OVERVIEW

Powered desktop studio speakers for project studios, video playback, gaming and mobile devices.

While it's true that the Alesis Elevate 3 monitors are not designed to be a main set of speakers in major recording and post production facilities, they are however an excellent and affordable decision for your home computer desktop or small project-based studio. Alesis Elevate 3 monitors come as a stereo-matched pair to provide a clear, full sound for your multimedia content and more. Built using technology adopted from Alesis' award-winning Monitor One and M1 Active professional studio monitors, Elevate 3 Studio Monitors are the perfect way to upgrade your computer or mobile device experience. Each speaker is housed in a handmade, custom wood cabinet that helps provide natural bass and feature an elliptical waveguide with Directional Articulation technology. You'll also have the ability to increase power and bass extension by connecting an optional powered subwoofer.

Exceptional Sound Quality
Elevate 3 Studio Monitors contain powerful, three-inch woofers, crisp, one-inch silk-dome tweeters and dedicated bi-amplified power. Alesis engineers carefully selected and tuned these crucial components to work in concert as a single unit within the custom wood cabinet to deliver full lows, clean highs and a detailed compelling stereo image. Magnetic shielding ensures that you'll never have to worry about placement or interference with displays, TVs and other electronic equipment. And unlike passive speakers, Elevate 3 monitors have a volume knob built right in to the front panel for easy control.

Directional Articulation Technology
Alesis has been creating studio monitors for nearly a quarter century. In that time, they have learned a lot about maximizing sound and sonic clarity. Elevate 3 Studio Monitors leverage Alesis' experience in designing studio loudspeakers by employing custom-designed wood cabinets that stay natural and neutral, regardless of the frequency content or volume.

More importantly, each Elevate 3 cabinet features an elliptical-shaped waveguide set around their high-frequency driver - a feature commonly found on premium speakers far more expensive. Surrounding the high-frequency driver, the waveguide optimizes the throw of sound. Its elliptical shape is wide horizontally, creating a wide listening "sweet spot," so you can move left or right without losing stereo image. And because its shape is narrow vertically, the waveguide reduces reflections off of your computer table, below, and the ceiling, above. This translates to clean, consistent and focused sound every time you turn on your pair of Elevate 3 Studio Monitors.

Convenient I/O
An RCA stereo pair input is onboard, perfect for connecting mixers, interfaces, and virtually any other piece of audio gear. A 1/8-inch stereo connection gives you the ability to switch to headphones easily at anytime, and connecting the speakers is just as easy, requiring just one standard 1/8" cable (included). If you're frequently on the move, Elevate 3 is the speaker for you: they feature a built-in power supply so they'll work worldwide with no wall-wart power supply to lose!

Elevate 3 Studio Monitors are designed to produce natural frequency response. But if you need a little more low-end punch, a convenient bass-boost switch does the trick. And if you need even more power and low-end extension, Elevate 3 features a subwoofer output compatible with virtually any powered subwoofer.

I'm diving deep into mixing and mastering. I have a somewhat pro studio set up at an actual lock out but wanted something to work with at home.

I purchased these for very cheap. I got exactly what I expected. Decent sounding and durable.
I like the fact that you sort of have to mix with these monitors on a lower volume. They force you to stay disciplined and not crank up the volume (the easily distort if you do). If you can mix on a lower volume setting the outcome is usually much superior vs cranking it way up.

What I do like about lower end monitors is the fact that you have to train your ears to pick up and learn about certain subtle nuances. Sort of like boot camp for mixing. Now when I sit in front of my Fostex monitors at my studio my ears are getting better and better at picking stuff up because of my home training on the lower end monitors.

It's all about your ear and taking the time to learn what your monitors can do and then applying it all to the mix.

Buy these and learn something before spending big on costly monitors.

I bought these for price, just as many others have I imagine. These are the smallest monitors I have encountered, but the sound is very good. I wouldn't suggest using "bass boost" as the sound gets a little muddy. The reason I can't give this a glowing review is two-parts.

If you look at the details, the left monitor does not have its own in/out line. You must connect the 1/8" cable from R. So if you're running even a simple audio interface with 1/4" ins, you will need to buy new cables. Just remember RCA output in the back.

Secondly, once you turn on the monitors you will hear a hiss. Adjust the volume knob past 75% and you will get a hum. Kind of annoying but I guess if you aren't listening carefully you can tune it out.

