OVERVIEW

An affordable studio mic and preamp combo that will yield surprising results

The MXL V63M/ART Tube MP Studio package includes an Art Tube MP Studio mic preamp, MXL V63M condenser studio microphone, tripod mic stand with fixed boom, and a 20 ft. Lo-Z microphone cable, giving you excellent recording equipment for professional sound capture.

MXL V63M Condenser Studio Microphone
The MXL V63M Condenser Studio Microphone has a 1" diameter, 6-micron-thick diaphragm that delivers high sensitivity and detailed recordings. Wired with Mogami wire for added clarity. With balanced, transformerless output for low noise. Encased in a heavy-duty brass enclosure. The MXL V63M has a cardioid pickup pattern and a frequency response of 30Hz-20kHz. 48V phantom power required.

Tube MP Studio Mic Preamp
The original Tube MP made pro-caliber tube preamping available to ordinary musicians and home studios. The MP Studio goes a step further by adding a VU meter for better level control and ART's OPL (Output Protection Limiter), which controls and maintains the output peak signal to protect hard-disk recording systems and soundcards. The VU meter reflects the impact of the OPL circuitry when it is activated, which allows more effective fine tuning of the audio signal. It is a valuable tool for recording in project and home studios and can also function as a DI box with impedance matching and preamplification for line-level sources. Includes a 3-year warranty.

MS-220 Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom
The MS-220 Tripod Microphone Stand has a thread adapter and tubular legs. Adjustable height from floor to top thread is 35" to 61-7/8". 30-1/4" boom is not adjustable.

Great Value for Voice Acting

By Mr. K-_bv.9

from Houston, Texas

Comments about V63M ART Tube MP Studio Package:

About a year ago I started doing some Voice Acting for PC Game Modifications. The old computer Mic I had was too weak, so I did a lot of on-line study and found the "ART V63M ART Tube MP Studio Package", to have the best reviews for the lowest price of any Mic I looked at. After using it to Voice a lot of Mods I find it to be perfect and the quality of the sound files to be better by far than any other less expensive Mic. The Pre-amp is very easy to use and has a wide range of control. The stand works, but don't use it where it might get knocked over. If you are looking for Value for a excellent Mic/pre-amp set up and don't need more than one input to record, this is the Mic/amp for you.

Comments about V63M ART Tube MP Studio Package:

When I first got this mic and tested it, it sounded pro studio quailty. I only use this mic on vocals since it has a nice tone when singing and dialog, but it works great. The preamp is what really hooks me though. The Art Tube works so well with my studio. It's VU meter is a very usefull tool with the output limiter built in also. On the down side of this whole kit s probably the boom stand. It isn't very durable and dosn't hold the mic too well. (I put a whrech on one of the legs to weigh it down) For the cash, a fantstic kit!

Comments about V63M ART Tube MP Studio Package:

This is the first mic of this type I've purchased for my home studio. I've used condenser mics before but this is way different. I use it with the ART tube Pre that came with the bundle, so that may also contribute to the warmth and closeness of the sound. I'm sure there is a difference between this mic and one that costs thousands of $$$, but I doubt there is a difference you could hear with my home studio setup. I basically record directly into my laptop from the Mic Pre...and it sounds wonderful! Vocals and acoustic guitar sound warm and bright. I highly recommend this mic. If you're having issues with the sound quality of this, or any phantom powered mic, it may be the mic pre you're using...that's a very important element of a good, big sound, and the one bundled with this package is GREAT!

Comments about V63M ART Tube MP Studio Package:

I have been recording with other people for years, but wanted to do some home recording as well. I bought this as my first (and current) home setup. The only con I have (and this may be due to my inexperience) is that the mic picks up very well. Anything with a "S" or "P" seems to be a bit hissy. The reason I didn't list it in cons, is because I am a novice at home recording. It is a whole different ballgame opposed to solely recording, so it could be a user error on my part.

Comments about V63M ART Tube MP Studio Package:

For the price I had to try the package. The mic is very similar to a Rode NT-1. I have tried it on vocals and found it to be very precise across the frequency's. A few things to note, you must use a pop screen, I would not suggest you use this with out a vocal booth it is very sensitive. It easily ranks with my 414 and solid tube. The Tube MP works as advertised, be careful with the input gain it will distort easily. All in all a nice package.
