I was surprised how great quality these lights are . I expected for the low low price of this unit that it would not be that great, It is built tough, works great, and the controller never messes up once... The foot pedal gave me exactly what was expected of it ..The chase is a bit to fast when it is in the audio mode and I wish it gave you the option to leave all lights on but other than those two things.. It is perfect ...... For the money ... every band should own a couple sets of these .They are linkable and provide a decent light show for smaller clubs... Like to have a couple more sets of them myself , but you know times are tough for working musicians...Good luck to all working musicians....Hard to make a buck with this unit being so reasonably priced you can't afford to be using anything elseBatteur
I purchased two LS-70 sets prior to a gig. The stands can extend nice and tall and are sturdy, as are the footpedals. The LEDs run cool but the sockets in the fixtures aren't very robust. A thin aluminum ring inside the ceramic socket holds the LED bulbs and upon arrival one was loose and wouldn't tighten and hold the bulb. With the gig in a few days I replaced it with a sturdier socket (NOT easy) but there is another one in the set that isn't holding well. The LEDs flicker when the power isn't absolutely clean. A standard outlet strip in place of the controller fixed the flicker. The controller doesn't seem to have an "all on" fixed schene mode unless put into "Slave" mode - another reason to replace the controller with a power strip.
This unit worked great on my first gig, Just had problems before the first gig messing with it. The foot peddle for the control kept messing up and sticking. Just had to file it down and it worked perfect after that.
I purchased this a couple weeks ago as an addition to my current setup. I got it out of the box and it worked great- it met all of my expectations. The only problems I have with it is that there is a faint electrical buzz with certain combination of lights, and the tightening sleeves don't seem too durable. Also, I found that you can make them all light up at the same time by holding the blackout pedal for a couple seconds and cycling through different combinations with the automix pedal. It is certainly a great system for what I paid for it.
Was impressed but...when used at first gig the controlers would not communicate. Foot switch locked up one controler and would not send to the other. Had to disconnect foot switch and slave connections to get the lights to function in chase mode at all.
I have used this unit for about 6 months. The unit shipped with the yellow light broken at the base, but since I needed it quick, I glued it and it worked for awhile. Now the Yellow LED light only lights up half-way. The control box is becoming tempermental and not consistently allowing me to switch between functions. The stand has also been an issue. The hand fasteners that control the height of the lights have stripped out, although easily fixed with a trip to the hardware store, annoying at best. Overall the unit works, but it doesn't stand up to the everyday grind of gigging. At this rate I will probably have to replace the unit within the next 6 months. A decent unit if you never have to set it up and tear it down frequently.
