OVERVIEW

A complete, easy-transport, easy set-up system.

The B-52 Matrix-1000 V2 Speaker System comes with 2 10" 2-way powered satellites and a dedicated powered 15" subwoofer. The Matrix-1000 V2 has a built-in 3-channel 700W power amplifier, 3 independent volume controls, electronic crossover with equalization, and VCA compressor.

The circuitry is designed and fine-tuned to integrate all components for the best possible sound. There is no need to tweak or finesse settings on a crossover or compressor to make your system sound great. Simply roll the system into place on its heavy duty casters, plug in the AC, connect the two speaker cables, run two XLR cables to your mixer and you're ready to go

Built-in 3-channel amplifier
The 15" subwoofer enclosure is divided into two separate compartments. The front chamber serves as the cabinet for the 15" subwoofer. The rear chamber houses all of the system's electronic circuitry, which includes the amplification for all three components, power supply and preamps. The 15" subwoofer has a power handling capability of 400 watts and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms.

10" satellite speakers

The B-52 Matrix-1000 V2 satellites are loaded with a custom designed 10" speaker and 1" titanium diaphragm compression driver. The "horn" is a 90 x 60 elliptical waveguide that can be rotated 90 to optimize the dispersion pattern to best suit your particular application. These versatile B-52 speakers are pole-mountable and can sit as stage monitors. They also include 3/8"”16 tpi flying hardware for small venue permanent installations. The rounded front of the satellite speaker is a perfect fit for the convex face of the subwoofer, allowing you to stack, roll and transport the entire Matrix-1000 V2 in and out of a venue in record time.

Transporting the system

To transport the B-52 Matrix-1000 V2, simply set the subwoofer on its casters and place the satellite speakers on to the subwoofer's front panel, facing down. Fasten the satellites with the included locking strap using the handles on either side of the subwoofer cabinet. Place the included cover over the entire PA speaker system and you're ready to move the Matrix-1000 V2 with ease.

I bought this sometime around 2006 as I bought an electronic drumset (Roland TD20) and our band was going to start gigging. I ran my drums through this with the sub next to me and the speakers above and behind me. Loud and clear. Never had any issues with whatsoever. I never had to run through the mains.

This system is solid and road worthy. Mine look like they have been used for 7 years, but they still sound brand new. Seriously, I treated them like they were equipment, not delicate electronics. This thing will take the abuse.

I even used these to DJ a school dance and it pushed enough sound to fill the entire gym.

The ONLY negative I have to offer is the strap that holds the speakers to the sub for transport had weak plasic connectors that broke almost immediately.

Use this for FIXED applications ONLY. Rolling the sub around on it's supplied wheels has rendered the sub worthless 2 times now. No abuse whats so ever. That's what was so shocking about the whole ordeal. One side of the channels just stopped after moving around. Cost of repairs for this can add up to the price of a new set.. Just be aware.

    Comments about B-52 Matrix-1000 V2 700W Active 3-Piece Speaker System:

I first bought this system about 8 months ago, and set it up in my project studio to monitor drums. I also have 2 B-52 LX1515 club PA speakers which I use for the house. When I decided to use the Matrix 1000 as my primary mobile DJ PA system, I was a little unhappy with the muddy sound from the 10" speakers. However, adding a BBE sonic maximizer took this system right to the top for me. I now use this system for all my DJ and drum monitor gigs, and the LX-1515's are strictly for reinforcement in larger venues. The review about the controls breaking is true. It would be better to transport the entire system on a hand truck to ensure that the controls do not get bumped. But, having it on casters is great when moving it around the area where it will be used.I've been complimented so much on the sound quality by customers, I'm thinking of selling my LX-1515's and getting a second Matrix 1000 so I can really canvas larger stages/venues.

    Comments about B-52 Matrix-1000 V2 700W Active 3-Piece Speaker System:

I bought this two days ago, plugged it in to my computer and began pumping my Kansas collection through it. I am astounded at the sound quality and the low speaker hiss even at high volumes. I might even be able to use it as my main system for small outdoor venues.B52 was thinking about the user when they made this product. It took 10 minutes to set the system up (including plugging in speakers and finding outlets in my house), and the transportability is easy even though this beast weighs ~150 lbs. The only thing I dont like is having the control panel on the bottom, if you drop it on an edge or something, you'll definately break the knobs off. The whole panel seems to be pretty durable though, and I like the case. Way to go B52!!!

