Audix does not realize this, but I?m sure they love me.I am a pro drummer and I use this microphone for my bass drum. When we do concerts, I bring it and tell the sound guy I want to use the D6 instead of what he was planning on using. Almost every single time, after the concert, they are asking me all kinds of questions about the D6. They loved how easy it was to work with and how it sounded. As a drummer, I will never get to hear exactly what the audience hears, so I can only tell you about my experiences with the Audix D6 after the show. Bottom line, the sound guys love it and always compliment the Audix D6 after they have heard it through their sound system. Try Audix. They are a smaller company and they pay more attention to detail.

The d-6 has disappointed me completly, after lots of good reveiws from almost everywere I looked, the d-6 simply deosn't do the job. the sound is "ok" but the output this thing gives is really low. I have to add thousands of plug ins to get the volume I want. MaybeI got a deffective mic, but the d-6 should be a perfect mic and mine was far from it. Even with the gain volumes really high it is still hard to get a good feed.

Comments about Audix D-6 Sub Impulse Kick Microphone - Brushed Aluminum Special Edition:
Though this mic is comparable to the Shure B52, it quickly became my favorite. It is capable of a crisp attack and a tight low-end. It isn't plug-n-play; it takes time to EQ, but the same goes for any mic used by an engineer that knows what he wants.
It is easier to position than the B52 because it isn't as bulky. It has a low-profile clip that allows you to get the mic inside the kick drum, right where it sounds the best. (I've also used it pretty effectively in front of a head that doesn't have a hole.) The clip doesn't stay super-tight, but I'm not complaining because it works well enough for me.
Definitely a great purchase!

Easiest kick mic.
Comments about Audix D-6 Sub Impulse Kick Microphone - Brushed Aluminum Special Edition:
I bought this mic a month ago and fell in love with it the minute i plugged it in. i use it for recording on the bass drum along with the rest of the audix set. for live shows i throw this bad boy in front of our ampeg bass combo amp and it takes all that one-directional good stuff and brings it from all the angles, taking that bass sound to the next level. Buy this, you will be happy.

I had my D6 give out (probably due to my own negligence) and emailed them and they called me up and had me send it in to get fixed, with no cost and questions. Gotta love that kind of service, great company!

I got one of these for christmas and i absolutely love it. No EQ needed! Thats what i love about the D series by Audix. With this on my Tama Starclassic Kick drum you can feel every kick as if someone was punching you in the chest (in a good way). Worth every penny, dont even think about it!

I use this mic to amplify my stand up bass. I also use a sennhieser 602 mic. I have never used a better mic than the d6 to mic any bass instrument. Absolutely worth the money.
Comments about Audix D-6 Sub Impulse Kick Microphone - Brushed Aluminum Special Edition:
Whether using the Audix D6 or the Sennheiser E902 I get a great sound with little EQ. Used them both in studio, clubs, and large outdoor concert tours. I always reccomend a condenser in addition to get the best sound. Actually Audio-Technica has a nice dual element, but for a single this and the sennheiser are great. I never liked Shure, the mics were so old fasioned, and the audix d series but them to sleep. I also highly reccomend you try Sennheiser and Audio Technica. For a snare I'd reccomend sennheiser's snare mic, or the Audix i5. It's basically a new school, hot roded SM57 with as good a sound as the beta 57, for the cost of the SM. Sounds even better, smooth and even. Either the audix or the sennheiser works great. Can't beat those for snare and dynamic mics for drums.
Comments about Audix D-6 Sub Impulse Kick Microphone - Brushed Aluminum Special Edition:
Very easy to work with, just put on a stand in the kick drum and it sounds killer. All the parts are already there without any EQ. The lows are boomy and the mids and highs punch right through. Would reccomend for any live or recording application.
