Comments about AKG C1000A / C3000 Bundle:
These mics are useful individually and together. They don't need a ton of eq to make toms, acoustic guitars and horns sound nice and natural. I would not buy these to use them primarily as lead vocal mics in the studio, they are not AKG's recommended choice for that application and I find them to sound one-dimensional and dull in that role. I would step up to a 414b-XL ll or a Blue ribbon mic to get that vocal magic going.
These mics are good tools for general recording, with enough features to be versatile. They can be powered with batteries when needed, & the c1000 has little plastic caps that really change the pickup pattern and sensitivity. The c3000 has a 10dbpad and a bass rolloff switch to help deal with loud or boomy sources. The mounts are high quality and useful. The higher-priced AKG mics have more features, no surprise there.
These mics look and feel well made. Solid without being overly heavy, the switches click nicely and the threaded parts fit with precision.
The bundle is a very good deal for the price, basically it gets you the c1000 for free.
Comments about AKG C1000A / C3000 Bundle:
Overall these 2 microphones will help you whether you own a high end studio, home studio or just a self recording musician. For the price and quality how can you pass this deal up if you are in the market for condenser microphones.
To start with the C1000 S, this is one and has been one of my favorite microphones in its class ever. Without even changing the capsule covers it is an awesome microphone for brass, acoustic guitar in a stereo mic-ing situation paired with a large diaprhagm condenser, drum overheads (although I usually go with a pair of Shure sm81's, it depends on the style of music...these can be a little brighter), and hi-hats. With the PB1000 installed on the capsule it's really awesome for vocals, I mainly use it for backing vocals because I find it doesn't provide enough clarity for a Lead. I haven't used it much in the hyper cardioid pattern other than on the hi hat. As for the C3000, I didn't have any experience with mic until purchasing this bundle. So far I've only tried it on vocals and the best way I can describe it is a poor man's AKG C414, bright, clear and airy.
AKG does a fantatic job of shipping their products in quality cases with durable shock mounts. The build of both of these microphones is sturdy, solid and not too heavy. Both microphones produce phenomenal sound quality with little noise.
First of all you are getting 2 microphones for the price of 1 people, how can you pass it up.