All in all, for the price, completely worth it. Just note what you intend to use it for as this product is meant for the casual audiophile.

Comments about Alesis Elevate 3 Studio Monitor (Pair):

I fortunately these speakers do not live up to their description! They are a bit small but about the size of normal computer speakers. The design and build are quite nice but that's where the buck turns. These speakers are good at a high end freq and not good at lows-lets face it a 3" woofer can't do much. What I found is listening to song that have been mastered and mixed come through quite muddy; however, tracks that I have been working on and turned into MP3 came through decent. Bottom line is I had to play with my input volume and speak volume to prevent a muddy sound. These are not good speaker monitors for any level of user. These are great for simple laptop or desktop speakers that look cool. Save your money and pay a bit more for a decent monitor if you are serious about recording, mixing, or engineering!

Comments about Alesis Elevate 3 Studio Monitor (Pair):

I just purchased these monitors and got them last week for my online radio station and, Despite what some of the negative comments say Alesis once again have NOT disappointed me in delivering an excellent product. These monitors are not designed to power a high wattage home sound system, They are for small studio applications such as my online radio station and they sound unbelievable! I was considering adding my Yamaha sub for more low end bass but, They sound great without my sub too. So if your looking to play Metallica on 10 constantly then these monitors are NOT for you but, If you are looking for compact excellent sounding monitors that wont break the bank for your studio the Alesis elevate 3 monitors will not let you down.

I, like others was enticed by the price. when I hooked them up to my Tascam US-1800 to record the sound quality sucked, so I included them with a PA system I sold off. and I recently purchased a set of M-Audio's and they sound great. live and learn: a bargain isn't a bargain when the product you purchased wasn't up to your standards.

Comments about Alesis Elevate 3 Studio Monitor (Pair):

These are great little speakers for the price.

5 stars for the quality they bring at this price point, NOT because they are as good as higher end, larger monitors!

I did a direct, head to head test against my JBL Pro III monitors (4" LF drivers, 1" HF), and the Alesis 3's were MUCH clearer and more precise. The JBL's seemed really "muddy". Now I did break these in for a couple of hours at about 70% volume on the speakers volume knob (as recommended by Alesis). Played a mix of tight compressed pop (Toto, Depeche Mode), classical, and jazz. At the end of the break in period, the harshness of the HF tweeters toned down somewhat and the general sound was a bit fuller and smoother. Transient response was very good considering the size of the drivers. Drums sounded full and punchy. The low boost switch just muddies things up, and isn't usable in a monitoring situation IMHO. I bought these with the express intent of adding a sub to augment the LF. I find these to be a great additional voicing for mix tests, one which approximates users who listen through decent to high quality 2.1 computer systems and soundbar systems. If you are cash strapped and building your first DAW rig, these speakers, along with a sub, and a good set of headphones will certainly get the job done. Just remember, these aren't designed for party rocking sound.

BTW, I plugged the rear ports, and the sound tightened up considerably, especially in the lower mids. This would work well in a sub system, but I found the sound more enjoyable overall with the ports open for casual listening. I have been listening to these for a solid three hours without any fatigue, which is pretty impressive for monitors at this price.

Be sure to check pricing, as there are some great deals out there on these right now.

Worked great for a while. Bought mine back in september 2013. It's now April 2014 and they simply refuse to power on.

I did purchase the 2 year warranty, and funny enough after getting through to the company that MF does warranties through, they told me to call Alesis instead since it's within their warranty time frame?
Pretty bad service if you ask me. Now sitting on hold with Alesis in the middle of my work day. You'd think if you hired out your warranty service they'd offer full service instead of passing you around.

Decent monitors IMO, but you might find yourself wasting a lot of time down the line to address faulty units.
Get the warranty. Or maybe just buy local instead to save yourself time sitting on hold during weekend business hours.

I bought these on sale and these are one of the best purchases I have ever made. These speakers sound very clear, tight and clean. Whoever thinks the sound quality is poor msut have gotten a defective pair because these sound great to me! Now keep in mind, these are studio monitors. These were designed to reproduce sound accurately. These are NOT designed to rattle your windows, nor are they appropriate for a high powered home theater system. These desktop monitors are good for hooking up to a computer, tablet, iPod, mp3 player, etc. I personally hooked them up to a computer where I mix various techno and trance tracks and these little gems are perfect! The tracks come out clean, tight, accurate and crystal clear. I love these speakers!

