Pop Filter:

We tried several other ones including some name brand ones and preferred these for their performance and durability. The other ones we tried either made the voices sound muddy or the hardware was poorly designed and would fall apart.

Comments about Musician's Gear Double Pop Filter:

as far as sound is concerned, this is one of the greatest pop filters in my opinion. the two filters make for an crystal clear, pop free recording. this will make your vocals sound so much more professional is the studio. the clamp works great. the goose neck is stiff enough to stay put, but depending on how you position it, it will droop a little over time. the only problem I have with it is the durability. This lasted a few months before starting to fall apart a little bit. the little plastic pieces that connect the filters to the inner ring started to myseriously disappear, only to later be found on the floor around the room. there are still 3 or 4 holding the filters onto mine, but each time one falls off, the rest of them have to pick up the slack and I'm not sure how much longer they'll hold on. but the good news in all of this is that i didn't pay much for this, and its still kicking, if only just, after 2 years.

Comments about Musician's Gear Double Pop Filter:

The clamp on this pop filter is very heavy and durable which is good because you want to make sure it stays clamped to whatever you'er attaching it to. However the goose neck is pretty weak and does not stay where you put it and once you let go it will move quickly to where it wants to and even after that it will continue to move slowly but surely in a place where you do not want it. I would recommend the pop filter but definitely NOT the goose neck!!

Comments about Musician's Gear Double Pop Filter:

It's a simple product that does what it's designed to do. I've read some reviews that the gooseneck doesn't hold in place, but mine is fine. I'm sure eventually it'll get worn down as everything does. Can't really say if its better than the single layer filter. It was on sale for the same price, if not, I probably would've saved a couple of $$ and bought the single layer filter.

The metal snake arm is not stiff enough to hold up it's own weight! Any position you set it in other than pointing straight down results in the snake arm sagging and moving the pop filter away from the front of your mic.

Does the trick to keep those pops and hisses under control. For the price you can't go wrong. Seems to be sturdy enough for my little home studio. Holds it's position well at various angles.

This pop filter will probably only work as displayed, in the vertical position. Head of filter too heavy for the thin metal arm to support. Mine came broken.
