I took delivery of this board two weeks ago purchasing it new. I've been in a very active hard rock/metal band for the past four years playing many different venues. We were in need of a larger PA, and were tired of hiring the increasingly more expensive PA guys to support our gigs. I knew we needed at least a 12-channel board and a minimum 1000 watts to handle some of the larger rooms we were playing in. After a bit of research I decided to give this product a try. I was skeptical at first because the boards low price point, and the fact that I had never owned any Behringer products before. After two rehearsals and one live show I now can say with confidence that the board is definitely NOT underpowered. I run the board in standard stereo mode (600 watts per side) driving two 4 ohm JBL 3-way 15" mains, use a 500 watt Mackie 6 channel mixer to drive 3 monitors, mic the entire band (6 drum mics, two guitar mics, 3 vocal mics, and bass guitar) and the results were astonishingly good. The power I believe was more then adequate, and I wasn't even pushing the levels. The sound was punchy and very clear with no feedback and great headroom available if needed. Keep in mind that I was not even using the mixer in its most powerful configuration in where you can attain a true 1200 watts by bridging the mains in mono. I honestly think that the others that reported low power were probably using the mixer incorrectly, or not as efficiently as possible. From a functional standpoint this board is excellent as it allows you to use it in many different configurations, many of which could be very seamless. Oh, and did I mention how superb the effects sound? They sound awesome. If you get this board take the time to READ THE MANUAL closely and learn how to use the product correctly to fully realize its strengths. From a value standpoint this board just cannot be beat. If you were to buy all of the components separately that this board includes (mixer, amp, effects processor) you would spend nearly $1800 and then have to deal with connectivity hassles.Hands down it is the best investment our band has made in four years. I truly believe that Behringer's competitors are going to have to take a hard look at this product and devise something similar in order to retain market share.

I was recently asked to run sound for a blues cover band at a small festival, using their sound system, which included this board and 2 12" behringer speakers. I only controlled the levels and was not involved in setting it up. I was able to get a decent sound out of it, but it was an uphill fight. THe low end from the kick and a DI from the bass amp were both difficult to EQ. Very hard to find the sweet spots on the mixer for it. Also, the fader response seemed uneven. Slight changes on the board did not produce slight changes in the levels. Subtly is lost on this board. To get something louder in the mix, I had to push things around considerably. That being said, it's a fair price for a board that won't be used at a "serious" gig or by professional-aspiring engineers or bands. You have to pay more money if you really want a good board. Behringer will never be Yamaha, Allen and Heath, DigiCo, Mackie or Midas.

Great Mixer at any price

By IKE-IyJaG

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP5000 Powered Mixer:

I traded in my great PMX5000 for this PMP5000 for the upgrade in power. I love this mixer, it has everything you need and more. I use it in the studio and gig with it. It has plenty of power, plenty of inputs and a gaggle of features you just won't find in other mixers in any price range. I love German engineering! Consider this a mercedes of mixers.

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP5000 Powered Mixer:

Wonderful product, much lighter than a mixer and separate amp. Packed full of features like all Behringer products, and backed by their famous support. Powerful, compact, sounds great, and a great price (in comparison).

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP5000 Powered Mixer:

This mixer does it all. It is almost too much mixer for me, but I love it. It looks great and works great. I am still learning more and more about it everyday. It is a complex piece of equipment... Complex in a good way. Behringer has a number you can call to ask questions, and they have been very helpful every time I have spoken with them.

Third Times A Charm!

By AEROFARM

from Leoti, KS

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP5000 Powered Mixer:

Purchased the PMP5000 for our church. We run 3 mics and a guitar and keyboard through it during music and then a wireless mike for speaking. Worked great for a few weeks. One Sunday, smoke rolled out of the back. Sent it to a warranty repair shop. Worked for the next couple months and then we lost power to the speakers. Whenever we plug in a mic/guitar/keyboard turned on/etc. we get the loud static pop and then the main speakers have no output. After powering down it would work. It finally quit all together, so Behringer sent us a new one. It lasted 2 weeks and after one static pop, we lost our main speakers and can't get them back. Behringer has agreed to exchange in for the PMP6000. I sure hope it works better!

Good value but overall power weak

By Anonymous

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP5000 Powered Mixer:

I have owned the PMP5000 for about 6 months. It has plenty of features for the money. The 1200 watts is way over exaggerated. It feels more like 200 per side to me. I play keyboards in an all 80's band. When we are doing songs with a constant fat synth part in it, the keyboards cut out as do other instruments that are running through the mixer. I bought a Behringer 4000 watt amp and routed the main outs of the mixer to it. No problems with power now. I am running it with JBL mrx515 speakers. As far as sound quality, most of that will be in your speakers but the mixer can play a small role in this as well, but not much around this price range or even a little higher. Your quality of sound is only going to be as good as your weakest link. So, you can have an Allen and Heath console with Bose speakers, but if you are using cheap cables you will lose clarity. This is a decent bang for the buck. Do not settle for using cheap speakers, go with the JBL's. If not you will be fighting the EQ the entire gig trying to find a sweet spot for vocals.

