The word for this mic is WOW. It is well worth the mouny. the best overhead mic, I have used.
I own four of these and use them exclusively for Overhead Drum Mics. This microphone catches the overheads perfectly, with a clean and crisp sound. I can also see these being used for room mics, since the frequency range is 20-20. Definately grab a pair of these for live and studio applications.
Very good for overhead cymbals, but do not expect a very good overall kit sound from these mics. You will have to close-mic the toms and snare (and kick of course); but then you were going to do that anyway, I hope.
I got 2 of these for cheap when they first came out. I don't know if I would feel the same way about them at this price, though. They work well for cymbal overheads, but they work even better as individual spot mics for hats, rides, etc. I have also used them as a stereo pair as room mics for grand piano and got great results. They are very small, which I guess is always a plus. I guess my only complaint would be that sometimes cymbals come off sounding harsh with these, but that could just be the sound of the cymbal itself...
This mic will pick up all of the subtle tonal qualities of cymbals and effects in either a studio or live setting. This is a killer mic!
