OVERVIEW

Plug and play guitar interface with Apogee conversion.

JAM brings the legendary sound quality of Apogee to iPad, iPhone and Mac. Now guitarists can have a pocket-sized, plug in and play interface at an unprecedented price and experience ultimate tone with the guitar amps and effects in Apple's GarageBand software or other compatible applications.

Apogee JAM is a premium digital converter featuring PureDIGITAL technology which delivers your guitar's true tone to your iPad or Mac without compromise. JAM is the first high quality interface that makes a digital connection to both iOS devices and Mac. You will notice the sonic difference between JAM and other similar products immediately.

Who is JAM for?
JAM is great for beginners and advanced players who want a high quality guitar sound for practicing, recording, or just jamming on both iPad and Mac.

Ready to rock-status and level indication
It's easy to tell if JAM is connected properly by the status LED on the top panel. If it's green, you are ready to rock and the light becomes your input level indicator. If it turns red, you are rocking too hard and you need to turn your gain down with the control knob.

Crank it up and dial it in with easy level control
JAM features an input gain control knob. This rotary style wheel is conveniently located on the side of JAM for easy thumb access and allows you to dial in the level of your guitar without accessing software.

Did you know?
JAM is a true digital device featuring special circuitry designed specifically for guitar and bass. The Apogee engineers responsible for JAM's sound quality have created professional audio hardware found in recording studios around the world and heard on countless hit records.

The apogee jam might be the best equipment money I have ever spent. I am using a souped up macbook air as my main recording device. I am currently recording my own album using bare-bones equipment. I run everything into the jam. Guitars, bass, mics, you name it! If you can put 1/4 jack into it, it seems to take it. If you are recording 1 track at a time and on a budget, this is what you've been waiting for. I have dropped it once and it kept working fine, but I would not want to try it a second time. I keep mine in a tough eyeglasses case with its cable and that keeps it safe during travel. If you are looking for a simple recording device to use with your mac device that can deliver fantastic sound, break out the money now. I know some people have complained about the price, but for all the uses for it + the quality I think it's actually a deal.

I guess when I buy a product from Musician's Friend that is advertised as compatible with iPad, I expect it to be compatible with my IPad. But apparently the plug is different on the newer IPad and won't accomodate the older plug included in the package. So it's utility to me as a tool to use with an iMac and my IPad is reduced by half.

The worst part is that when I brought it to MF's attention, the best they could do is tell me to contact Apple.

Otherwise, it works fine on my iMac, but I still can't recommend it.

Comments about Apogee JAM Guitar Interface for iPad, iPhone, and Mac:

With the current interface options, this is the one to buy. I love mine...
Works great! I was up and running on Garage Band in minutes. I'm able to use the gain to adjust the input quality which is a big help. Garage Band interfaced very well with the Jam and I was recording in no time. I'm able to use the iPad speaker to monitor what I'm playing. I'd buy another one of these if I lost or broke this one.
Made of plastic, still much better build than the iRig interface (I own both). Anyone want to get a deal on my iRig unit...
The price seems a bit steep. But, it works a lot better than the iRig and the gain feature is really helpful in getting interface tuned with the iPad.

      Best Input Device hands down.

Comments about Apogee JAM Guitar Interface for iPad, iPhone, and Mac:

It works with Jamup, Sonoma 4 track, and Garage Band. It does not work with Amplitube. I think the limitation is not the device, but the apps and medium to where it's going. You are not going to get professional results from an Ipad. What you will get is nice quality demos - and this device gives you the best conversion going in. Garage band's guitar modeling is good for cleans and terrible for overdrive (fizzy and digital). Jam Up is the best sounding guitar modeling app, but I can't use it to multi track like I can in Garage Band. Sonoma 4 track is where you can really hear how well this device converts to digital. Hopefully more quality apps will surface where I can get the full potential of this device in one app. I like it, but felt is was a tad overpriced.
Pretty straight forward. It's an input device, but the gain setting is important so you can adjust depending on our guitar pickups.
Sound quality is great considering the medium in which the signal is being recorded (iphone and ipad). Build quality is ok, plastic. Probably could not take real heavy abuse but we shall see.
It's apogee, so it's pricey. Is it worth the price? Not quite, but since there are no other choices to rival the sound quality- I don't really have a choice

Lots of bang for the money! Does a great job with garage band for electric guitar on I-pad 3, but I also have used it with a tabletop mini analog mixer and SM58 for vocals thru clean amp apps with good results!

Comments about Apogee JAM Guitar Interface for iPad, iPhone, and Mac:

This replaced an old analog input I had been using for years, that had terrible latency.

I don't notice a bit of latency with the Jam. Great product. Easy to use.

My biggest complaint is that it's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

This is a great audio interface for iPhone and iPad.
Very easy plug and play on the go. I liked the fact that it is a U.S.A. made! it is a bit pricy but it is really a reliable AI that feels pretty sturdy. I use it for practicing and building loops on my Garage Band, and it does the job flawlessly.

Comments about Apogee JAM Guitar Interface for iPad, iPhone, and Mac:

35+ yrs. as a musician, 10 yrs. independent recording artist. This is by far the very best quality when using an iPad in conjunction with Garage Band or other recording software. The secret to the quality is that this is plugged into the lightning port not the headphone port, this makes all the difference in the world. It's 3x's the price of other similar pieces, but it also delivers 10x's the quality of signal without having to put up with noise or glitches. If it cost too much to afford right off the bat, save your money and wait to buy this before wasting your money on the other designed pieces. Buy this once and you'll never have to worry about this piece of the sound chain.
