Another reviewer says "get 2 MXL 990's instead of the F15's and SM57 and a beta 52!! Way better."Hmm. No. NOOO. MXL 990's are some of the worst condenser mic's on the market. Basically, all marshall mic's are junk. SM57's are great for a snare, but CRAP for toms. They don't produce nearly enough low end. And beta 52's are a good choice for kick drum, but they aren't as good as an Audix D6 which is about the same price.Another reviewer said "These mic's suck on a kick drum!" Well, I assume this reviewer is talking about the F12 being used as a kick mic. BAD idea. The f12 is fantastic for low toms but total CRAP for a kick drum. I don't know why audix advertises the f12 as a good kick drum mic, because it's not. Great for low tom though.I use these mics in a semi-pro recording studio and I can tell you that all around they are fantastic. The F15's aren't my top choice for overheads but still are great for hi-hats and other cymbals. That's my only complaint.

Audix F15 for Amps

By dwalda

from Upstate NY

Ask me a question

I used these primarily for drums until one day just cause I was lazy, and couldn't find a 57, I threw one next to a small Squire 10 watt amp and I was blown away by the way it received the sound.Much easier to use than the sm57. Just put it almost anywhere and it's great. It sounded exactly (almost) as what was coming out. Now I use it all the time on all my amps., Hot Rod Delux. Fender Excellsior, Orange Micro with a JBL 12 " cab. They all sound fantastic. I see the price is going up, so grab 'em now.

Overall Breakdown

By SoundMan 73

from The Rolling Hills of Tennessee

F-15 (Condensors) Rating 10 out of 10! Excellent tone for overhead cymbals or close to the hi-hat. I also use them to mic acoustics, banjo's, and fiddles. I've even used them to mic the local theater's stage performances. Really incredible mics.F-10 (Snare, Toms) 8 out of 10. Have a deep low tone w/ little EQing needed. Great for bass cab as well.F-12 (Bass/Kick) 3 out of 10. Totally useless for micing the kick! However, it makes a floor tom GROWL! I used a Sennheiser e602 a month ago nd it blew away this F-12. Get a Audix D6, Sennheiser e602, or a Shure 52 and you're set. Overall these are a great value...just add a kick mic and you're set!!!

Good mics for the money!

By videoman61

from Lake Tahoe NV

I've been using these mics in live situations for over a year and they are very good for the money. They don't match to the more-expensive D-series, but you get what you pay for. The kick mic is about useless for kick and is best used for floor tom. The overheads and tom mics sound very nice and clean and work great though.I have used them in for recording as well and the work great for that too.

Looking to start your mic collection? Stop looking

By Steve-HWIUp

from New York

Looking for a great sounding and quality mic set that wont break the bank? Look no further. Unfortunitly, there are no clips or cables, but thats no biggie. The f1o tom/snare mics sound good and are very small. Not as small as my f-90's, but small none the less. The f12 "kick" mic deffenitly isnt a d-6, but its better than most in its price range. However, if your looking for really low tone, get something like the f-14 or d-6, or the pg52 or beta 52, or even the 112. The f12 is ok, but not amazing. What is amazing are the f15 overheads. they are very clear and crisp, and they have a built in clip.

Best MIc at this price Range

By Jose-Cb0Qd

from Chicago, IL

This mics are simply the best. They work really good with any nice tuned drums. The F12's sound better on the floor Tom than the brass drum, I don't know why it is advertized as a brass drum mic too. Other than that the mics are GREAT!!!!

The worst-sounding kick mic I have ever heard. tom mics distort and sound punchy. overheads are lacking also. BUT THEY'RE CHEAP

I'm using them on my drum set to mic my second CD and they work really well. I am so pleased at not only the quality, but also the price!! This was a really great and necessary investment!!

If you are going to spend this much, you might as well spend a bit more and get 3 SM57's a Beta 52 and 2 MXL 990's. You'll get 10x's better sound. Not a bad set for the price, but there's a lot better out there for not much more.
