I bought two of these microphones for my studio and they're held up by a couple of DR Pro boom stands, which by the way are the sturdiest stands ever. These mics are used as overheads in my setup; mainly. But, I also use them along with my Audio Technica at2050 to mic acoustic guitars, vocals, and even my school band and orchestra. These mics are just as good as the high end microphones, such as the AKG condensers and the Rodes and even the Shures (SM81). I know because I have used these other condensers as well, but for the crystal sounds, the superb value( I can tell that these babies are going to last a while, because I've already droped them a few times and they don't even have scuff marks on them), and an overall score of 5.0 out 5. well, I'd just have to say that if you don't buy a pair of these right now, you are throwing your money down the toilet on other microphones.

This mic is a little light on the low end, which makes it perfect for a hi-hat or ride cymbal, because you don't have to use EQ to get that gross low ringing out. As overheads I preferred Oktava MC012's which pick up the low end a lot better, but like I said, this is an awesome hi-hat or close-cymbal mic.

This is a surprisingly GREAT mic

Comments about Audix F15 Condenser Microphone:

I use these as overheads in a live situation. I also own the RODE NT5s - which I use for recording. The RODE mics are a much better sounding mic in recording apps, but they are a little fragile to withstand the rigors of the road. I bought the Audix mics because they are built tough and can take a beating. They are definitely road worth. As for the sound... to my surprise they sound pretty damn good. Especially in a live situation. I use them to capture the entire kit... along with a D112 kick mic and a Beta57 on the snare. I've played some pretty large venues and found this configuration to be much better then close micing the entire kit. Good job Audix.

Comments about Audix F15 Condenser Microphone:

For the past year I've been using these mics as overheads for my drums in live applications. Recently however Ive been using them for recording and they sound fantastic. Other reviews have said that "for the money" these are great, and though that is true, money aside these are still great mics. They're an all around great condensor mic and a quality audix product.

Comments about Audix F15 Condenser Microphone:

Bought two of these on sale to use at our church. We use them to mic all kinds of instruments, and even group vocals. We liked them so much that we just ordered four more of them to mic parts of our orchestra. Full, rich sound. Note that these must be phantom powered, but work very well. Cannot recommend them enough!

Comments about Audix F15 Condenser Microphone:

I bought the Fusion pack and didn't really think too much of this mic until I used it to mic a small amp. I was sold. Captures just what you hear. Now I use it for shakers and tambourines and overheads as well as acoustic guitar. It's really a great mic. It was much less expensive when I got it, so some one is catching on to its value.

      • Overhead Mics For Drums

Comments about Audix F15 Condenser Microphone:

After seeing this mic offered as a Stupid Deal of the Day, I did some checking and found solid reviews on a variety of sites and forums. Since I had been considering new condenser mics as overheads for mu drum kit, I decided to take a chance that this would be what I needed and bought 2. These mics are being used in our practice space to make sure the drums are in the in ears monitor mix, and are being used live. These do a great job of handling both situations, and impressively so. These mics have done a great job of picking up the shimmer of my cymbals, as well as picking up the toms and snare.

I am so glad that I bought these mics, and I would recommend them highly for anyone mic'ing a drum kit.

Comments about Audix F15 Condenser Microphone:

This is an amazing microphone for the price. I'm a professional drummer for a living and I bought two of these to use as overheads live. They sound crisp and clear and pick up all your drums excellently. I find that I don?t really need to mic up my toms. The F15?s pick them up perfectly too along with my cymbals. I also use an Audix i5 on my snare and an Audix D6 on my bass drum. With these 4 microphones, I?m good to go baby! Audix does not get the credit or exposure they deserve for the quality of their products.Try the Audix OM5 or Audix OM2 vocal mics if you are a singing drummer like me. It just doesn?t get any better.
