I've been using this mixer for about a year now, and it never lets me down when it comes to recording. I've recorded 2 albums using this mixer and never had any problems. I do all my tracks on "Magix Samplitude" which I can say "with confidence" is the best recording software out there! This mixer doesn't have Multi Track capabilities, but I'd rather record each voice individually, I guess Thats why I never had any problems. and to add to that, Your recoring software can make a big difference in your final project, So overall this mixer is great for any studio, home or pro.

The main reason I purchased this item was the USB. I cannot get it to work with my laptop. After 2 months I had to take the board in for service. 1 XLR and one 1/4" jack went out. The local store could not look at the USB. Had I known that at the time I would have sent in back to Alesis. After the repair it has lasted about 6 months. Now channels 1 and 2 are totally out and 11/12 is out. The board has no headroom and it is a little noisy. I wouldn't throw this board at a cat.

Very bad decision

We bought this mixer about a year ago and it was a bad decision. The channels make a dirty noise and we need to repair it again! Now I need to buy a new mixer!

Alesis Multimix 16 USB

By Dave-cBt27

from Massachusetts

Was very pleased with everything except not being able to record on different tracks at the same time. All tracks you record at the same time will be recorded on one track in your recording software. (Theres basically one stereo input, 2 mono inputs...) The power cord just broke on me from basic careful moving from my studio to my room and it seems that they don't sell spare power cords for this mixer. Cubase LE is not a bad software, just very basic.

What can you do? - Anything!

By GrandMastrMahoy

from Omaha, NE

This board rocks, it has a usb port so it can be hooked up straight to your computer for recording. It has Phantom Power, great sounding effects, Professional +4 db output, alt 3/4 bus, Digital out, an on and on, The only reason I gave features a 9 is that the Phantom Power is not channel selectable, and the effect take up one of the aux sends.

Great mixer except for one thing..

By steve-HDotN

from arkansas

This mixer is great for live recordings or home studio purposes except for one thing, you can't do multitracking! If you decide you want to record each separate track to your computer, well, you can't. It all records to one track. So if you record drums, vocals, keyboard and bass, it's all on one track, this really sucks. Other than that, this is a great mixer. Good quality and looks good.

NOT a Multitrack!!!!

By Jake-4EGvs

from Muncie, IN

This is a nice little live mixer overall. But, if you plan on multitracking with this, think again! The Alesis Multimix USB sends one stereo mix via USB to your computer. If you want multi track recording capabilities go with the Multimix FIREWIRE. The firewire version can simultaneously record up to 18 tracks (If you get better software, like SONAR ) So I say for a live mixer this'll do fine, but if you want recording and live go firewire! Besides, firewire is much more stable and way faster than usb!

This is a good mixer

By Rash 97R

from Provo, UT

This mixer is good for two reasons: it is great for doing your own projects at home, and it is great if you want a good recording of live performances. The user manual is also very well-written. Even if you don't know a thing about mixing you will be up and running in minutes. I have had some trouble getting timely reponses from Alesis technical support, but overall I am satisfied.

A Great Mixer, A Toy Recorder.

By Daniel-vHOGa

from Hot Springs, Ar

This mixer line is very similar to Behringer's Mixer Line. For a mixer, it?s great! But it's NOT a multi-track recorder. The USB connectivity sends one stereo mixdown feed of all inputs to the computer. This is neat, but this will NOT suit me, nor others who want to record their entire band (or whatever) and have individual tracks for each instrument. It is a good quality product, and I would recommend it for a small church or something like that, for them to record the pastor?s sermons, but that is all.
