OVERVIEW

1600W 10-Channel powered mixer with dual multi-FX processor and FBQ Feedback Detection System.

The Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S Powered Mixer (2 x 800W stereo, 1600W bridged mode) produces even more power than its predecessors while maintaining famously low weight and high efficiency. The EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixer employs Class-D technology including a switch-mode power supply, significantly reducing weight and heat. The 10-Channel Behringer PMP1680S boasts 8 high-quality built-in mic preamps, 24-bit FX processors, and FBQ Feedback Detection.

What is Class-D Technology?
Instead of operating relatively continuously like Class AB circuits, Class-D amps switch on and off thousands of times per second, delivering power only when needed. In other words, the amplifier is either fully on or fully off, which significantly reduces power losses from the output devices given off as heat. Less heat means the amps don't need massive heat sinks, and that makes them lighter. This no-compromise design means the EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixer will deliver full power with incredible fidelity all night long, without the need for lengthy rest cycles.

When used in conjunction with switching-mode power supplies, which don't require huge and heavy transformers, Behringer's Class-D amplifiers provide tremendous dynamic punch and superior fidelity. The resulting speaker systems are much lighter, making them easy to transport and set up.

Massive Mono or Stunning Stereo
EUROPOWER PMP1680S gives you the choice of 2 x 800-Watt stereo, 2 x 800-Watt dual mono mode (giving you a mono version of the main signal through one powered output plus a mono version of all monitor send signals through the second powered input) or 1,600-Watt bridged mono sound. Whether the center of attention happens to be a folk trio, a speech, or a synth-rock band with mind-boggling stereo patches, the EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixers can accommodate. This sonic versatility also makes it an excellent choice for churches, where vocals and stereo recordings often share face time.

Classic Control, State-of-the-Art Sound
Leave the mic preamps at home, because the quality of sound that was once only available in the studio is ready to go wherever you do. Built-in, boutique-caliber mic preamps with switchable +48 V phantom power make it possible to use either dynamic or condenser mics with the EUROPOWER PMP1680S. It gives you 8 mic inputs.

Built-in Digital Effects Processor
The EUROPOWER PMP1680S comes equipped with a 24-bit FX processor, giving you 100 mind-blowing digital effect presets such as delay, chorus, and reverb. Apply them to any channel, as well as to the monitors and main output. In case you're pulling double duty as sound engineer and performer, the FX processor features a footswitch jack for remote on/off. Of course, if you have treasured outboard gear you've grown attached to, the EUROPOWER PMP1680S can integrate them into the mix while leaving out the built-in FX processor.

Changing the Channels
The EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixer has excellent flexibility to accommodate whatever a performance requires. You get 8 channels for mics, guitars, and other mono instruments. Stereo channels 7-10 are designed to work in pairs as stereo channels, or independently for more mono instruments. All mono channels have 3-band EQ, switchable Low cut filter for eliminating infrasonics, and Clip LEDs to indicate when the input signal is too hot.

A STANDBY switch mutes all mic channels during breaks, preventing the microphones from picking up noise or interference. You can leave all faders untouched while you play a CD via the CD/TAPE inputs.

The FBQ Feedback Detection system automatically shows you which frequencies are causing feedback. Just touch the FBQ button and watch the red LEDs on the 7-band graphic EQ pinpoint show you which frequencies to adjust for optimized sound, without the feedback.

The Ins and Outs
Use the CD/TAPE IN RCA inputs to feed in external stereo signals from CD players or tape decks. The VOICE CANCELLER switch eliminates the vocals from pre-recorded music for instant karaoke applications.

CD/TAPE OUT RCA outputs send line-level signals from the mixer to a recording device. The left and right output 1/4" connectors can be used for a variety of purposes, including connecting more power amps. Connect monitor power amps or active monitor speakers to the MON SOUND output. Powered outputs on this mixer are available in professional Speakon-compatible format.