    Comments about B-52 Matrix-1000 V2 700W Active 3-Piece Speaker System:

This is an awesome system. Got mine just this Saturday with stands and cables everyhting all for $500. Only used 3 times. Since I'm by myself I can't trasnport it as one unit; I have to place the small speakers inside the truck then lift the woofer up onto the bed of the truck and vice versa to unload. I agree with the other person who said that the controls are at the bottom of the unit can easily be damaged if going up on stairs or uneven pavement. Overall, I always wanted one and finally got one but for way less.

    Good System, Some Design Flaws

    By Huckster

    from San Francisco

    Comments about B-52 Matrix-1000 V2 700W Active 3-Piece Speaker System:

I think this is a great system for the money. It sounds good and has some power. The downside to this unit is the fact that the controls face the floor. I consider this to be an obvious design flaw. You have to be very careful moving it around! It's very incredibly easy to smash the controls if you're lifting over stairs or if the floor you are rolling the unit on is uneven. Also, it's a very heavy unit, so you need two people to lift it. Otherwise, no problems :)

    Comments about B-52 Matrix-1000 V2 700W Active 3-Piece Speaker System:

The Matrix 1000 is a very good investment for anyone who is looking to expand.I just got them, and off the bat they were great. The bass from the subwoofer is clean. The mids and highs are perfect. I have used it in a group of 300 in a hall, and it travels. Only draw back for me, is that u cannot daisy chain the satelite speakers, and the fact that they use speakon connectors. I thought they used xlr's right thru. Good thing is that you can actually add a couple more powered units, with XLR connectors, so u can really have 5spkrs.

    Comments about B-52 Matrix-1000 V2 700W Active 3-Piece Speaker System:

I use this system for live drumming performances where I am miking 3-6 hand drums and running a bass direct into my board. It has an awesome clean, natural sound. I also play recorded music through it and am totally impressed with the quality of the sound. My only negative comment is that the fan noise is loud and can be annoying when playing at very low volumes.

I am not sure if they even make this amp any more but I have owed one for well over 10 years. This PA is still working perfectly as the day I bought it. OK, now that that's out of the way. I have used this system for live performances in a number of church's out side gigs and have never had any power issues with it not being loud enough or distorted. Would I ever buy another one? Comments about B-52 Matrix-1000 V2 700W Active 3-Piece Speaker System:

I have owned this unit for several months and I use it as a rental unit.It is durable and sounds great. Very easy set up and tear down. It is a little heavy though. Even the 10" satelite speakers are bit on the heavy side. It has built in caster so its easy to get in and out of a venue but don't use flimsy speaker stands with it. Everybody that has rented it raves about the sound quality out of the 10" satelite speakers. It has even been used as a monitor system for bands and worked like a champ.Use a BBE Sonic Maximizer (we use the 882i model) with it and it sounds even better. This set up works great in small to medium venues such as clubs and in-door weddings. Outdoors it good for a small area with about 250 people but anything larger than that and it will struggle a bit.B-52 makes excellent products and offer increadible value. I also have a Matrix-2000 and two sets of the LX Series passive Subs and LX1515 towers also excellent performers. You won't go wrong with a B-52 Pro Product.

I have this along with some JBL JRX100 12 inch speakers. The JBL speakers are a much better deal. I baught it about 2 weeks ago and I already have 2 take it back because the subwoofer wont work, I checked all of the wires on my mixer, everywhere even inside the cabnet and the only conclusion I can come to is that it is just a piece of crap and wont work. I'm going to guitar center 2morrow 2 trade it in for some JBL equipment and I suggest you do the same

      Comments about B-52 Matrix-1000 V2 700W Active 3-Piece Speaker System:

I was looking for a compact set of speakers to use at my smaller DJ/karaoke shows. I chose to purchase the Matrix-1000. I had a Club DJ gig on the day that I had purchased them and thought I'd set them up before the show to see how they sounded. After 10 minutes of EQing, I had the entire two level facility staff and house DJs standing around with their jaws on the floor. The sound was unlike anything I had ever achieved with my SP4s, SP2s, SP5s, JBLs, Eurolive 18s, 15s, 12s. This incredibly clear sound was so loud that I filled the upper level dance floor from my system on the lower level. I did use this setup for the entire show and don't plan to ever use anything else. I can't even imagine what a few more of these systems cascaded would do. I can't wait to find out.

