OVERVIEW

Monitor your sound direct from the PA!

The ART HeadTap Headphone Tap is a passive device with an input to connect the PA or monitor amplifier and an output to connect your headphones.

Sometimes floor monitors are a problem. There isn't enough room for them onstage or someone sits in and can't hear the monitors, or the drummer can't hear them well enough. Or perhaps it's a pickup gig or a rehearsal and you didn't have enough time to set them up. In any case, sometimes it's preferable to just to put on headphones and somehow connect them to the PA. That's where a headphone tap comes in. A volume control regulates the headphone output and internal resistors keep the unit's impedance high enough to protect the phones. It also protects the amplifier from encountering too low a load impedance while powering tap units, the speaker system, or several tap units by themselves. The HeadTAP will also work with a stereo headphone amplifier for use in recording situations when you want to add headphones for additional performers.

Awesome Headphone Amp

Comments about ART HeadTap Headphone Tap:

I've had this thing for a few years now and it is still going strong. Being a drummer I needed something that gave good sound and volume control and this little amp was perfect. This little guy can take good beating and still perform without a problem. The only reason I gave it a 4.5 on QUALITY is because I wish could turn up a little bit more. Don't get me wrong, I've been able to hear everything that I needed to just fine but you know... we always want more.

Comments about ART HeadTap Headphone Tap:

I'm a drummer for a worship band and had a problem where the only source of monitoring for me was a floor wedge. I wanted to start using a click and to use in-ears, but there was no way to line into a mixer due to the fact that my only source of a signal was speaker level Speakon to a floor wedge. This little guy was just what the doctor ordered. Using a Hosa Speakon to 1/4" adapter, I plug right into the floor monitor amplifier and run speaker cable to the HeadTap, which is then patched to my mixer. The sound is clean, crisp and controllable with the level knob, and the best part is that its passive so you don't need a power adapter. If you are a drummer and want to start using in-ears, this is a very simple and effective way to get the job done. Buy it. You will not regret it.

Works Exceptionally Well

By Crosstie

Comments about ART HeadTap Headphone Tap:

I've been looking for a way to go to in-ears for a while, I added a belt clip to the unit so I can wear it while playing. Combined with a set of Shure SLC3 (currently on sale!) and I'll never carry a wedge monitor again.

Dirt cheap and effective headphone monitoring

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about ART HeadTap Headphone Tap:

I play drums and was tired of losing my hearing with a full on drumset and a huge wedge in my ear so I switched to in-ears. Being a poor musician in a poor band, this seemed a perfect solution to drive my in-ears without changing anything else for the rest of the band or sound technician. The quality is right on. It works perfectly and is built strong and feels good. There are absolutely NO NOISE ISSUES that I expected from taking in an amplified signal. I use this box with a set of Shure e2's and I can hear everything (even when the backup singers clear their throats facing away from the mics) I don't even turn the volume halfway up and hear all I need to hear while playing full on drums. Good isolating in-ears are essential.

Comments about ART HeadTap Headphone Tap:

As a drummer, I was tired of being unable to hear the monitor mix over the drums and it got the point where I had a 15" wedge on an amp stand right next to me. This couldn't be good for anyone's hearing so I wanted to go in-ear. This looked like the easy solution: just plug this box in instead of a wedge and stick some monitors in your ears. It worked! I use Shure e2's and they sound great. I hear the rest of the band, save my hearing, and can play in the pocket easier than before. It's the best way to add your own in-ear mix to a wedge-set band or venue. Others in the band have started using in-ears since I got this guy and now we use this box to take a monitor level signal down to line-ish level to put into a 6-channel headphone amp when we don't have a line level signal from the board.Advantages:-totally quiet operation in my experience-passive. no power or adapters needed-parallel in/out to daisy chain to another wedge or wahtever. (btw, with 150ohm impedance, this box in parallel with an 8ohm wedge will only lower the total impedance to around 7.6 ohm, for those who care)-you own volume control-two headphone outputs if you want to share with someone else (with the same volume level)-strong, durable little box that i dont worry about at allDisadvantages: none that I've encountered.Get this, get yourself some QUALITY in ears. Don't use your ipod's headphones. But you could if you really didnt have a choice.

Comments about ART HeadTap Headphone Tap:

I use this as a monitor at church and it allows me to hear myself over the mix. sound is decent and does not introduce any noise. I use my amp speaker out through a peavey sdi which cuts off the amp speaker so i needed some way to have an in ear monitor and this works very well.