Small, Simple, Superb
Medium-sized events call for a lightweight, easy-to-use powered mixer. The EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixer is one of the most efficient, affordable mixers for the job, and is even suitable for use as a pure analog mixer or as a pure power amplifiers. So here I was in a Best Buy in Lincoln and I had done all the research (6 months worth) and I thought that I was ready for my big purchase. My heart was set on Yamaha? EMX powered mixer. I am in a 3 piece band that needs a new sound system for small venues?like our weekly coffee house gig and the like. Yes, most everything we do is acoustically driven (via my 814CE Taylor and a S90XS Yamaha? and of course our drummer, who?s freakishly awesome) We have a playlist of over 160 songs so we play everything from Fogelberg, Billy Joel, James Taylor to well? anything from the 60?s-80?s? you know? when music was MUSIC? So? the need for a decent PA is vital.Back to the buy? As I saw the EMX Yamahas and even the Yamaha Stagepass?I took a good look at them in person? the guy running the joint (Brian) said? have you ever considered Behringer? I told him all I had heard was what an educator buddy of mine had said (he?s an old retired music wanna-be dude) and he talked Behringer down. So then, the next thing I knew is I was looking seriously at this little unit. Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel? I told the guy that I had to go, but I?d do some internet research that night on this bad boy and get back to him? I think he thought that he?s never see me again?Seriously, the PMP1680S offers 800 watts a side? for both mains and monitors? there are so many extra features that the Yamahas don?t offer? from panning on every channel, a designated I/O for ipod and recording, 100 special effects? that have two separate input volumes for each channel as well as for monitors and mains. There?s so much more bang for the buck? and that leads me to the final THE COST IS HALF OF WHAT YOU?D PAY FOR ANY OTHER PA in the same category. Trust me? and oh yea, the class D technology allows the unit to run so quietly? no annoying fan noises that you eventually get with the old powered mixers. So, here?s what I did? I saved money and purchased the PMP 1680S? and I bought two JBL JRX112?s for monitors and two JBL JRX115?s for mains. Trust me I even had extra money for a couple new Shure Beta mics. I did get a 4 year warranty deal on the Behringer PA, so if anything is to go wrong with it? I can get it replaced with a brand new one? without any hassle. The Dude threw in mic cables, speakon cables, two speaker stands?and knocked the Behringer price from $399 to $350. Oh yea, the Shure Betas were free... too. TRUST ME? BEHRINGER IS THE REAL DEAL? give em a try? Behringer can?t be that bad? last year (2009) they celebrated their 20th year in existence and consequently, they sold 2,500,000 products. Oh yea, the PMP 1680S kick?s? I would have gone through Musician?s Friend? but I needed the gear that weekend. Sorry Musician?s Friend? but I?ve purchased a ton of stuff through you guys? you guys ROCK!!!? I?ll be back! You've got to try it to believe it...

Bought this unit a little over 2 years ago. Had a decent sound, was a lighter weight than other brands and looked nice with all the lights on it. However, being a professional musician who makes a full-time living at performing, Behringer just couldn't take the constant use and eventually died after only 2 years from purchase. Trying to get it repaired was a nightmare and I came to find out that is was not worth the time or money to fix since most repair technicians consider it to be a sub-standard product and not worth the money needed to repair it after the warranty has expired.
If you are a professional in the music business you are better off spending the extra money to buy units made by companies such as Yamaha or Mackie. I've had my Yamaha EMX 640 Powered Mixer since 1999 and it's still going strong. I actually bought the Behringer PMP1680 to replace the Yamaha but it turned out that the Yamaha had to replace the Behringer. Bottom line, it's not a good product that you can count on.

Great Mixer, better than I thought!

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

I have owned this PA head for a little while now, and the quality was great when it arrived and is still nice as I have used it. I am actually kind of shocked at the quality of these mixer, as I always thought Behringer wasn't the best choice for gear. However after purchasing a set of PA speakers and this powered mixer, I have to say I am pretty impressed! This powered mixer can handle anything I throw at it, be it in the studio or at the open mic I host, and occasional gigs. I originally purchased one of the top brand mixers, and sent it back and bought this mixer. Very happy I did as it is a great mixer for the money!
Great quality powered mixer, a lot better quality than I thought!

