Comments about Allen & Heath ZED-10FX 10-Channel USB Mixer with Effects:
I've been playing for decades, finally decided to get a mixer for recording and live performances. Based on my requirements, Musician's Friend talked me out of a cheap Peavey and into this fine little board. It's fairly intuitive, and within a couple of days I had laid tracks down in Garageband and played them back wirelessly via Airport Express using iTunes. Not bad for a guy in his 50s who never did any of that before! Well worth the price charged, and I'm grateful for the helpful advice. Sound quality is very good, even better when I upgraded to Mogami cables.

Comments about Allen & Heath ZED-10FX 10-Channel USB Mixer with Effects:
I love the compact size, the quiet operation and the adjustable effects. I use this when I perform solo with an acoustic guitar, a hollow body electric, a Shure 55 mic and a Meinl electronic kick bass pedal. I use Yamaha MSR250 powered speakers and the system sounds very warm and natural. The built in effects allow me to leave my other effects home. Besides live performances, I use this mixer for home recording with a Tascam DP-008. Very quiet and clean. I got this to replace an aging Mackie 1402. I hear a definite improvement in sound quality.

Comments about Allen & Heath ZED-10FX 10-Channel USB Mixer with Effects:
I side-stepped to this unit after using a Mackie 1402 for 10 years.
Major assets of this mixer for me are:
- Small size - particularly the shallow depth. This mixer is less physically awkward with all my cramped, hastily improvised stage setups.
- IEC Power Socket - lack of this is a major liability with all the cheaper small mixers in my opinion. (I really hate those awkward, dedicated external power supplies...)
- Rugged construction - this unit feels like a rugged piece of gear (the cheaper boards feel much more toy-like)
- Sound - sounds very nice to me - mixes well - adds a slight bit of desirable character perhaps. No spending half an hour messing around trying to find a setting that doesn't sound lousy.
I do miss certain user-friendly aspects of the Mackie 1402, like the way using a single input would default to mono and the generous gain in the line inputs.
Overall I'm happy, though. No regrets, going a bit over over budget. Like they say: quality is remembered, long after price is forgotten.

Comments about Allen & Heath ZED-10FX 10-Channel USB Mixer with Effects:
Took this right to the gig right after UPS delivered it and left my Mackie at home!Much quieter and the EQ is actually functional, unlike Mackie products. You pay a little more, but from the moment you take it out of the box,it's obvious this is a better made product than anything Mackie has produced in a long time.If you don't care about what you sound like, than buy a Beringer and save some money over the Mackie mixers. If quality, reliability and great sound are important,I strongly recommend Allen and Heath or Soundcraft boards. That's what the pros use.
Comments about Allen & Heath ZED-10FX 10-Channel USB Mixer with Effects:
i give this mixer an ovre rating of 10 because its super quiet all the nobs turn with ease but have that well buit stiffness feel to them. the effects that are on it are alright but they are more analog then digital and I personally do more digital then analog! the colors of the mixer is awesome is small enough that it fits in my home studio perfet and does not take up to much room.
My setup is
windows XP 32bit, 4 gigs of ram core 2 duo processor
dual 24" monitors
this mixer im reviewing
MXL genesis mic
KRK Rokit 8 GEN 2's powered monitors
Novation Impulse 49 midi key controller
sennheiser HD 280 Pro headphones
plus all the cables and gatagets a studio has
This mixer is just awesome PERIOD! it has more then enough fetures for any small or home recording studio. The effects are alright but i like the effects on the older model alesis usb which is programmed with 100 presets
The quality of the mixer is execellent its well built and looks great as well "it's allen&heath" what did u expext from a quality trusted brand
for the price of this mixer you cant go wrong. i purchased a
Behringer XENYX X1222USB USB Mixer with Effects
before i purchased this one and after i purchased the Alesis MultiMix 8 USB FX Regular and i have to say out of all 3 of them this one is by far the best one. "all thought i would like all the built in effects from the alesis in this mixer then this mixer would be a beast!"
but im not to worried about the effects when u have $15K wort of VST plugins i guess it really don't matter
Comments about Allen & Heath ZED-10FX 10-Channel USB Mixer with Effects:
I'm going to keep this short. I have used a lot of different mixers over the years. Allen & Heath hands down is the best. "note: I've used mixer that make this one look like a toy" I will never buy anything else but these mixers. The only down fall I find on this model is the channel volume controls are real touchy. wish they would make this model with sliders also.
Comments about Allen & Heath ZED-10FX 10-Channel USB Mixer with Effects:
Thats just how quiet this unit is.....Allen & Heath made no sacrifices when they developed this compact mixer....utilizing all the high-end components of it's much bigger brothers as well as 16 of the most useful FX needed in the industry.....this board is the stepping stone you need to advance into recording with a USB interface....phantom power and 2 Hi Z inputs for guitars etc.....all Pros.....no Cons here......another feature not mentioned is the fact that this unit has a removable 110 power cord.....no wall wart......and an on/off switch......this unit is quite hefty for the small footprint.....don't let the price fool you....theres more bang for your buck here than anything Mackie has to offer.........the Allen & Heath ZED 10 FX delivers the quality you are looking for......
Comments about Allen & Heath ZED-10FX 10-Channel USB Mixer with Effects:
I love this guy. I use it mainly for guitar and vocals and it sounds great. The FX are really good too.
Everything on this thing is awesome. The FX are amazing. The only reason I gave it four stars is because it doesn't come with a USB lead.
Great quality. Preamps are really good. Its very sturdy overall.
Amazing value. Worth every penny. Thing works great.
Comments about Allen & Heath ZED-10FX 10-Channel USB Mixer with Effects:
I bought this to replace a cheap, noisy, not-so-Hi-Fi mixer. When I read the specs on noise and distortion, I thought, WOW!, is that possible? It seams to live up to it. I literaly CAN NOT hear it. It is totally tranparent. I am sure a lot of that is due to the high quality internal power supply. I have a digital piano, synth and drum machine going through it and all of them sound as clear as if they were plugged directly into my amps. That's all I need!
Only reason I didn't give a 10 is I just got this 2 days ago and haven't tried the FX yet. If they follow suit, this is definitely a 10!
Plenty of buttons to allow you to take complete control of it. You can route any and all inputs ot any or all outputs, It can be a little confusing as it took me quite a while to get sound routed to the headphones, but once it's figured out, it is completely logical. Lot's of FX," but haven't tried them yet. It's also nice to have an internal power supply where any PC-type power cord will work. NO WALL WART to lose!
I have the ""record out"" connected to a digital recorder but can't wait to try the ""USB out"" to be able ot record on a PC. I may have to retire the old recorder!
As far as I can tell", built like a brick sh . . . . Well, you know!
Not cheap, but you get what you pay for! Evident with the mixer I just unplugged.
