simple yet great!

By musikphan

Comments about Olympus LS-10 Linear PCM Recorder:

i have only been using this recorder for about a week now, but the battery life on it seems to last quite a while and the interface of the recorder is extremely easy to use! USB file transfer is easy as well, and i didn't even install the included software. but, depending on what you are doing, you may want the software. great recorder! should have bought it sooner!

the best

By StratMan420-63TP3

from Wisconsin

Comments about Olympus LS-10 Linear PCM Recorder:

for me this is the best. my favorite thing about it is the sound, the battery life, and the compact size. i think for the vast majority of songwriters looking to capture ideas and get a good field recording when needed, will love this unit. I love to get a song idea, capture it, forget about it. let the thing fill up with ideas before i finally dump it all into my pc and gleefully sift through my temporary inspirations with fresh ears. The quality is awesome. once u find the sweet spot, you can use the thing to record your acoustic guitar tracks and import it into your mix, it's that good. built in reverb effects really are a nice touch and have great quality there as well. some mention the lack of low end but with these little mics that's to be expected. you can more than make up for that with a minimal amount of eq'ing. so small and flat, no one will think you're happy to see them when it's in your pocket

LS 10 - SUPERB

By Hacksaw Freddie

from Michigan

Comments about Olympus LS-10 Linear PCM Recorder:

Have owned one for about 8 months. There's nothing negative that can be said about it. High, high quality recordings can be made, batteries last very long, and running time is forever. Have done several five hour recordings with it. Fantastic!! Worth every penny.

Excellent compact field recorder

By JamminJay

from Des Moines, IA

Comments about Olympus LS-10 Linear PCM Recorder:

I used to carry a (much) larger Marantz PDM-671 for the many things I use a field recorder for (from recording our band playing live right off the mixer to capturing sound for video productions), and am amazed that this recorder (with the right adapters) will do everything the Marantz will do--just as well. An added bonus, these batteries last much longer. So, a tiny device that I can easily pack into a guitar case or video camera case will do everything I need it to do. It is reliable, and very intuitive to use. A great product.

Cutest little recorder

By saxman-f8byF

from New York City area

Comments about Olympus LS-10 Linear PCM Recorder:

This unit is small, cute, and very easy to use. I just got it today and played around with it immediately recording flute, voice, piano. I read many reviews on this and other units. The built in mics sound very good. I plugged in an expensive stereo Sony condenser mic and it wasn't much better than the built ins. Having multiple sampling rates is amazing. You can experiment with many different approaches to record and I can see that makes comparing units difficult. I also have a DAT and md recorder but this is so easy to use. As a professional musician I will find many uses for this "intsrument". Didn't try the software yet (cubase 4le) but I think that should be quite amazing in itself.

A great recorder in a smal package

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about Olympus LS-10 Linear PCM Recorder:

After receiving the LS-10 I almost sent it back. The instructions that came with it called it a "voice recorder". I didn't want a voice recorder. I wanted a recorder for voice, piano, organ, orchestra. I wanted a recorder for music.I decided to test it at a church service. It rerorded a soprano hiting the highs loud and strong and the signal didn't break up at all. Itdid great. I taped the piano playing the dificult and loud Rachmananoff concerto. It came out grate. All were recorded in WAV. I love the camera CD card used to record. I bought an 8 Gig card and it'll last for hours of recording time, and does it well. The mics could use a little more bass response. There is one thing I wish it had, a remote control, because I'm always participating and would like to control it from where I am. Oh, I use a camera tripod as the recorder's stand. It can extend up to 6 feet high.

Olympus LS-10 Linear PCM Recorder

By starkey97

from houston texas

Comments about Olympus LS-10 Linear PCM Recorder:

I have used the LS -10 for band practice by recording the practice and having the material [mp3's] to be learned already on the ls-10. It gets played back for review--band meetings -business meetings--- wildlife communication in a national park ----site recordings,ie oceans, airports, street corners, factories, corn fields --friends concerts ---verbal lists of things to do ---- live playing archives -and sometimes as a semi I-pod for on the road listening. The battery life is exceptional especially with lithium batteries. The LS-10 has an excellent learning curve & is easy to use. It also has a small thin body with an ez to read screen. I dont leave home without it.

It's Just What I Was Looking For!

By MiledgeGtr

from Southaven Ms (Next to Memphis,Tn)

Comments about Olympus LS-10 Linear PCM Recorder:

After reading all the reviews I could find on the small recorders, (E.Q. mag & E.M. mag and various reviews at music store web sights) I decided to check out the olympus.(Partly because it uses reg. AA batteries & I didn't like the fact that I'd have to send some of the other recorders back to the manufacturer to have the batteries replaced, because who knows how long that would take?) I tried it on my acoustic guitar, my drum set, a live band, and even took it to our family reunion and it recorded everything wonderfully!I am extremely pleased with it. I wish it had come with a remote control but that really hasn't been a problem. It's built rock solid, super simple to use, and does a great job, so what more could you ask for?

Great sound..very responsive

Comments about Olympus LS-10 Linear PCM Recorder:

I have tried it twice, the first time I faced the mic away from the band and the drums sounded a little canned.. The next rehearsal I faced the mic towards the band and it pick everything up and sounded great.. the mic was so sensitive that you could here my fingers plucking the strings on my SG Bass. It is easy to use and the AAA batteries seem to still have plenty of charge after two 3hr. rehearsals.
