BBE

Desktop BBE for guitarists, bassists and keyboard players.

The BBE 282i Sonic Maximizer is a two channel signal processor that will benefit any recording or sound reproduction system. Whether you purchased the Sonic Maximizer for your home studio, P.A., DJ system, or instrument rack, you will find the Sonic Maximizer’s rugged construction and careful electronic design a welcome addition to your sonic arsenal.

The 282iR featuresfeatures unbalanced ¼” phone connectors making it ideal for interfacing with guitar, bass or keyboards.

The 282’s smaller chassis makes it ideal for DJ systems, DAW-based recording environments and space challenged live systems, as well as desktop applications, where space is at a premium and there’ s no 19 rack space available. However, the 282 series delivers exactly the same performance as BBE’s world renowned rack-mounted Sonic Maximizer products.

BBE High Definition Sound compensates for phase and amplitude distortion, restoring the brilliance and clarity of the original content material. The BBE High Definition Sound process begins by applying a linear phase shift across the full frequency range of the signal, which allows the speaker system to reproduce the transients and harmonics in the correct order. The BBE process then compensates for speaker amplitude distortion by progressively boosting lower and higher frequencies, and doing so within the context of the phase correction process. This efficiently creates a fuller, richer sound without excess equalization.

Comments about BBE 282iQ Desktop Sonic Maximizer with Unbalanced 1\\4" Connections:

I picked up one of these to help brighten up my vocals and V-Drums, which it does really well. The problem is that it only works well for stereo (or mono) 1/4in connections in a studio setup -- it's small but not very portable. After using it for 30 minutes, I immediately wanted the stomp box version for guitar and bass (and vocals), and an RCA version for my living room.

This is a great addition if you want a good sound on a tight budget.

Comments about BBE 282iQ Desktop Sonic Maximizer with Unbalanced 1\\4" Connections:

I bought 2 of these to run from my Juno Gi and SH-201 and they work great; makes the sound more alive. Works great for boosting the sound levels out of my synthesizers and seems to add polyphony to already great machines.

Comments about BBE 282iQ Desktop Sonic Maximizer with Unbalanced 1\\4" Connections:

Purchased for use on bass guitar rig. Had a great sound already but adding the BBE 282i brought out a noticeable clarity in the mids that makes notes stand out in the mix. Plus the bottom end (5 string bass) is now very solid and strong without any boominess. After hearing the difference I don't want to play without it!

Comments about BBE 282iQ Desktop Sonic Maximizer with Unbalanced 1\\4" Connections:

I've used 282IQ for a few applications and so far haven't hit on any that really sell me. Admittedly it could be in the said applications - so far I've tried Yamaha S90XS, Korg X50, and media play through to Roland KC 350 and JBL monitor/PA. Possibly because all my speaker use so far is powered?

I've still more homework to do with the device and will re-review if I hit on success.

Package is neat, all inclusive and arrived quickly, but I didn't get any magic from it when used with keys or recorded tracks.

Comments about BBE 282iQ Desktop Sonic Maximizer with Unbalanced 1\\4" Connections:

If you are reading this, you know what they do. I had one high end full rack space BBE just for my Live stereo main speaker system then decided I wanted to have the same sonic quality for my monitors but was one rack space short. I bought two of these. One for stereo mains and one for 2 channel monitor mix. There is a little quality loss in comparison to any of the full rack versions but not near enough for most to tell. A real good solution to conserve rack space and cover both mains and monitor mixes on a budget. Plug in, Turn on, Set knobs to 12 o'clock, Engage BBE, and forget it.

Comments about BBE 282iQ Desktop Sonic Maximizer with Unbalanced 1\\4" Connections:

I never used a sonic maximize before so I really didn't know what to expect. It really does open up the sound! It is like using mastering software on your home recording! This would be great for a DJ or for one's home theater. (I tried it with a guitar but I could tell no difference between switching the unit on and off).
Once you have it on for your stereo you won't want to shut it off!

Great for pre-recorded music...not so much for live guitar sound.

This is a nice , small enhancer that adds measurable improvement to the sound . The only thing I would change would be to add a balanced feature to the jacks , which are unbalanced 1/4 " format . This is a good unit at a reasonable price .
