Overall I think this is a wise choice if you are looking for a mixer with decent effects that give you a lot to choose from, including multiple effects. The 1200 watts of power is Peak power as another reviewer has stated so it's not as powerful as you might think. For our band it gave plenty of power in the small club we were playing in We are a three piece band with a live drummer, guitarist and keyboard/bass player. we miked the kick drum and we were powering 2 JBL JRX 115 mains and 2 Yamaha BR 12 monitors and the sound was great! I'm sure that it could do a medium sized club of about 200 maybe 250 people without any real problems. Anything more than that you might want to use an external power amp for your mains and use this amp for monitors only or perhaps a montior/main mix and use the external amp for your subs. Anyway you slice it if you a solo entertainer, a duo or a small band, you'll have enough inputs to get the job done. Get one while they are hot! If you are still unsure, read the other reviews. Heck even look at the reviews on a couple of other websites, (if they have these) and you'll see they reviewed well but are more expensive there. l think you've come to the right place. Hope this helps..
The Features on the Europower 1280S Powered mixer are many, to say the least. In most cases when you get up to the 1200 watt level, you'll see mixers that have a graphic EQ for the Main and the Monitors so that's nothing new. When it comes to effects in a "blockhead" type mixer, rarely do you see 2 effects that you can use simultaneously! This to me is a great feature. For example, when our band was playing Nirvana's Come As You Are, I set a chorus effect on the mixer for effect #2 and turned it up on my bass channel. It was awesome! very close to the album. Another feature I like is that ability to take Effect 1 or 2 out as a send and bring it back to the Return to main jacks on the front. If I wanted to put a little compression on a few vocals and still have effects, I'm able to do that. Very handy to say the least. I do wish that there were more than just Speakon outputs in the back. There are only 2 of them so if you have 1/4 inch inputs like I do on my monitors, then I have to use an adaptor for that. Also since there are only 2 jacks, you have to jump for one speaker to the other, which is kind of a pain, especially if you use both mains and monitors in your setup. I recommend getting 50 ft cables to solve this problem. they can cover most small to medium sized stages, if you have to go from one main to the other for example.
I have been "warned" about buying Behringer stuff before. Frankly I think a critic is a critic and a user is a user. I am quite impressed with the quality of this mixer. I mean $270 for a refurb 1200 watt mixer is great! With Behringer Powered mixers, you just have to crank them up but you still definately get the power that you need in most cases. This mixer seems to be made well. It's lightweight but still heavy enough to tell you that it's durable. I like the tight feel of the knobs too. I personally recommend the two or three year MF warranty. It gave me peace of mind to know that I have an extra year coverage in case anything should happen to the amp.It only cost $30. Musicians friend is great about taking care of everything to make sure that you're happy with your purchase. They even sent me an E Mail to give a review about the 2 yr warranty I bought. I haven't needed it yet though. As I mentioned before there are Critics and users. I am a user. I gave this mixer a try and I like it! let me say this though. Only use the Speaker Processing feature if you are running the amp Main L and Main R (stereo) otherwise it's useless and it made one side of my amp go out! I thought I'd have to return it after the 2nd time it went out, until my guitarist said to take the speaker processing off. No problems since. I bought this mixer to use as an amp for my bass and keyboard rig but we decided to use it at a gig last weekend and it performed flawlessly!!
This is a great value for the band or entertainer strapped for cash or for having a good backup amp. At this price, $270, there wont be too many left so grab one now while they still have them. Mine arrived in perfect shape and felt brand new, as I said the knobs felt nice & tight and there wasn't a scratch on it. Well worth the money and again if you are a little worried about Behringer or have heard they are "disposable" amps, then get the two or three YR warranty. It's relatively low cost and you'll have your amp for a longer time. MF will take care of you. they certainly have helped me in the past.

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1280S Powered Mixer:
This powered mixer is amazing. It was highly recommended by a trusted professional musician. I have heard mixed reviews on Behringer but with his recommendation I bought it. I cannot believe how clean this thing sounds. I have been playing through an older peavey for a long time. I love Peavey but could not see putting out almost 700 bucks for a comparable powered mixer. So far it has worked without a hitch. Bought the 3 year warranty so I figure if I get 3 years out of a [$] investment I can't go wrong. I cannot see a need for more unless you are playing a gig for over 200 people. Ten channels with stereo capability, dual effects, equalizer, plenty of power, super price. Don't know what else to say.

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1280S Powered Mixer:
I own the predecessor to this unit, with 8 channels. I accidently sheared off the EQ sliders. It still worked fine, but we needed more inputs. Wow, was I amazed at the difference in sound quality. A ton of headroom gave the vocals a strong presence without the slightest hint of overload. I love that the selected effects stay where I put them when the unit is turned off and back on. I had to reset the older one each time. The effects are very useable in live performances, from mild to wild. With 2 separate effects, I can change the ratios of blended effects. Very practical.
Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1280S Powered Mixer:
We use this mixer/amp to run acoustic guitar, bass and mandolin (all with pickups) and 3 mics, and output to two speakers and a single monitor. The mixer is very flexible for our setup, and has all the signal processing we need (mostly reverb). The sound is very clean and works very well for this acoustic setup. The mixer is very light, which is nice, and has plenty of power for our smaller venues. Our older speakers and cables were all 1/4", so I had to buy two adapters for the Speakon connectors on the amp, but they worked fine.
Overall a great purchase. Time will tell on the durability, but I don't expect any problems.
Has all the features we need to do sound reinforcement for a small 3 piece "acoustic" group. Very flexible.
So far, so good. Very light weight for the power, which is nice when hauling this around.
A fantastic value.

Because it put me against the wall in a last minute situation.
Features are great if I got a chance to use them.
Just bought it. Carried to a gig and couldn't even use it. Turned it on, did a mike test and kept kicking out like the overload protection was shutting it down. Luckily carried a backup Behringer PMP 2000 which I would highly recommend. Hooked the speakers to it and it ran like a champ. Don't know if this was a fluke but I am not taking any more chances. Also the CD/AuX inputs would not work. Sending it back and getting the PMP 2000. It is a workhorse.
Because it wouldn't work.

I bought mine and the frist one lasted 1 hour and it fried. Good news is that M.F.has an outstanding return policy so they sent me a new one at no cost to me! Since then I've used it for rehersal for about 1 year now. It has more than enough power to do the job. It sounds clean and has worked flawlessly. Talk about easy setup! Yeah. For a few of my smaller gigs I've used this thing with great results. My only complaint about this unit is that I seriously need more EQ sliders. It's pretty limited here but I guess for the money I can't complain too loudly. For a poor working musician.........this thing will does a really nice job. I'm satisfied.
