I seldom write reviews but I felt I needed to for this unit. I bought this as a solution because I am a DJ who does outdoor ceremonies.... and recently a lot of them have been on the beach. The equipment I was taking out was very heavy (I used a self powered speaker & a big battery pack) and trust me, in the Florida sun it is brutal to drag all the gear out onto the sand! This little unit is GREAT! It weighs very little, has a quick setup time, and the optional ULM mic they sell makes it even better. Now I grab a small bag in one hand, a speaker & tripod stand in the other and I am ready to go in minutes. Can I say anything negative? Yes - honestly it is a little under powered. 40 watts is fine for most small to medium jobs.... but the bigger jobs can pose a challenge. Mattering the type of music you play for the ceremony you might have to turn down the bass a tad because the limiter LOVES to protect this speaker. By doing that you can get a little more output overall. One other thing I have to mention - I can't say enough about the battery..... it just goes and goes and goes! I have run this for hours and never run out of juice. Before I bought this I read another review that said "I didn't even know I needed this until I bought it".... and I have to agree. I have now used it for ceremonies, as a dj booth monitor, cocktail hour sound, live sound monitor, outside in the yard when waxing the car, etc, etc, etc. This is one very handy little speaker.

I bought this to use as a mobile PA for quick bar jobs, and also for use at outdoor weddings. I did my research and it came down to this or one of the Roland Street Cubes. I knew that this didn't have all the features the Rolands do, but it looked louder, was pole mountable, and had enough channels. That's true, but man, would it kill Behringer to put a reverb on here? The dry sound is fine, but it's pretty Sahara dry.

Also, and I think this is the biggest problem with this speaker, the other channels duck out if you over drive one channel - even though the amp has plenty of headroom left. In other words - even if the speaker can get way louder, if you're at a low volume and you have a guitar player playing too heavy, he'll 'push' the other channels out of the way and be the only thing coming through the speaker. So, this is great as a single source powered speaker, but if you want to use it for anything else you're going to need an outboard mixer - the one on this unit is just unusable.

The battery does seems to last a good amount of time, and it does get pretty loud without breaking up - and the 8" woofer does a better job handling bass than I would have thought. But, you're going to need an extra mixer to get any use out of this - and you know how hard it is finding a battery powered mixer with onboard fx? Not a thing, so now you're carrying around two extra pieces of gear. If you need this for one thing, like microphones for presentations, or putting on the back of a bike to pump mp3s through - it's basically perfect. If you're trying to use this for music/performances, save the hassle and go get a Roland Street Cube XE - that's the thing that's made for doing what you want to be doing.

Comments about Behringer Europort MPA40BT Portable PA System:

I bought two of of these to go along with my Roland CUBE Street EX in order to have a completely battery operated sound system.

I'm with a ministry group called the Kingdom Warriors and we do an outdoor outreach every Monday evening to the homeless in Cincinnati, OH. The location where we serve is on a busy street, under an extremely busy overpass, next to a constantly busy train track. The reason for the description where we serve is you can imagine how loud the ambient noise is there.

These two speakers plugged into my Roland makes a perfect sound system for what we do. I speak every week to approximately 150-200 people, play music from my phone and even play my guitar and sing, all in a really loud and noisy environment. I am AMAZED and totally satisfied with the volume and the quality of sound these speakers produce.

If you have any need at all for a sound system where there is no electricity available, you can't go wrong with a Roland CUBE Street EX and two of these Behringer Europort MPA40BT Portable PA System speakers.

Comments about Behringer Europort MPA40BT Portable PA System:

Battery Powered Amps are a necessity for busking. This thing sounds so much more like a mini PA compared to the Roland Street Cubes and Crate Taxi's and Limo's. No crazy WallWart either! Used regular IEC cable. Green, yellow and red LED's let you know how full your battery "gas tank" is. I can easily do a 4 hour gig and have plenty of juice left over. I needed something LOUD and CLEAR for my voice, acoustic guitar and Beatbuddy Drum Machine and the Europort has all the features I needed!

WOW, LOUD AND CLEAR, I tested several battery powered speaker to add to my system and BAM, this one won HANDS down. It played for 30 minutes before ceremony, 30 during the ceremony and I set it up out side for my clients cocktail hour and forgot to turn it off yet, 4 hours later, I went to turn it off and it STILL had 75% power left in it. Behringer...you rock. The only thing is I wish had a output to daisy chain more. I feel it would handle UP TO 250 head count and I also purchase a battery powered wireless mic (another store) and it sound AWESOME.

Comments about Behringer Europort MPA40BT Portable PA System:

This is a viable option for a busker or someone who needs a portable PA. The downside is the lack of reverb or any effects. The sound is also a little boomy because the tweeter isn't a very effective balance to the woofer, which is a step up over othe portable amps that use 4-6" speakers.
