With the AKG D790 microphone's voice pickup optimization, you'll hardly ever be be using your mixer's EQ. AKG protects the D970 microphone's transducer element from damage with a strong, die-cast body, a wire-mesh outer grill, and a shock-absorbing inner-steel mesh grill.

    Great Mic

Comments about AKG D790 Dynamic Microphone:

I bought four of these on sale at MF. At this price you can't go wrong. They sound fantastic. Very 58 like in sound. Though a bit more proximity effect, which you can use to your advantage if you know how to play with it. It is subject to feedback. I usually use Audix mics and they DO NOT feedback...ever. As far as sound, these AKGs sound just as nice as the Audix IMHO. I dinged half a point off the overall for not being as good with feedback as the Audix, but what mic is? Certainly not the 58. I own two of them. I love the sound for lead vocals, but they'll feedback too if you let them. Great sounding mic. You will probably not be disappointed.

    no regrets

Comments about AKG D790 Dynamic Microphone:

I own an Audix OM2, and while this Audix is still the better mic, this one is not far behind, for less than half the price! Turns out this was AKG's competitor for the Shure SM58 (which I have used) and it is just as reliable and sounds just as good. The only reason it's so dang cheap is because its manufactured in Poland now (it was discontinued). Mine sounds excellent after a little EQ (a little heavy in the low end). Perfect for back up vocals, but can holds its own on lead vocals as well. If your an artist on a budget buy as many of these as you can before they run out!
