I bought this little preamp not long before I submitted this review. I was looking for an inexpensive tube preamp that let me control a little more than just the volume. I found the V3, bought it and I like it very much. It's good for recording, especially when you don't have anything to put your Mics through before going into your recording interface. It's got all of your basic needs such as Phantom power, phase reverse and +20db gain switch. The voicing function is nice to have and most other preamps in this price bracket don't have that.

A common issue I read about in these reviews was it's too noisy. It's not noisy at all if you know how to use the thing. The +20db switch needs to be off. If it's on, it will generate noise just like anything else would when the gain is cranked. Put the Output at 12:00 and you are able to turn the input all the way up without noise. Turn the Output up to much and a slight noise will start to become audible. I think it's worth having especially if you record with any Mic going straight into your interface. It adds a bit of warmth to the Mic.

I have owned 2 and then gave up. My band mate also has one. Great sound, excellent for use with piezo pickups on acoustic instruments -- lifts the gain and warms and controls the sound. Has dB boost and signal inversion to cut feedback. The bad news is the quality control on manufacturing is horrible. Unit 1 developed a high dB hum, Unit 2 had a faulty input adjust pot. My bandmates unit has a faulty Vu meter. A.R.T: get your act together and ship tested products!

Decent mic preamp - low distortion if that's what you want. Can be used as direct box for guitar or bass and some distortion can be introduced.

Comments about ART Tube MP Studio V3 Mic Preamp:

I have been using this preamp as a supplement whenever I don't have the accessibility to use my 1073. Ill tell you what, if you blind fold me I may choose this over the 1073 60% of the time. The issue I have with this is that it seems to me that you only can set it and forget it. If you unplug and plug it in a bunch or over use the knobs it starts falling apart. I have designated cable that I never unplug from this use that way the ports the break. I just leave the cables in them and it "preset" where I need it. If you can do this with it then this is a great piece of hardware. If your constantly fiddling with your stuff, then maybe buy 2. It's is worth the money either way.

Comments about ART Tube MP Studio V3 Mic Preamp:

I read a review saying the ART will make a piezo pickup sound good so i ordered one and am glad i did. It works.

I have a Martin GPCPA5 with the FIshman piezo going into a Gigpro with just volume and gain turned up, plugged into a Loudbox mini and this preamp gives it a nice, full, throaty tone with very little to no string noise. Have tried a few other things and this is the one that works.

Comments about ART Tube MP Studio V3 Mic Preamp:

Took a chance on the unit to add a little color and warmth to my digital sources. Noticed a huge difference right away tracking Guitars, bass and vocals. I will be switching out the tube with a Mullard as i did with my Art VLA2 tube compressor which i also highly recommend! You simply can't beat the price for results this unit provides. My returning clients are all noticing the difference in the tracking results.

Great for vocals and more! I put this in my fender Hot Rod Deville effects loop. It livens up the amp nicely. Several of the settings enhance the highs and lows very well. This also allows me to set the volume higher on my amp and use the dials on the ART to control my overall volume. It makes my clean channel come to life!! DO NOT PLUG IT IN TO A SOURCE WITH PHANTOM POWER ON. THIS CAN DAMAGE THE UNIT.

Comments about ART Tube MP Studio V3 Mic Preamp:

I have had this for I think 4 years now... I run my vocals through it and it really warms em up (and anything that can help my voice is important!). As long as the settings are set right, there is no noise from it. Cool thing is, when I travel, I can put it in my bass flight case and use it as a DI if I can't take my amp.

I would buy it again if it went out. I have got my money's worth out of it and it is still going strong.

Comments about ART Tube MP Studio V3 Mic Preamp:

I bought this unit a month ago and it really helps boost the signal for vocals and acoustic guitar. Haven't used it a ton, but it seems to warm up the tones and boost the signal so far. The only problem I have is the VU meter does not work. It would be nice if it did, but I don't think I'll request a replacement because it doesn't seem to affect the sound coming out of it and I know what a hassle it is returning equipment to MF. You get what you pay for I suppose.
