Well, I have to say the price was right. There is plenty of flexibility function-wise, but it is very noisy. It also added some static on mid range frequencies from time to time. I'm exchanging mine for a new one. Hopefully the next one will work better. P.S. Musicians friend has been wonderful taking care of me as far as the gold coverage is concerned. The warrantee is worth it.
This is a budget Compressor/Limiter/Gate that priced right and delivers the goods. I am using it on the insert of my bass guitar, primarily as a noise gate with light compression. Sound quality is impressive, especially for this price range. I am not a big Alesis fan, but I would have to say this unit steps up to the plate. I am actually thinking of buying a second one to use at church on my bass rig there.
I really can't tell it's anything special. I've used this on stereo mixes and I can't tell at all that it does anything wonderful. Was actually quite disappointed with the dynamic range of the mixes I did with this unit. It's also very noisy. And the controls drift. The controls are designed to look like analogue, but they are not. You can have everything set and then come back the next day and no compression. Move the threshold just a bit and it's back, but way too loud. very annoying. Don't buy it. Alesis customer service is very poor.
