* Automatic Mono or Stereo Double Tracking - You can automatically mix a doubled track into the AVP's main output or route it to a separate output for post-processing and mixing.

NO POWER SWITCH HUH?? WALL WART TOO..NO XLRs

Features:

This is what the manual states "1. Non-existent Power Switch That’s  right. There isn’t one. The AVP is designed to remain on continuously.  You can, of course, plug it in to a switched power strip or power  conditioner if you like, but leaving it on all the time will do it no harm"...so you gotta wonder where else did they cut corners ???..having this put in with the other racks in my studio and use the AC conditioner power down to have to turn it off is not.. well is not good for me..but just so you know about Non-existent Power Switch, but other wise I like the product, because I got a good deal on it but at regular price I won't buy it too expensive.

Quality:

Cheap Chasis/funky front panel

Value:

Too pricey/no xlr of any kind

Overall:

I quess it's the brand name that jacks the price up

I have Perfect Pitch, is there anywhere we can calibrate a given scale in this machine? (guess I'll look in the manual again)

Features:

Conceptually, this is one of the coolest vocal processors I've seen for the price, but the parameters are not tight enough to fit it into my mixes without noticing that the key of the scale is not exactly perfect.  The detune function allows to compensate for this, but this is the main parameter that is just not tight enough between increments.  My throat is sore from trying to compensate for the machine.

Quality:

Parameters should not have been bundled together for ease to the degree present in the machine.  It would be nice to have the option to take the marginal nuances and shift them without affecting other nuances.  I found that the speed of the autotune was developed in conjunction with the effectiveness of the autotune function.  Although the sensitivity setting is available to work these parameters, the engineers should go back to the drawing board on this.  There's just not enough control here.

Value:

I didn't mind spending the money to get this unit brand new, but it should have cost half of what I paid for it.

Overall:

This unit does provide a smooth vocal channel compared to other units I've used for this purpose, but the autotune should have been the same caliber as the rest of the machine.

To the Elecrocution Victim...

You have other issues my friend.  This unit uses a 9 VOLT wall wart for power!  You could barely electrovute an ant with that.  Seriously.  What is MORE LIKELY the case is your rack rails are electrified by someother faulty piece of gear or the 1/4 connector you were attempting to plug in was.  I am guessing your studio buzzes like mad.  I suggest having a PROFESSIONAL evaluate your issue.  Furthermore, if the unit was blown out of the box as you say it was I guarantee you it happened when you hooked up your faulty wiring to it.  Cheers!

Pure Transparency

Any effect that changes your voice that is noticeable is not a good thing. The Antares is completely transparent when used properly. The only cons for this device I have found is the auto tune has to be manually set up for each song. If you are singing a note that is not in the normal major or minor scales it will try to correct it, unless you enter that note into the scale. Overall I feel for the cost this machine has a superior quality than the other pitch correctors on the market. In the studio it is essential however it might be troublesome used in a live application without a good sound man to run it for you. As for the guy that got zapped by the machine itself I understand your feelings but be aware that what happened to you was a fluke, This processor is very well made and has never given me or any other reviewer's problems like you had. The device could use XLR connectors along with the 1/4" jacks but that's only a minor issue solved by simply using a direct box or insert cable from the board. I highly recommend this unit. You can't make a bad vocal track using an Antares.