      Perfect for the Mobile DJ

      By Mike D-FFW3F

      from Northern Indiana

      Comments about B-52 Matrix-1000 V2 700W Active 3-Piece Speaker System:

We purchased our Matrix system in December and have only had a few gigs since then, but we're already committed to this system after just one job. The wheels alone make it great, then you add in the incredible quality (sound level and clarity) that this product offers and you can't beat it. We played a small gymnasium school dance and it was plenty. We recently played a large gymnasium (8 full court basketball courts) for an AAU Threepoint Basketball contest and we had plenty of sound to spare. If your a mobile DJ I can't imagine purchasing anything different. The only draw back is the higher price tag to start out, but you get what you pay for.

      Comments about B-52 Matrix-1000 V2 700W Active 3-Piece Speaker System:

This system is by far the best value for the money. The sound is flawless, NO NOISE. The highs are crystal clear, and the bass REALLY thumps. Lets talk about value. Just try and buy two amps, one for the mains, and one for the sub. it would cost you over $900.00 for 700 watts, Then check out the price for speakers. LOL. I abuse my system 2 or 3 times a weekend with no problems. I did have a problem with a distorted right channel, but B52 repaired the problem in short order. The Matrix 1000 V2 is a fine system. I use a Newmark CM200 Mixing board and a Newmark CDN 25+G CD Player for DJ/KJ with Gemsound GMW 60 wireless mic's. Have fun shopping, but buy this system

      Comments about B-52 Matrix-1000 V2 700W Active 3-Piece Speaker System:

This product has been absolute heaven to use! I can't believe how clean the sound is from this unit and B-52 has done a great job of balancing the sound between the sub and the satellites. I have to say that both sound incredibly good and the crossover seems to be flawless. The only feature that I'd like to see is the ability to set the cross over frequency. The amp is simple and easy to use and the connections are solid. We play a full band through it, mic-ing amps and running direct sound through a Carvin mixer. It's great! The volume is loud and although they're only 10" full-ranges, they pack some punch and come with fly-mounting point for more permanent installs. YOU CANNOT BEAT THE QUALITY OF THIS WITH BIGGER NAME ITEMS. I've used the Mackie's, JBLs, Yamaha, etc... They're no better (or worse) BUT THE B-52 COST SO MUCH LESS!!! Don't waste your money, pick up this system!

I used this system once with a Behringer Eurorack UB1222FX-PRO mixer. It was a talent show with a singers singing to CDs, guitar/vocal solos, broadway musical keyboard playing, and a 4 piece rock band. I bought it primarily for use with the 4 piece rock band. We like the sound very much. The bass guitar was direct into the mixer and the band LOVED that. Generally the band loved the system. Takes two people to lift it into the back of the van, but its worth it. If it holds up we will get a lot of use with it.

OK this thing sounds good with a good mic I use a Behringer Eurorack ub802 and it's loud enough to sing through and has a good bassy tone when heard by itself, seems loud enough for a small GYM type size place but my problem is my fender HRD 212 amp is louder than this system and I was hoping to overcome this amp so If your looking for BIG PA loudness then this aint it but if you want portable bass speaker thump then it's OK for practise besides that this thing don't come with tripods or wires so more money for them...

      Comments about B-52 Matrix-1000 V2 700W Active 3-Piece Speaker System:

Our school owns this system for our cafateria and I had used it many times with my keyboards. After the first time I decided to save up and buy my own. I had been working with the cheapest Kustom PA package and that has slowly blown since I got it. When I used the matrix the first time I didn't know my keyboard sounded that good. The sound quality is great and a lot louder. When I crank up it don't have that worry in that back of my mind thinking I might be over powering the speakers and blowing it. The bass speaker is also beyond thumping. When I play my bass through you can feel it down my street. You can run my whole band (vocals, bass, guitar, and keyboard) through it and it still sounds awesome. For the price this is the best system for portability and quality.

Purchased the B-52 Matrix 1000V2 as a drum monitor system for my Roland TD6 module. The sound is incredible, very punchy, clean and quiet. There is plenty of power with this system. The portability is great. Packs up quickly, neatly, and the casters are exceptional. Rolls right over door frames without any problems. I have used it at several gigs along side of our JBL house PA. I was amazed that the B52 was as clean and as punchy as our JBL's. I highly reccomend this system as the ultimate digital drum monitor system. You will hear your kit as never before, and how Roland intended it to be heard. It is worth every penny, and then some.

A band mate and I each bought the Matrix 1000.We have played two gigs (one with the single Matrix and one gig using a matrix on each side).Sound quality is good and was more than enough to play small to medium sized clubs. This system has really good low end. For the money, this system is hard to beat. My band mate has a full JBL concert set up that we use for bigger/outdoor gigs but the Matrix will now be our standard indoor set-up.
