I picked up one of these mics just to test it out on drums, and possibly vocals. I imediatly hooked it up to my P.A. for vocals. The results were stunning. The mic has crisp clear response across a wide range of frequencys with little proximity effect, and incredible definition. With alittle EQ this mic is resonable on guitar cabinets (it can sertainly handle the high spl's). For drums i thought it might make a good overhead, but i was able to use it on the toms as well. It has exccellent noise rejection and i have had impressive results with little phase trouble. All in all, it's a good mic, and a good value. It's not the best money can buy, but certainly the best buy for the money. I would definately recomend it.
I think the response for this mic is perfect for stereo techniques and for recording live performances of classical artist. I would also love to have the pair of AT3032 for using in the mixing. the response is incredible, and the level for distortion is amazing, what pure sound.
I bought a couple of these after looking over the specs, thinking they would be a pretty good mic at a pretty good price. They far outperformed my expectations and I immediately bought two more. I have used them in studio and on stage for cymbals, hi-hat, and acoustic guitars thus far. They compare very favorably with the AKG-451B at less than 1/2 the cost. You can't go wrong with this mic!