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

I don't play out as much as I used to, I'm down to 4 to 6 times a month & I appreciate the light weight with big power & quality sound.
The clean sound is really good, loads of power & being able to use 2 effects on the same channel is a really big plus. I cannot believe this kind of quality for the price. I'm switching to Behringer .
Seems to be well made, I'm going to purchase 2 more, one for a spare & the other for practice.
It does not get better than this at twice the price. The Behringer PMP1680 is really quality at its best.

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

I own the EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer..... Out of the box, the mixer blew us away.... Very powerful. Problem is that when my rock/metal band gets cooking, it distorts. I've had to treat this thing with kid gloves to not have it break up while I sing. I would recommend this to bands that do classic rock, country, or even acoustic acts...LOVE the light weight, but if you have a big voice, carry your ass back to Peavey....still the toughest equipment in the industry...
The effects on this unit are very nice... Much better than most powered mixers.

Ka Thump Hmmmmm

By Box Head 57

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

Well, this 1680s has impressed me quite a lot. Small size, easy to use and best of all,it has a lot of K Thump behind it as well, I was quite stunned that this thing kicked hard. I also have a Behringer PMP4000 but, this little 1680s has a lot more drive behind it. Well worth the price. Finish, its ok. But the sound makes up for it big time. What can I say, Ka Thump.

Very Impressed

By LV Mobile Productions

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

I purchased this unit to expand my DJ business to do karaoke. I have several Behringer products that have never given me problems, but I have never purchased anything over $100 or so. During my time as sound guy, I have used Midas, Yamaha and Peavey to name a few. Let me just say that I was very impressed with this unit. For the money, it cannot be beat. I connected it to an old set of Behringer 400W 12?s that I haven?t used in a long time. They are something of a backup pair since I have been using the Club 15?s from Yamaha lately. The sound blew me away! The highs and mids were awesome and the effects did the job. Could not be more pleased. This thing is super light and will fit in a shallow rack with EQ?s and crossovers/compressors. Perfect for the mobile system. I?m thinking of getting another one as a back up; at this price, why not.

LUV THIS LIL BEAST...

By timothy paul

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

fff
First off, The power of this unit is amazing. This thing is lighter in weight & double the power of my old Yamaha mixer I purchased 6 years ago. That Class D technology is pretty dope. And, cost me if it were new.(bought mine used & saved even more loot) This little beast gives you an arsenal of good quality effects...you can even run two effects at the same time. Parametric Eq sliders that light up on both the mains & monitors sections, several LED's that warn you of clipping & feedback, etc etc.

My band is a 4 piece cover band. We play modern hard rock. We've use it for all our band practices since the begining of the year & have played about six mid sized rooms/gigs with it so far & this unit has power to spare. Easy to operate. A tweek here and there throughout the night. Not a single problem.

We use two Gemini 15"s(yes, they are on the cheap side, but sound good on our setup)as mains, two Yamaha 12"s for monitors & one 400 watt 18" Peavey powered sub. If you're playing modern hard rock like we do, get at least one powered sub to get that extra low end & feel of the kick drum in your mix. Hook the sub right up to the front main out section on the mixer & you've got BOOM. =)

I use this mixer with a four piece band and run vocals only through it. It's so compact and easy to use and I am amazed by the great sound we get from such a small unit. We've used it seven years about twice a month with no problems. I recently purchased another one to use with an acoustic group I'm in and I run vocals and the guitars though it. Very happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a inexpensive, compact and no nonsense mixer.

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

I have been using this amp/mixer for about 6 months now and I have to say that I am very pleased!

I have used this is may way, from recording, to running a band pa, to it's primary use, as my mains amp and mixer for my mobile dj service.

I run a microphone, mixer, and ipad when i dj. I have the mic on channel 1, ipad on channel 7/8, and mixer on channel 9/10. I run the mixer and ipad on the monitor channel only. I then run a trs out of the monitor out into my processor in mono, then into a 3 way crossover. I then run the high and mid back into the mixer into channels 5 and 6 with pad turned on. I then run those channels and the microphone to the main out and then to the behringer 15 xl speakers via bridge mode.

