Audio-Technica

Very affordable and very good.

The Audio-Technica ATW-252 Freeway VHF Wireless Microphone System is designed to provide reliable performance, easy setup and clear, natural sound quality. The Freeway VHF Wireless System from the 200 series includes the ATW-R250 receiver, and the ATW-T202 handheld microphone/transmitter. A novel dipole antenna system on the receiver improves operation by providing a ground element in addition to the usual signal element.

ATW-R250 receiver

The ATW-R250 receiver includes a space-saving switching power supply that automatically adapts to changes in mains voltage. Unlike bulky linear power supplies, this switching power supply is lightweight and compact; it uses only a single outlet space.

ATW-T202 Handheld transmitter

The ATW-T202 handheld transmitter features a unidirectional dynamic microphone element. The ATW-202 handheld transmitter uses internal 9-volt battery and has an Off/Standby/On switch, input Trim (level) adjustment and battery-save switch.

Consumer Alert:

Most users do not need a license to operate this wireless microphone system. Nevertheless, operating this microphone system without a license is subject to certain restrictions: the system may not cause harmful interference; it must operate at a low power level (not in excess of 50 milliwatts); and it has no protection from interference received from any other device. Purchasers should also be aware that the FCC is currently evaluating use of wireless microphone systems, and these rules are subject to change. For more information, call the FCC at 1-888-CALL-FCC (TTY: 1-888-TELL-FCC) or visit the FCCs wireless microphone website at: www.fcc.gov/cgb/wirelessmicrophones.

Great Mic for the Money

Features:

I have owned my Audio-Technica 252's for over 2 years. I use them every week for my karaoke shows. They have never failed me. Yes, you do have to change the batteries after about 12-15 hours of use, but who cares. The quality of vocals and sound from these mics stand far and above some of the much more expensive wireless systems that I've heard and used (Shure, Seinnheiser). For those that complain about cut-outs...it tells you on the box that it has a 30ft. range. I've used them from up to 50 ft. away with a full charge battery. People compliment the sound all of the time. FYI, I use a Numark FX Mixer, Behringer B215D Speakers and my Audio Technica mics, all of which I purchased from Musician's Friend. I highly recommend these mics!

Quality:

Great quality, just don't let the drunks drop them on the floor.

Value:

Exceptional value!

Overall:

I would highly recommend this product.

This is a decent little mic.  The pros first, the quality is way better then anything in its price range.  It has a decent sound if the source is strong.  It is lightweight.  Cons, VHF, cutouts, eats batteries.  So experiences,  I have used two of these for use in a school auditorium and gymnasium.  I have also used it for weddings.  Lots of cutouts during peprallies and games.  Had problems picking up the voices of the female teachers because they had very weak voices.  My principal, I and other coaches had no problem projecting through the system and didn't have as many problems. Mine has held up to many drops and moving around.  So in my opinion it is a great lightweight product, but do not expect a professional piece of equipment, I mean look at the price.

I was looking for a mike with out drop outs.  This one is not it.  When the Audio-Technica ATW-252 Freeway VHF Handheld Wireless System first arrived I hooked it up and tested the reception up stairs down stairs even going outside at my house.  It was great, no drop outs.  I have used this brand in hard wired mikes and have always liked the sound.  This mike has great sound.  When I used the unit for the first time in a reception Hall it was to much for the transmitter to handle and the drop outs were many.  With the mike set on high power or low power seems to make little difference.  It does reject feed back well.  I have used the mike in many venues and the results are same.  Sounds good but drop outs way to much.  Next time I'll go with a UHF system to give it a try. I expected more from the Audio-Technica brand, for the price I should have known it would have a flaw.
