I use the Aphex 661 in my bass guitar rig for live performance and future recording. Most traditional compressors are not suitable for all applications, a bass rig specifically. The 661 gives you the ability to tweak several elements of your sound to make it possible to use it effectively under most circumstances. Don't expect this unit to be an easy fix or to affect your overall tone, it true benefits afterall are in "what you don't hear" rather that in what you'll noticeably hear. You sound will, however, reach farther and not contribute to a muddy mix sometimes caused by low bass frequencies running wild. I suggest trying the Aphex 661 to harness those frequencies and deliver them with punch, precision, and full tone.
