I use this set in conjunction with my Behringer MA400 monitor headphone amp. while playing my drums behind a acrylic wraparound in my church. The frep. response is fantastic. I mic's my drums and the cymbals through the headphones are as if I didn't use them at all with the quality of sound. They do block out a lot of outside sounds and the soft cushion ear piece, no matter how comfortable they are do get a little uncomfortable after awhile. The lateral swivel is somewhat limited, but no big deal. The construction is top quality and the price is excellent. I have used all kinds and brands of headphones and I gotta say that this is by far the best that I have ever owned.

Sorry to say that these headphones do indeed squeeze the heck out of my ears! The padding is very thin, and the speaker part within the padding circle actually presses against my ears. I don't care how good they sound, I can't stand to use them. This is disappointing, because they seem like good headsets. But these headsets are like a knife with no handle and only a blade that cuts into your hand while you try to use it.NOTE: I have more headset time than most people, having been a sonar operator on submarines, as well as a private pilot. I know good, comfortable headphones, and these are not.

Great Noise Reduction

By Musicality

from South Gate, CA

This is a great buy. I planned on purchasing a pair of Sony Pro MDR-7506 Headphones like the ones at our schools production studio, but instead decided to go with the Audio Technicas. These Headphones offer great noise reduction for multitracking. The coiled cables is a bit short, and can get a bit annoying because it is on the left earcup. All that aside these headphones are great for multitracking and monitoring the mix. Very nice and comfortable fit.

Wow!

These headphones are absolutely amazing! They get such a nice bass sound out of them. I play multiple instruments so these are plugged into electric drums and guitar/bass amps and on everything they just sound great. I say these are worth the money, no question. Buy them, you wont be disappointed. I use them while recording.

I just got these headphones last week and I'm still stunned when I use them. Great responce and VERY comfortable to wear for a long time. My sessions go for hours at times and I'm amazed at the comfort they supply. I'm glad I didn't spend 200 + dollars on a set when these are perfect for my needs.

Where is the sound??

By 7ate9

I bought these based on their high rating on this site. I'm sorry, but I have had them for a month and can't stand using them for more than 5 minutes. As far as comfort, there is none. These will pinch your head and make your ears sweat due to their 'snug' fit. The sound output is even less desirable. There is almost zero high end, midrange is muddy, and the stereo field is so tiny it sounds like you're listening in mono. Compared to my Sony MDRs, these don't even come close for me. I wouldn't use these for recording, mixing, or leisure. But I guess you get what you pay for...

For the people that say this is uncomfortable, Ear crushers, Pinch head. You must have a super big head and ears these are comfortable! I had a surgery on my ear years ago so I have some bone missing behind it. They are very sensitive and I could where these all day! O ya did I mention CLARITY! They sound as good as my Monitors! You need to break these in. So hook them up to your ipod and put it on shuffle for awhile after that there awesome! nuff said.

Not worth the price

By LEGEND

from California

These headphones did not meet my expectations for a set in this price range. They are excellently constructed, but the sound is lacking, especially in bass. It sounds very light and high, the bass is practically non-existant. Overall sound is mediocre, it sounds slightly muffled.

What a Surprise

By Gelomatron

Wow, these headphones are far better than I had even expected. I've never even owned a legitimate pair of phones before today, but I listened to my favorite song today, and I noticed things I'd never heard before. And not only that, but when you first put them on an press play, the bass is just amazing. I don't get this much bass from my stereo near-feild monitors on my computer. What a product. And it comes with the 1/8" and 1/4" adaptors. Awesome.

Another great Audio Technica product!

By Peter-m_HbR

from Vancouver, BC

I have had the pleasure of working with the M30's in the past and they were awesome. So when I took up DJ-ing recently, I knew Audio Technica would be a great company to start my search. As it turns out, that's where it finished too. These ATH-PRO5V's are great. I have read all the online reviews I could get my hands, but have not encountered any of the negatives mentioned. These headphones have GREAT bass. I have an above-average sized head, but they fit me perfectly. And lastly, I bears repeating that they sound amazing!

Professional Headphones

By RadianChalant

from Northwest of Pittsburgh, PA

These headphones are pretty good. They let you hear sounds that you could not hear through other headphone. They are clear with a sufficient amount of bass. If they are too tight, flex the headband a few times then try again. I play the bass and lead guitars, so I need to hear my sounds, as well as other sounds. Buy these.

Broke FAST

By Rubberman1976

from Texas

I had these for all of 2 months when they broke. Only one side of the phones works now...I have tried all kinds of fixes and am getting no response from Audio Technica. The features are nice like the tight 1/8" to 1/4" connectors and the spring close ears, but durability is a ZERO. Get something else.

Once you put these on, you will not take them off...These are the best sounding headphones I have heard in my life. I read the reviews and I had to buy them. The reviews were right! Extreme Cleanliness and Definition. If you don't have these and have the money to buy them, buy them over anything else. Bose should copy these things they are so good.

Nice...

By WickedLoud1

from Maryland

Just got my set of these today in the mail and, I have to say that they are leaps and bounds better than anything I have been using for the last 10 or so years. On first impression I would recommend them to anyone for a decent quality/ budget priced set of studio headphone monitors. Bass is great, nice solid responsive drivers as well as crisp mids and highs.. Comfortable too! Great product, lets see how long they hold-up?!?

Good Buy

By bkk55

from New Jersey

I bought these headphones after my cat chewed the wires on my Denon headphones. In comparison, these are a lot better. The sound quality is great. The sound is very crisp in comparison to my old pair. The only complaint that I have is that they pinch the hell out of your head. They start to irritate you after 5 mins of use. Eventually, I got so annoyed and stretched them out by pulling the ear muffs apart from eachother. This solved the problem and now they feel great! They very durable and sound great. A good combination for the money in my opinion.

Very Nice.

By excitingleopard

These headphones are very nice. I like them because they make music sound like it is in the room with me. I like that. Also, they are quite comfortable. They are very nice and I like them. There is much nice clarity, regarding the full range of musical acoustics. All in all, they are some nice headphones.

Loud n Clear

These phones are perfect for the home recording enthusiast. I Bought them on a stupid deal a while back when I was looking for new headphones and I'm glad I did. These are easily worth double what they're asking for them. The Clarity and Frequency mix is comparable to my studio monitors. I suppose it's possible they might hurt your ears if you have HUGE ears. they are the most comfortable and clearest sounding phones I've ever worn. I was gonna buy some bose but now... I think I'll just stick with these.

Fantastic headphones

By Joe Lamb

from New Jersey

See all my reviews

These Audio-Technica ATH-PRO5Vs Monitor Headphones feature crisp, clear sound with a perfect "punchy" bass. People have stated it lacks bass, and I have to 100% disagree. I uses these bad boys for basic home-studio recording and casually listening, and it excels at both. There is no need to buy higher.
