This a great set of headphones. They're fairly neutral, and sometimes heavy bass seems to overwhelm them and sound muddy. Other than that, they're very accurate. Certain recordings really stand out when they have good production behind them. Poor MP3s, bad production and over-engineered pop won't sound good on these. Go get your Beats by Dre if fidelity isn't what you're looking for.

I have a decent set up at home with Bowers & Wilkins speakers that sound phenomenal. They're amazing, but there were little things I never noticed before, or stood out better on a few songs. Kansas' Dust in the Wind has bongos at the end that are usually very faint that stand out nicely. I heard guitar string imperfections and Shannon Hoon's voice cracking (in a good way) on Blind Melon's Change, Tones of Home, and No Rain. Acoustic guitars sound perfect. If you like to hear instruments and vocals, this set is for you.

My one complaint is that the volume level is slightly low when played on my Nexus 7 tablet. Not low enough to where it can't be heard, but in a noisy environment like an airplane, it might be a problem. I'll be flying next month, so I'll have to update this afterwards. It may be more in the tablet, though. I'm trying a couple apps to resolve it. My Droid Razr Maxx HD seemed to play louder. There were no volume issues using my Yamaha DSP-A1 receiver, through. It'll play loud enough to blow your ear drums.

I have a larger melon (head), and these fit me perfectly without needing to be adjusted (extenders all the way in). People with a smaller head may find them falling off. They're plenty comfortable with the ear and head padding. I wore them for about 3 hours the first night and didn't have any comfort issues. Ambient noise levels can be heard with these on. I had a football game on and was able to hear the announcers.

The cable is long, as many people have stated. It's 11 feet. I could use 1 more foot to reach my sweet spot on my couch, so I like it. But I do wish they were plugged on both ends to allow for a shorter cable when needed. Velcro ties will work to keep things in check, though.

In the box, you'll find a pleather carry pouch and an adapter for the plug to fit larger headphone jacks.

I have some AT M40fs studio phones that have a very balanced frequency response. They are getting old and I wanted a new pair. The M35's were on sale and I thought they would be similar. The bass is much more heavily emphasized in the M35's. I get a completely different sound out of my studio recordings with these cans. Regular MP3s also sound muddy/unbalanced. I switch back and forth between the M40fs and the M35 and find so much more in the M40fs in terms of detail. Also, the M35's fold up every time I take them off. This might be a minor detail for someone else, but in my recording studio they are off and on very often and having to unfold them every time is annoying.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATH-M35 Studio Headphones:

The M35 sounds very good. I use it to listen to music while my wife watches TV. It is also good to use with my guitar and amp around the house. I can turn it UP and there is no external sound. The sound quality is excellent. It carries the bass without getting muddy, the mid-range is smooth and the high end is clear. I also bought the ATH30 for a spare. Of course the high end headphones have better sound and features, but for much less, the M35 is a quality headphone. 1/8" gold plated jack 11' cord. A 1/4" gold plated adaptor is included.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATH-M35 Studio Headphones:

I bought these to use as an extra set of headphones to keep around my studio. They were inexpensive and recieved good reviews, which is what drew me in to begin with. After putting them through a couple hours of work, they were easy on the ears; they were comfortable, not to mention that the sound is well balanced and accurate. They are not the top of the line, butI will probably buy more.

    Great price - Great product!!

Comments about Audio-Technica ATH-M35 Studio Headphones:

I recently bought the Audio-Technica ATH-M35 headphones for use with our digital piano. I had never bought from Audio-Technica before, but the price was right. The headphones are of a much better quality than I had anticipated. Great sound, very comfortable, lightweight, and the cord is plenty long enough, and has a stress reliever at the base to protect from damage. I would highly recommend these to anyone.....

I've only had these a short time, but am very impressed with the quality so far.
Great price on a great product. Much better than other similarly priced phones that I've seen in stores.

I love this headset. The sound and price were great. So glad it has a long cord so I can move around with it within several feet. Wish the headpiece was adjustable to make it a little smaller.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATH-M35 Studio Headphones:

They're not the most accurate headphones you'll ever have over your ears, but they can't be beat for the price! I've owned a set of these babies for about five years; they're comfortable, reliable, and they are accurate enough for tracking sessions. If you're looking for a great value, look no further.

ATH-M35's seem be what I was needing for practicing my guitar without disturbing anyone. I am sure you can find better sounding headphones, or you may just spend 3 times as much and not have much change in sound. For my use these are just fine. I like the long straight cord. They also come with a good little pouch for storage.
