OVERVIEW

Dynamic cardioid designed for performance!

The AKG D 9000 is a dynamic microphone designed for instrumental or vocal performance. The wide frequency response is slightly boosted in the mid- and high-frequency ranges for a crisp instrumental sound and better vocal intelligibility.

The D 9000 mic's outstanding performance is obtained by means of AKG Varimotion diaphragm technology and a frequency-independent cardioid pickup pattern that provides very effective feedback suppression. Doubleflex shockmounted transducer system reduces handling noise. AKG includes a mic clip with the D 9000 microphone.

FEATURES
  • Response tailored for onstage vocal and instrumental performance
  • Frequency-independent cardioid pattern for added immunity to feedback
  • Low handling noise through use of AKG's Doubleflex antivibration isolation system
  • High sensitivity (2.0mV/Pa) resulting from use of high-energy neodymium-iron boron magnet
  • Frequency Range: 80Hz-20kHz
  • Lightweight die-cast metal body with dark matte finish
  • Spring steel dent-resistant windscreen

I do not have a loud, projecting singing voice. These get me heard, 57's and 58's always feedback before workables volume levels with me. I've had mine for about 3 years with no problems. I just had one stolen, so I'm buying another. I used AKG1000's but now I don't need batteries or phantom power.

Better than Shure SM-58

Comments about AKG D 9000 High Performance Microphone Buy 1 Get 1 Free:

I've been using 2 of these mics for 6 years, and I have to say that they blow away the industry standard 58! Hotter, warmer, and fuller. As mentioned in other reviews, they are a "stand mic" because they do have a LOT of handling noise. They do have a tendency to distort if you have a powerful voice or get too close, but that's easily fixed by adjusting your position to the mic. The lack of an on/off switch has been a non-issue for me as I have never had any problem with feedback from them, and my band can get fairly loud (I run a 700 watt full bass stack if that gives you an idea). The other guys in the band fight over who's going to use my spare! We're definitely going to buy at least 3 or 4 more, and, at $40 a mic, you can't go wrong. Get a couple, you'll be impressed.

You Can't Beat it With a Stick

These are fantastic for the price. They sound great. I play with a guy who uses a Shure and these sound just as good. They come with descent clips and are sturdy. The only thing I wish they had was an on/off switch, I don't have a sound guy so I have to mute them. But like I said you can't beat them.

Have had these mics for about 3 weeks. I use them with a BR 600 and am very satisfied. Really did not expect much of these mics. You are getting 2 for one, that is a cheap mic. I used them to record Accordion Lessons as an mp3. The voice quality was surprisingly good. Recorded my double Musette tuned accordion and turned out very well. For the price these are A1 in sound.

not bad

Comments about AKG D 9000 High Performance Microphone Buy 1 Get 1 Free:

My band uses these, sm57s, sm58s, and some assorted audio tecnica mics (we have 6 people so we use a lot of mics). Comparing these mics to the others, the D9000 has a hotter output, which isn't really a pro or con. Not quite as warm as an sm58. This mic makes your voice sound somewhat thin instead of full like you would get out of the 58. I've used this to mic guitar cabs while recording at the same time as micing with a 57, 58, and an omni mic to get direct comparisons. This sounded better than the omni on the guitars, about the same as the 58, and not as good as the 57, so its not really a good choice to mic up a guitar amp on stage, stick with the 57 for that. I've also played sax through it live, and its decent sounding, similar sounding to the 57 for that application. In summary, good for backup vocals, but get a 58 or beta58 for lead. Also not too bad for high sound pressure instruments like the sax.

Got the two for one deal (emphasis on deal) They sound great. Even in a small practice space with 2 guitars, bass and drums, they rise above the rock just through a 300 watt practice PA. Still get a little feedback now and them but well worth the money, hot deal.

Excellent Stand Mics

By Chicago Mike

from Park Ridge, IL

Comments about AKG D 9000 High Performance Microphone Buy 1 Get 1 Free:

I just did an A - B comparison with a brand new SM58.The AKG is slightly hotter with the capacity to distort mid ranges if the singer is too close. You need to back off this mic slightly more than an SM58 but will get excelllent sound. The mic handling noise between an SM58 and this mic are striking. DO not hold this mic and sing but is perfect in a stand. This is an excellent value.

D9000 Rocks

Comments about AKG D 9000 High Performance Microphone Buy 1 Get 1 Free:

I ordered 4 of these mics when updating a worn out and outdated P.A for our church. Had previous experience with them as I broke one of the church's old mics and ordered the 2 for 1 deal and kept one for myself. I am an SM58 man from way back, but hooked it up to my home studio and did some recording. Simply amazing! Hot, warm ande full. Everything you would expect from a mic costing twice as much!Handling noise, however, is horrible, but placed on stands that is not an issue. If you get very close to this mic you will notice slight plosives which aren't present on a 58, but you shouldn't be trying to eat a mic anyway. Anyone who has had experience with a poorly grounded P.A. will tell you that is a BAD idea. I would and do use these mics live without a second thought. Simply a wonderful mic and at 2 for 1 you'd have to be crazy not to purchase them. Best deal out there if you need mics and are low on $$$, or even if you aren't. Buy them! you won't be disappointed.

I was needing some new mics for our church and figured I'd give these a try...the price was right and we could always use them for kids stuff if they weren't all that great. I set one up next to an SM58 and was impressed...nearly the same quality of sound reproduction and actually a little hotter output. I'm back to get two more.

Really Hard To Believe

Comments about AKG D 9000 High Performance Microphone Buy 1 Get 1 Free:

I couldn't believe it until I heard it. I bought 2 and did a controlled A - B comparison with the industry standard SM-58, which I have been using for over 30 years, and it just simply blew it away! So, I ordered 4 more.

I use these mics to record my toms, and snare. They sound very similar to the way an sm 57 sounds on the same drums. Pretty rad deal two for less than the price of one 57.

good mics. worth the money. If your in need of mics and on a budget, these are it. They give great sound. I recently ran them through my mixer to record a demo and got great results recording guitar and bass with them. Not the best use for them, but they did the job. They are well built, dropped them already. Dont see any visible damage. Good sign; ). Used them along SM58's and have to say not much of a diffrence. But they do have diffrent tonal characteristics. But that is to be expected.

I agree with the other reviews that this is a great mic for the value, and good in the stand (except for when you have to do adjustments). But the noise when handling is terrible.

Comments about AKG D 9000 High Performance Microphone Buy 1 Get 1 Free:

I bought 8 of these for a church install. I was very impressed with them. The sound is just as good if not better than sm57's, sm58's, and all the other copies. The only drawback to these mics is handling noise. they are not terrible, but they have more handling noise than the Shures do. I also own a couple and use them in my studio. They do a great job because they are on stands and not being handled. I would recommend these highly.

I have used Shure sm58s and sm57s for several years and swore by them. I just bought the AKG D9000 for our new group to use as backups and extras until we could afford to buy more Shures. I didn't have any ideas that the sound would be so warm and crisp. The whole group loves them. At this price, I can't afford not to purchase more, and neither can you.

Comments about AKG D 9000 High Performance Microphone Buy 1 Get 1 Free:

I work sound at my church. I needed an additional 4 mikes for narration purposes. Ran them through a small Beringer board to one channel on the house mix. One Problem - They sounded better than the SM58's we have for vocal!I expected the case isolation to be better, but it was about par with the other hand-helds we use. Still, overall what a great deal & performance. (did I mention it was a great deal?)
