I recently got involved with praise and worship at my church, and since I am stuck in a drum cage I needed something with some isolation. The only thing I wish is for a little more noise isolation, but I wasn't expecting these to give me 100% anyways. For the price, they definitely meet expectations. They look and sound great, and they're compact for easily carrying around in the pouch that comes with them. I would definitely recommend these to others.

I bought this to have another cheap pair of tracking headphones. I like the bass, tight, punchy, but a bit over-EQ'd. The highs are what really kill it; they're harsh and distorted sounding. I have professional amps and interfaces, so I know it's not just the headphones. I plugged them in and turned them up and just let them run 24/7 (without wearing them) for a few days, and they broke in fairly nicely. They're lightweight and seal pretty well though, so they'll get their use. They're definitely worth using as a back-up tracking pair, but I won't be deviating from AKG's headphones anymore.

In short, they sounded bad out of the box, alright with some burn in (hopefully I'll see more improvement; highs tend to improve with brand new drivers), but they seal well and are loud enough to be useful for tracking in the studio. I got a good black friday deal, so I don't regret it, but I won't be rushing to buy another. The other cans I have on hand for tracking are AKG K171 mkII, which are far superior (also considerably more expensive).

Comments about Audio-Technica ATH-M30x Closed-Back Professional Studio Monitor Headphones:

I use them in the recording studio for situations where you don't need trac bleed through headphone playback such as vocals etc. This model seems to be the choice of most pros for the price point. I see lots of them in all kinds of recording venues. They come with a long length cord and adapter so you have plenty of cord to move around freely. Audio Technica builds great stuff

If you enjoy acoustic music buy these headphones. The acoustic instruments seem so close with these. There is just a sweetness to the upper midrange.

These are excellent headphones. If you are looking for a pair that will bring your digital music to life, buy these. If you are a practical audiophile (i.e., not insane and just want to enjoy music) splurge for the m50x. The flat tuning, the meatier drivers, and the slightly larger dynamic range will make just about everything sound live and right in front of you.

My apartment's acoustics are not very good. Hard to play my guitar loud off my amp. Headphones make it easier so the neighbors don't complain

Good sound quality, blocks out outside noise, nice carrying pouch, good long cord would be good if cord is detachable because adapter broke but were able to use the 45 day return. Thank you Musicians Friend.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATH-M30x Closed-Back Professional Studio Monitor Headphones:

I am a professional medical transcriptionist/editor and I have been looking for a set of good headphones to use for listening to medical dictation. These are made for music, but I decided to try them anyway, because they are compact and will fold up when you are done using them. They also fit around your ear, and block out a lot of ambient noise. They work very well, and I can hear every nuance of the sometimes difficult dictators' voices, so I am less apt to miss anything. I have also used them to listen to music, and I can't believe how much more of the music I am able to hear very clearly! These are very comfy, and I have to wear them for 8 hours at a time. They are very lightweight and non-pinching, but stay in place. The price is more than fair for these, so don't be afraid to try them. They are well-made and not chintzy. I do want to mention that they come shipped with the larger plug for studio outlets, but that the smaller adapter is underneath the larger one, you just have to unscrew the larger gold-plated plug first.