I gave this product a 5 start rating not because they are the best studio monitor you can buy but for what I paid for these little jewels I absolutely love them. I use them for a lot of differrenct applications such as learning new music, listening to a mix I am working on, and sometimes just listening. They are small, have a nice volume capability, and I really like the fact that they have their own power amp. Well worth the money. I have other monitors that are more expensive with a better sound for mixing but the Elevate 3's have their advantages.

Impressive for the size. But really, it is all about that BASS. So, I added a Yamaha YST-FSW050. Pretty impressive sound for my computer system. Not a PA system @ 120 db with 15"subs, but kickin' perfect for the bedroom computer. I clocked in a very clean 102 db @ 30" centered, with 36" speaker seperation. And yes, the 2-3 hr. break in period is real. Why? Who cares, just wait. I get it isn't practical for the Mfgr. to do this prior to sale.

Comments about Alesis Elevate 3 Studio Monitor (Pair):

I bought these because I needed a good set of monitors to replace the computer speakers I used for video editing. But before I installed these I ended up getting a great deal on a pair of M-Audio AV-40 monitors and used them instead. I kept these for use with my laptop for when I'm in the field (anything is better than the built in speakers on the laptop!), and as a spare if I ever needed them.

Well, I needed them! The AV-40s developed a buzz when the room temp went into the low 80s and above, so I had to send them back for warranty service.

Plugging these into my editing workstation after using the AV-40s was like going back in time to when I was using computer speakers! It was compelling enough that I decided to write this review. While I had noticed that these monitors were somewhat duller than I expected when using them with the laptop, I was usually out in the field in less than ideal listening conditions and they still beat the laptop's speakers.

But using these Alesis monitors on the same material and in the same environment as the AV-40s, I was surprised at how much clarity and vibrance was now missing from the material I was working on.

Don't get me wrong, they do a somewhat better job than the computer speakers I had been using before, and on the laptop they are so much better than the built-in speakers. But having used a far superior set of monitors for almost a year (the AV-40s), I can not understate my disappointment with these monitors!

Spend the extra money for a better set if you aren't on a tight budget. And if you are working with music, pass these up entirely. The most notable difference between these and the AV-40 was in the music that I often times need to add to the video I'm working on. When I plugged the AV-40s into my editing system and played my video logo that's added to then end of each video I work on, it was like hearing the music part of the logo for the very first time!

These Alesis monitors simply don't match to that!

Another amazing product from the Alesis company. For price and size of the monitor, simply amazing! I use mainly as computer speaker, a little bit for tracking, mixing. For serious sound editing, I use more serious speakers. Nonetheless, these speakers offer stunning sound for price and size.

After the three hour break in period. They sound nice and clear. They are louder than I expected. Even when cranked up there's no distorted sound at all. I'm very happy with their performance for my home studio.

These are very nice little affordable monitors. Mids and highs are even. Bass ofcourse lacks due to the small size. However, when you add a sub with the handy sub output these come to life and offer superb sound. I mean it really sounds great. I picked up a cheap computer sub off Craigslist and am deliriously happy now. These are great for computer monitors and home studios.

yea so I noticed you have to break them in... for 3 hours. at frist they were at a moderate low than I adjusted things like quality of sound, wiring, output device into them along everything i could imagine they were just from the box complete garbage. They crack and break with mutliple levels of range.... No need to even go high volume you'll hear them tearing at low and even at medium it gets unbareable! if I could give them no stars I would!

These are cheap computer speakers. Headphones will give you better sound quality for the price and a more immersive experience. If you want to be able to hear the nuances of your music, spring for a higher quality monitor that handle bass.

I find the sound to be very sharp (in a bad way) - sort of echoing out of a tin can. I bought them to replace an old pair of Altec - Lansing speakers for my kid's Xbox setup thinking if they were good I'd replace the M-Audio monitors in my home setup. They aren't that good.

They are cheap, compact, and perfect for kids who just want to hear exposions. If you are serious about your music, don't buy these for any sort of studio application. I reccomend them, but only when the limitations are fully understood.

These are not exactly what I was expecting. I opened up the box and found that these are a small monitor unit and don't put out a lot of sound. They get loud enough to function but you are not going to rock out to these monitors in your studio. I would recommend going with something bigger that would put out more sound if that is what you are looking for.
