Audix does not realize this, but I?m sure they love me.I am a pro drummer and I use this microphone for my bass drum. When we do concerts, I bring it and tell the sound guy I want to use the D6 instead of what he was planning on using. Almost every single time, after the concert, they are asking me all kinds of questions about the D6. They loved how easy it was to work with and how it sounded. As a drummer, I will never get to hear exactly what the audience hears, so I can only tell you about my experiences with the Audix D6 after the show. Bottom line, the sound guys love it and always compliment the Audix D6 after they have heard it through their sound system. Try Audix. They are a smaller company and they pay more attention to detail.

The d-6 has disappointed me completly, after lots of good reveiws from almost everywere I looked, the d-6 simply deosn't do the job. the sound is "ok" but the output this thing gives is really low. I have to add thousands of plug ins to get the volume I want. MaybeI got a deffective mic, but the d-6 should be a perfect mic and mine was far from it. Even with the gain volumes really high it is still hard to get a good feed.

I had my D6 give out (probably due to my own negligence) and emailed them and they called me up and had me send it in to get fixed, with no cost and questions. Gotta love that kind of service, great company!

Comments about Audix D-6 Sub Impulse Kick Microphone - Brushed Aluminum Special Edition:

Though this mic is comparable to the Shure B52, it quickly became my favorite. It is capable of a crisp attack and a tight low-end. It isn't plug-n-play; it takes time to EQ, but the same goes for any mic used by an engineer that knows what he wants.
It is easier to position than the B52 because it isn't as bulky. It has a low-profile clip that allows you to get the mic inside the kick drum, right where it sounds the best. (I've also used it pretty effectively in front of a head that doesn't have a hole.) The clip doesn't stay super-tight, but I'm not complaining because it works well enough for me.
    Definitely a great purchase!

Comments about Audix D-6 Sub Impulse Kick Microphone - Brushed Aluminum Special Edition:

I recently purchased the Travis Barker Signature mic pack. This pack includes the D-6. I have since then been using it on my own drum projects and using it for sound reinforcement with many different styles of music. I have found that the best sound (in my opinion) is a fat, deep, sound. It is so easy to use and so easy to get out of it what you want. Positioning this mic is very easy. Just throw it in your kick drum and it sounds pro. I haven't used it to record yet, but I hope to soon. The only disadvantage I have found is that it's too much for jazz and I'm scared to use it in busy clubs (scared someone will scratch, break, or steal it!).

    Absolutely The Best Kick Mic

Comments about Audix D-6 Sub Impulse Kick Microphone - Brushed Aluminum Special Edition:

Never heard a better kick mic. Have used it outdoors to indoors with hardwood floors and block walls. I'm always able to great the great low end and click of the kick. As with all kick mics a compressor/gate should be used. Have miced-up 5 different kits in 1 evening and it requires little if any re-eqing. I'm getting Audix all around the drum kit (except snare...still can't beat the sound of the SM57).

I got one of these for christmas and i absolutely love it. No EQ needed! Thats what i love about the D series by Audix. With this on my Tama Starclassic Kick drum you can feel every kick as if someone was punching you in the chest (in a good way). Worth every penny, dont even think about it!

Very easy to work with, just put on a stand in the kick drum and it sounds killer. All the parts are already there without any EQ. The lows are boomy and the mids and highs punch right through. Would reccomend for any live or recording application.

Comments about Audix D-6 Sub Impulse Kick Microphone - Brushed Aluminum Special Edition:

Bought the Audix F6 and was disappointed. Returned the F6 and ordered the D6. Totally better mic for what I am doing. The D6 is killer on my 4X10 bass cabinet. Easy to place for great sound. I personally like what it can do when placed directly in front of one of the speakers. The F6 is probably a good mic but if you are looking for a killer mic for bass drum, bass cabinet miking go for the Audix D6. It is worth it and won't leave you wondering.......it is a great microphone !!! Great value.

I am usually at the mercy of a venues engineer. Most for me lack experience. Having the D-6 has solved many a headache. Start with flat EQ and most of the time you are there. One trick Pony? maybe, but a very good trick it is.

Decent sound out of the box. Lows were there, highs were clear. A little EQing later we found ourselves faced with an overwhelming barrage of machine gun fire. This mic delivers tight low end chest-shaking frequencies as well as ridiculous punch and clarity. A must for any blast beat artist. . .
