These AKCs are the best headphones I've ever purchased. I have owned Sony, Sennheiser, JVC, Bose and AKC previously; the K240S are by far the best in my arsenal. I even purchased a pair for my son for his music studio and he too was impressed with the accurate clarity of sound...He realize now he has to tweak many of his recordings. I mainly use them to prepare for concert performances and rehearsals and I am most pleased with these. Purchase a set today!!

I bought these to replace the 10 year old k240s that fell apart but still work after resoldering many times. The old 600 ohm version has a flatter sound which is better for studio work. The new 55 ohm version has a bit of an unnatural bass increase whilst the mid range is deficient, I suspect this may be to cater to the overly compressed ipod culture we live in. I'm going to take the old 600 ohm elements and shove them into the new shell. If they still made the 600 version I would get them, I've only seen the 55 ohm version available now. They did fix that s*itty linecord design, with the new miniplug. What's the use when the sound has changed. I will look for a new headphone in the future, 'tis a shame, they had a great sound and light weight, too.

Comments about AKG K240 Studio Headphones:

The current K240 Studio should be renamed "BUMPS by AKG". These are for the 128kb MP3 listener who only appreciates singles. Professionals, audiophiles, and users of the old, flat-response K240 sets should look at other models. "They don't make them like they used to."

Comments about AKG K240 Studio Headphones:

I have previously owed these and when I went to upgrade to my new digital studio, there was not a second thought to get a couple of them to replace the old. They are lightweight, yet deliver exceptional sound quality for the cost, in fact they are as good or better than a lot of more expensive units. If you are on a budget you can't miss with these, and if you have a great budget, you still can't go wrong....

Comments about AKG K240 Studio Headphones:

These headphones are the best I know of for studio work. They are crystal clear with flat response, and you can easily hear every frequency in the natural audio spectrum. I also find these headphones can get the job done for live mixing, but they lack isolation, so thy have to be cranked pretty loud.

These sound fantastic for a home studio. Much cleaner than my old headphones, and my mixes are coming out much better now. They do get a little 'sweaty' after hours of having them on, and they are a bit heavy.

Comments about AKG K240 Studio Headphones:

Sound leaks as expected with the semi open design. The sounds are warm as the drivers have room to breathe, rather than being insulated like the closed backs. This creates a warmth to the low ends rather than a thump. I've had these cans on for hours with little fatigue. they are light weight. I only wish they had come with a coiled cord. Going price on the internet is about forty hard earned american currency units.

My first impression was...well, ripped off again!
But after using them for a while I was quickly turned around. They are excellant for home use and have quite a bit of volume. Very light weight with plenty of cord so that you don't have to sit on your amp. Really glad I went with these.
