I own many professional headphones that audiophiles consider good headphones from grado sr80's to expensive akg's and audio tecknica's some older senheiser's and even the new superlux hd668b which only cost's 50 dollors. This i compared to the hd668b as they are in the same price range. My friend owned these. And i amplified them with multiple amplifiers. there specifications are way over rated. they have nice bass but after that every thing sounds hollow and and muddy. they are decent headphones but not great. they acurately will fall between a 30 dollor recreational sony headphone and 20 dollor philips headphone. they are not professional. if your looking for a good headphone in this price range that is the best and that may be your first audiophile headphone look that the superlux hdd668b or many other options. when i saw the specs i have to say i was really really shocked. acurate specs if they were rated the way professional companies do there mesurings would be 25hz-15 maybe 16khz. and probably would only say on the package 20-20 like most cheap companies. the thd level is in .4 .5 range a lot of distortion. they may be able to take a lot of power but that does not make a difference unless you intend to use them as speakers. there impedence is very low and they are very loud. but that does not make up for lack of quality. you can do better. but for average listening they will feel okay.

Comments about American Audio HP 700 Professional High-Powered Headphones:

I purchased these headphones because of the price. I honestly was not expecting much but since I had dropped a lot of cash on other more important items I just needed a pair of headphones to make due until I could afford higher end headphones for my home studio. I have been a dj for over ten years and gone through my share of headphones. Now I am producing music and the durability need is not as important. So, for the price these headphones are actually quite impressive. The sound is great!! They are lacking on the durability side of things since they are made kinda cheap, but for the price they are well worth it. If you are gonna use them for studio work then go for it, especially if they are going to be a backup or a starter pair of headphones.

The cable came loose almost right after purchasing them. I super-glued the cable back in place to the left cup, but then had to move the 1/4" jack around in order to get a proper sound. They sound good when they work, but horrendous durability.
Cable fell out after a couple weeks of light use.

A Great Pair of Cans to Listen to Music With

          By TheLetheProject

          from Tustin, CA

Comments about American Audio HP 700 Professional High-Powered Headphones:

I got these headphones for Christmas, and I have to say that I am quite pleased with them. The sound quality is very nice: full bass, good mids, though the highs are a tad on the week side. A few minor issues, however: 1) They are a little bit heavy, as part of the ear cups are made of metal. 2)As with many over-the-ear headphones, they can be tiring to wear if you have glasses on all the time. 3) I'm not sure if it's standard on headphones of this quality, but there is no in-line volume control. Despite these minor qualms, these really are a nice pair of headphones to listen to music with (probably not to produce with, though). While they certainly are great, if you have the option, you might want to look at some Sennheisers in the same price range over these, like the HD428.

Comments about American Audio HP 700 Professional High-Powered Headphones:

I purchased these when I first started out. The Sound quality is amazing. I didn't have many distortion problems between recording with them vs what came out of the speakers. I work very often and after 2 months, they slowly fell apart piece by piece. THEY STILL WORK THO! So just keep duck tape handy.

          For listening to music

          By Brad-0PwZY

Comments about American Audio HP 700 Professional High-Powered Headphones:

I have a pair of these. They have a high sound quality, and are great for listening to your iPod. When it comes time to listen to your guitar, these are horrible. Every note is just drenched in muddy bass. It's not even just bassy, it's bassy with a horrible, cheesy sound. For listening to music, they're great. If you want to listen to your guitar, look elsewhere.

I've heard better, but the price was right.

Comments about American Audio HP 700 Professional High-Powered Headphones:

These are loud, and sound pretty good at high or low volume. No noticeable distortion. The vocal range of the frequency spectrum comes across with the "styrofoam cup" effect. Very boxy in that respect. The lows are way low and the highs are the slightest bit hazy, but mostly crisp. First listening test was done with Flim and the BB's "Tricycle" for reference. Overall, I'm mildly impressed with the range and handling of these phones, but I've heard better from Sennheiser HD-280s. For a few more bucks, if you're a stickler for 'true sound', I'd go with them, but for the price, these phones make a good extra pair for live monitoring or home audio purchase.

          Overpriced, frustrating

Comments about American Audio HP 700 Professional High-Powered Headphones:

Bought this product and am sorry. For the same price I could have purchased much better headphones especially for the studio. They're heavy on the ears, have murky response, and -- most frustrating of all, have a chord that must be 3' long. This was just intensely frustrating as it gives you no mobility to record, or even at a console, even if you plug it in to a headphone box.Mixes in the headphone also do not match at all what come out of the speakers.

i just purchased these from a local music store and have them hooked up to my iPod and they re-produce almost the entire vocal spectrum very well. I anticipate they will do very well on our DJ rig and after that I want to see how well they perform in a live sound environment, I am once again expecting a very good performance.
