I needed a phantom power unit along with a small mixer to put my keyboard, mic, and drum machine. I lucked out and saved some money because this unit had the 3 units I wanted in one.Phantom power, effects unit and mixer. A space and money saver. This mixer added 99 extra effects. It has about 5 different types of effects: reverb, delay, chorus, flange, and voice changing effects. There are varying degrees of each and are overall outstanding. It's small enough to place on my Roland XP-80 and very easy to operate. My only grievance was you had to dial the number of the effect, but the dial was lightning fast. If it had a number pad for the effects patch it would work quicker for live performances. Aside from that I was more than pleased with this unit. Also it clicks loudly on powerup. Just have to turn the mixer before the amp.

I bought the Alesis MultiMix 6FX Mixerto run our e drums into our bose system. It was only ever used at practice and also when I was practicing alone, I would run it into a small bass amp for my vocals and bass. It was treated gently and take well care of.In less than a year of use it started going in and out. IT would work, then it wouldn't. Also, the power connnection is garbadge. It's one of those screw on deals. Problems is, is that over time, even with being gentle the screw on coupler breaks the connection into the mixer and the power cable is falling apart. In short is is a peice of junk and a waste of money.

Don't waste your money

By SecretAgentMan

I bought this mixer to mix my keyboards and for a while it performed as expected. Within 6 mo. the effects started buzzing so I turned them off and just used it as a mixer. Fine. Then I started noticing that a light buzz from the shorted out effects section is creeping into the main mix. Unacceptable. Since it would cost more to fix than to buy a new Beringer to replace it, I bought the Beringer. Had it for a year, no problems. So as for Alesis, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Nice Little Mixer

By vintagevinyl

from Fontana, CA

I've had mine for almost 2 years now, and have had zero problems with it. The preamps are really nice and transparent and the effects are a nice addition. I needed a mixer to give me a little bit more control over my sound, I got that and a lot more. If I were to buy a mixer again though, I would buy something with enough inputs to mic a live drum kit. If you get serious about recording it's easy to outgrow this unit, but at the time of purchase I was strapped for cash/space.

Poor quality

By Tuck-LkWHS

from Tahoe, CA

Mine's going back to Alesis tomorrow. Channel 1 broke within 3 weeks of purchase. It was under warranty, but I couldn't send it off without buying a replacement. It's now 2 years older, and Channel 2 broke last weekend, so there are no usable mic inputs. I wanted to "upgrade" to get the effects, but my Behringer Eurorack, 3 years older, still works perfectly. Guess which brand I'm ordering now?

Great little mixer w/awesome efx

By Gene Tognacci

Well thought out and well laid out mixer. I'm using this for my home voice over studio and the effects are terrific. Knobs are somewhat flimsy and I'm nervous how they'll hold up to repeated use. Saves a ton of rack space and fits nicely on my desktop.

Great value for it's cost and size

By PaaES335

from Westbrook, ME

I use this mixer to blend pickups on my acoustic guitars then run it into a Fishman Loudbox. My program is all instrumental guitar with a mix of classical, original, and cover material.I was able to set the unit up right out of the box and within minutes had the sound I wanted. The effects don't offer much in terms of tweaking but it was easy for me to select one of the hall settings and have it work great for my style. It's also very quiet with minimal hiss even from the effects section. There are other options for recording or sub mixing that I haven't tried. This mixer is perfect for a solo musician who needs a portable rig. Mine fits perfect in a soft laptop bag with plenty of room for cables, etc.

Not pleased with it

By Notta Fan

from Tucson, AZ

Two weeks after getting it, the effects section went south. Had it fixed at the factory. It worked for a few weeks then started giving annoying problems and noises and pops in the effects section once again, suddenly when it warmed up. Now it'll only give and effect on the right channel. Also making more noises so using the effects is all but out of the question. Don't buy this. Get the MACKIE 12 channel with effects. Much better. This thing is going by way of the target range.

Like the unit.

By Nephtys

from Thun, CH

We (young rock band) have been using this for half a year as our main mixer (!) for our singer and us background singers. Has been working very well, it's a unit we can rely on and for beginners it's priceless to have such a cheap mixer that works.
