OVERVIEW

A drum miking system that looks great and delivers extreme isolation

The B-Band UKKO-S snare drum contact mic system is a remarkable way to capture the true tonality of your drum consistently, conveniently, and with extreme isolation. This system consists of two important components: the UKKO DMS preamp, built with high-quality class-A electronics, and the UKKO DST2 Contact mic for superb tone. This system will work with any size snare drum, and gives you high-resolution sound, and easy setup!

This mic system was designed to be able to blend-in visually with the drum kit. That is why B-Band designed the DMS preamp to be chrome colored to match most drum hardware. It is an extremely lightweight system that does not add any noticeable weight to the drum, or get in the way while performing like most other drum mic systems. It also very robust and durable, and will endure rigorous touring.

Setting up and tearing down have never been this easy. The DST2 has an adhesive back that mounts easily and discreetly on the inside of the drum shell near the batter head. The DST2 lead wire is fed through the drum air hole to the DMS preamp. The preamp comes with two different mounting options: mounting at the air hole outside of the drum, or a rim clamp mounting. The air hole mounting option was specially designed to not interrupt the flow of air as the drum breathes. Being as the DMS preamp is so small in size, there is no need to remove it to put the drum in its case, leave it on and be ready for the next gig or studio session.

Inside the DMS preamp there are two mini switches that contour the sound for a choice of tone. One switch controls a +3dB mid boost at 500 Hz and the other is for a -6dB high cut.

As good as an external snare mic

Comments about B-Band UKKO-S Single Snare Drum Contact Mic:

The Installation of the B-Band UKKO snare contact mic was pretty easy, just be sure where you want the external mic insert on the snare.I have a ludwig symphonic snare. The two mounting options are very good. The mic is very good, works just like an external mic, but here you won't have to "play" around it because it mounts just under the batter head. The mic won't fall off, and if you move the mic to another drum, there are two extra adhesives to apply to the mic. The mic captured more of what the drum sounds like when your sitting in front of your snare drum vs an external mic. Very good product, VERY GOOD FOR GIGS! Less stands and stuff to set up. Very Good for "isolation" since it won't leak other drums and cymbals. Very happy with it!

Comments about B-Band UKKO-S Single Snare Drum Contact Mic:

I have been using these for several years on several drum stes. Man, they sure make it easier to mic the drums in a live setting (clubs and bars, small- to mid-sized venues). They work just fine in those applications and no more dragging mics and stands which clutter the stage and get heavy. Plus- NO FEEDBACK OR BLEED!!! For recording- not really worth it, but then again you have time and space to set up better mics when you are recording. For larger venues and festivals, you usually have a sound man and their own sound gear. I usually tell the sound man about these and recommend that he use my internal mics and use external mics as well to blend them for a really great sound. Have always been happy with these and still using them!

Comments about B-Band UKKO-S Single Snare Drum Contact Mic:

Bought this on a Sunday evening, arrived on Thursday afternoon. fast shipping. Now my first qualm with this product is the instructions. They're awful, they give you some help on installation, but not much. PUT THE MIC WIRE INTO THE SLIT ON THE BOLT! THEN ASSEMBLE! the mic connector doesn't fit through the screw.

I was impressed with the isolation. I play with a really loud ride cymbal close to my snare, It does not bleed into the mic at all.

Sounds alright so far, has kind of gainey sound. I believe thats the "natural sound" everybody was talkin about. My buddy says after mixing and what not w/ protools we should be able to get a fatter sound of out it.

It does work, and i believe ive gotten what i paid for. alright product so far.