I love this mixer/amp! It is so versatile and unique! Without question, buy it!

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

If you play a small job with low volume and you don't know what eq really does and you have never heard good digital effects then this would be a fine pa for you.
It has many features and could be a useful VERY small venue pa.
I found that almost everything in this head was mediocre.
The value depends on your needs and experience. It certainly is not very expensive but it just didn't sound that good.

I play alot of gigs. I need to be ready for anything. Thanks Behringer EUROPOWER 1680S,for saving me!! Now i can plug anything from a flute to eletric spoons,Im serious people. This new 1680s 10 ch. is my favorite NO FUSS gig saver. I use the 1680s, with 2 carvin 3way 1900 watt,at 8 ohms, put the l/r on,and PERFECT sound.I've yet to have to use the eq,It just sound great, TURN IT ON,and turn it up!!! My acoustic Gibison songwriter, is as smooth as can be. I dont even need the bass middle treble knobs, this 1680s just goes by itself..normally im a yamaha emx kinda guy.. but now you can throw me any plug and Behringer 1680s has got a spot for it.

So far so good. This box is the next level in easy P.A. Set ups. I wanted power to spare and this thing delivers. If you gig small clubs with 4 15" cabs or 2 cabs and 2 monitors then this is it. Great features for open mic set up as well. Mackie has got some stiff competition now. Power is the key to good sound and it delivers. What else can I say. Get one!

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

I am a professional musician and perform as an acoustic act. This little powered mixer does the job perfectly! Sound is crystal clear and the effects are very nice too! Having two separate effects processors and being able to blend the two effects together is great! Very nice mixer for the price!

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

Had this for over 6 months. This was a great upgrade for our band. I love all the features it offers and it is super light-weight! The matching speakers are also light-weight and the package is well worth the money. It doesn't pull as much power as our old head, yet gives more sound. Each channel is very clear, but even after EQ, the head is a bit noisy over the speakers (but not on direct line recording); however, once you start playing you don't really hear the hiss. I've been in the music biz for 30+ years and this head is one of the best deals ever - perfect for up to a 5-piece band that plays small to medium venues. We've had this at outdoor festivals as well as indoor gigs with horrid acoustics, and it performs wonderfully anywhere. I love the feature it has that allows you to run a line directly from the head to a recorder (we use the Tascam Portastudios). The karaoke feature isn't that great because it doesn't pull all the vocals out, but we aren't a karaoke sort of group anyway. The feedback feature is helpful but not as fantastic as I had expected. The onboard effects are excellent and have individual mix controls for each bank and each channel – this is a fantastic feature! The channel pad feature works super well as does the clip feature. Overall, this is an excellent head for the right purpose.

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

This amp I have owned for 3 years and has been pushed to its limit on a lot of shows, rocking blues band, alternative music band and general parties hooked up with mono. It has copped a fair beating and just kept working. Mind you at this rate of abuse it would at some stage stop working, but for now it's still doing it's thing. Excellent little amp.

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S 10-Channel Powered Mixer:

I use this mixer to run sound for a high school marching band. We mic the Marimba, Xylophone, Vibraphone, Piano, Timpani, Bells, auxiliary percussion rack, soloists, etc... All the features are amazing on this product and it is a great outdoor piece of equipment (weather permitting)

The fx processors are nice too! we run a chorus and phaser on the bells and windchimes, makes for a really cool and unique sound! I also just purchased one for personal use with 2 15" speakers. The school used 4x 12" speakers, and it pushed them and then some without any problems! The bass is heard loud and clear in the football stadium (with all 4 speakers laying as monitors in the front facing the crowd).

If you need a mixer and an amp that will both give you lots of functionality, great power and reliability, this is the product!

I can't wait to receive mine and start using it! I've been djing for 8 years, and this is the first piece of equipment that has literally blown me away!
