ART

A full-featured headphone monitoring system.

The ART HeadAmp6PRO is a six-channel stereo headphone amplifier that includes a six-channel auxiliary input section that can be used to provide the popular "more-me" function on each headphone mix. Each output channel also features a dual-function balance control which will pan between the left and right sides of the main signal bus, or vary the mix between the main signal bus and the auxiliary input for that respective channel.

Bass and treble controls are included on each output channel for fine-tuning the tone. Outputs include both front- and rear-panel stereo 1/4" TRS jacks for ease of installation and quick patching capability. Two mono select buttons on each channel select between four operating modes: Stereo, Mono Left, Mono Right, and Mono Both (left and right) for versatile monitoring solutions.

The main outputs for each channel of the headphone amplifier are rear-mounted stereo TRS jacks wired in parallel with the corresponding output jacks on the front panel. Front-panel, rear-panel, or both front- and rear-panel outputs can be used simultaneously to drive headphones or be used as feeds to additional headphone amplifiers in a distributed audio network.

Input options include XLR and 1/4" TRS balanced inputs with matching Thru jacks for bridging multiple HeadAmp6Pro units. An additional front-panel stereo 1/4" TRS jack for quick patch override of the rear panel inputs is included for quick insertion of any stereo source. Eight-segment LED level indicators provide visual feedback of the signal level on all channels as well as the main signal bus.

Features

  • Six independent high-power amplifier channels
  • Bass and treble EQ per channel
  • Dual function pan/mix control per channel
  • Stereo aux input for each channel

  • Precision eight-segment LED bar graph per channel

WAS Fantastic... Until it fried and died.

Features:

Awesome features with with treble, bass, balance for each channel

Quality:

Channels began blowing out IMMEDIATELY after the warranty expired

Value:

If it didn't fry it would have been a great deal on a great product.

Overall:

I don't think that I just got a bad one. what happened to me, I'm seeing other reviews with the same issue. It was literally within two weeks of the warranty expiring that channel 1 fried out and the clip meter shot up to peak and stayed on. But I didn't worry too much about it, as i still had 5 more channels, right? Well not for long. Three more channels have since popped out of commission, and fried a $100 set of headphones with one of them. The most frustrating part is that neither ART nor Musician's Friend will do anything about it, as it is just barely out of warranty. (Not that I really expected Musician's Friend to do anything, as it really isn't their responsibility.)

So... if you like your headphones, and don't particularly like flushing $200 or more down the toilet, then I would have to say avoid this headphone amp. I learned the hard way this time. I guess I COULD have bought the extended coverage... but then crap would have been replaced with crap, right? I'll be going with Alesis or PreSonus from now on.

Features:

I give it an 8 only because perfection is rarely if ever achieved. But I would strongly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a quality headphone monitor system that delivers excellent sound reproduction and plenty, and I do mean plenty of power and headroom but who is also on a very strict budget as I am. I was torn between the Headamp 6 and the Headamp 6 Pro simply for the easy access to the Aux input on front on the Headamp 6 and I did not feel that Bass and Treble controls were that important for each channel. What won me over to the  Headamp 6 Pro was simply the 6 headphones that came with it for free because i needed headphones also. Remember I am on a budget or you can call me cheap...anyway. I am very pleased with my choice I have used it on several sessions in my basement studio with anywhere from 1 to 5 musicians including drummers and have found that it was more than up to the challenge, offering lots of power and the more me option is awesome for the drummer to give him a click without confusing or frustrating the other musicians. And the Bass and Treble is actually quite handy in dialing in the sound for some people and with the further option to select between Stereo, Left Mono, Right Mono or Combined Mono is very handy for creating somewhat individual mixes with only a few outputs from my Daw. The headphones really surprised me! They are definitely on the cheap end of the spectrum as I expected and they look like they are over the ear types in the photos but they are not. They are on the ear but they sound quite impressive, clear with good bottom end much more that I anticipated when I opened the first set and they handle alot of volume without breaking up again wow.

Quality:

So far I have had no issues it seems well built and of quality materials it feels like a solid piece of equipment! Unlike some of the other products out there that while they may do as intended they don't have the power, they do not fit in a rack and they are plastic and feel cheap.

Value:

With the headphones and the features it is an outstanding value for small setups like myself on a tight budget....You will thank yourself.

Overall:

Wow for the price you can't go wrong Headphones and a distribution syste!

I've seen many bad reviews on this product. However, If you're needing volume to track drums you might keep this in mind. I have some audio technica headphones that are workhorses. They handle 1500millawatts @ around 60 ohms. That is equal to 1.5 watts. That's a lot of power handling. But they are not comfortable after hours of recording. Now the lower the impedance the more the amp needs current from it's internal power supply. Just like if you have the signal in the red...If you lower the bass you'll get more SPL without the speaker distorting ( less excursion ).....  It is similar to active or passive crossover for the tweeter/mids protecting it from the bass frequencies...You will be less likely to blow out the headphones. with my old AKG's 600 ohm's when tracking drumset I had to place the bass control at -6db or at 9 o'clock on knob setting or speakers would dist or blowout. The only drawback is that it sounds thin but that won't effect the recording or final mix. Now I went back today to check on specs with this item and thought it had 1.5 watt output but it doesn't. I'm using my stereo receiver for headphone outs for over 25 years. I regret though that I did it on one receiver using the speaker outs with multiple jacks. I messed up 1 channel because I did not put 100 ohm or higher impedance resistors in line on plus side so when the headphones get unplugged when amp is on 1 channel shorted temporarily (zero ohms). With resistors inline on Rt & Lf  positive terminals.. when headphones get unplugged the amp won't see zero ohms but will see the resistor value and won't short out... The only drawback is everbody gets the same volume and mix. But that is not a problem with good experienced musicians. Just beginners.

Not at all impressed. Just received my replacement unit today after waiting 30 days for the unit to arrive at Musicians friend. The first one lasted 3 weeks and blew up my headphones. This new unit has problems right out of the box. Channel# 6 volume indicator light does not work. Not worth the hassle to return. I will wait till this one blows [ and it will ] and will up grade to a better product. This thing is junk.......!
