Invaluable for sweetening vocal tracks.
Both the Automatic and Graphical modes start by instantaneously detecting the original pitch of a performance. This detection requires a periodic waveform, typical of a lead vocal or other solo instrument. The pitch detection algorithm is virtually instantaneous. Used in combination with a slight delay of about 5 milliseconds, the detected pitch can be corrected, without artifacts, to the desired pitch.
As the input pitch is detected, Auto Tune's proprietary pitch-correction algorithm changes it to the target pitch at a user-selected rate. The Auto Tune algorithm is extremely clean and transparent and introduces no distortion in the output. Over a typical pitch correction range, it is simply not possible to tell that a sound has been processed, except that it is perfectly in tune.
- Extensive automated and user-controllable pitch correction options
- Clean, transparent sound

When you listen to a CD or the radio this plug in is why the vocals sound perfect. Granted, you need a great mic, pre (Avalon), and a great ear but this is THE real deal. Just finishing a difficult project with disonant melodies over groove based tracks and would have gone nuts without having the ability to correct sylables without loosing the nuances of slurring into and out of particular phrasing sections of the vocals. The Auto Mode is for amateurs, get into the custom mode for the precise touch that will make this thing your new best friend... your clients' too. Combine this plug in with an alignment plug in and you can make great music with numerous harmony lines. One other tip; work with a qualified Pro Tools engineer. Just 'cause you can afford it doesn't mean you can dial it in.