Great mixer...I guess - NL4F

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP5000 Powered Mixer:

After reading almost uniformly favorably reviews of this mixers, I was excited to trade in my 200W Peavey power mixer and small mixer for the PMP5000. I week later I have not been able to use it since no store in Boston - including all the big music stores - carry the NL4F speakon connector. I had to have them custom made and ordered. I am surprised no other review mentioned the need for the 4 contact NL4F. Did everyone find them in their local stores? Are some of you using NL2F??

Surprising Performance

By Wishbone1961

from Richmond, VA

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP5000 Powered Mixer:

Bought this unit to use in my band rehearsal room/studio. Works great for that. Love the two separate monitor mix option. Decided to try it on a gig. Ran it in stereo mode to two Peavey 12" and horn cabs. Separate Mackie powered subs. Separate powered monitors and in ears for monitors. Mic'd the whole band (drums, 2 guitars and bass). Worked surpisingly well although I was concerned that there wasnt enough power. I will remain cautious though for several more gigs. Effects work well although we dont really use anything other than basic reverb. Probably would get a mixer and powered cabs next time since I have been more impressed by the Behringer B212A.

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP5000 Powered Mixer:

I purchased this after running out of inputs on my Yamaha 16 channel power mixer. We are a 9 piece R/B band with 4 horns. Worked as advertised for about 6 months when one day, luckily during a rehearsal, smoke poured from the rear of the unit-looked like one of those 4th of July snakes. I didn't purchase the additional warranty from musician's friend so other than giving me a website address they were of no help. The address they supplied me with was no good so I googled Behringer and they patched me thru to warranty service. I faxed them the required information and did not recieve a response. I faxed them again and still no response so after two weeks I called them again and recieved some line about not having the correct email address to contact me. I had supplied that information in both faxes. note--don't lose the reciept-Anyway after shipping the unit to them I recieved a new replacement in about 3 weeks. I like what it can do-I'm now not using the power amp in the board-I use 2 QSC amps and just use the effects and mixing capabilities-I'm very apprehensive and now keep my trusty Yamaha with me every gig just in case I see smoke. I plan to upgrade to rack mount gear and a good mixing board soon. I'll let you know in a year or two how it's working---george

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP5000 Powered Mixer:

Playing live is a hobby for me. When I can get away from work, I love gigging in small to medium venues. I have worked with Behringer gear in the past, so I decided to take the plunge and order one...Impressive is an understatement! The mixer section alone is worth the cash. It's routing options are just great. I run 2 x PV215 cabs with this and I have no problems. I ran a test by using the power section of the mixer up on bust, then, I used the mixer section alone with my EV 1200 watt power amp (Which weighs a ton and costs a fortune, might I add). The EV was louder, but not loud enough to make a difference in a club.OK, so I have 2 x 15" speakers and a horn per side being run by the PMP5000. I want to add an 18" sub to each side. No problem! I just use the MONO out and run it to my EV Power amp. The external power amp then runs the 18"s. Furthermore, because of this mixer, I don't need a crossover because the MONO out has a built in frequency filter knob which only sends the low frequencies to the subs! The built in FX engines are rather nice. The bass guitar sounds so lush with the mixer's onboard chorus effect.I also use this mixer for recording with my computer. The mixer has a few preamp out jacks on it and I can adjust the gain and eq before the signal goes into my Mac.All in all, great device. I remember PA gear before Behringer came onto the scene. Things were incredibly heavy and expensive. The performance wasn't that much better, if it was better at all. Thank you Behringer for setting up a manufacturing shop in China so we may benefit from the cheap labour costs and for the engineering feats (Powerful, light products) that keep the PA dinosaurs on their toes!

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP5000 Powered Mixer:

i am so glad i bought this mixer. has enough mics for almost any situation, even our lead and backup vox, miking both amps, and my 8-mic drum setup. my advise would be to make sure you know what you are doing with the power modes, or just use power amps. also the digital effects are sort of unnecessary at least for us. the sound quality is great if you know what you are doing.

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP5000 Powered Mixer:

I have been using the Behringer EUROPOWER PMP5000 Powered Mixer since Feb 2006 for hosting Karaoke and local bands . Never have had any problems with it.The only thing I added to my setup is a powered subs and a EQ..Five band EQs just don't cut it with live bands. My customers have always complimented the sound of my system and I have many returning for more shows.

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP5000 Powered Mixer:

Behringer can be hit or miss on some things. With that saying, I am pleased to say that this powered mixer is fantastic. I just used this one unit at a 300 seat club in Cambridge, Ma and performed wonderfully. It powered two dual 15"/tweeter mains (daisy chained, both together equalled 2 ohms) and one 8 ohm stage monitor. All by itself! It had plenty of volume, low end, and clairity for the room. Plus the bass drum had tons of punch. All instruments were going through the PA, as well as the vocals. This unit has totally replaced a large rack of power amps, an effects/eq rack, and a big mixer. I couldn't be more pleased. Just make sure you run your main/front speakers at 2 ohms (4 ohms a side) if possible to get the most volume/punch out of it and into your crowd.

The sound is great and I have been using it now for more than 2 years without any problems. Highly recommended.

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP5000 Powered Mixer:

I "out grown" my Behringer PMH1000, now the PMP5000 is a welcome improvement with lots more power, features. At 8 ohms 315 watts nominal is plenty for average events up to 200 people. The double FX is a plus, for instruments I can have delay, for voice I can have echo at the same time. For the price/performance/solid built and features, no one can go wrong.
