Nice and light and compact. The better the speakers, the better the sound.Less is better as far as the controls are concerned.I got mine on sale, and I would have paid more,I was that satisfied. This is not a high powered unit.If thats what you need,to blow a roof off...don't get this. The power rating is 100 watts RMS @ 8 ohms.I'm in an acoustic folk-rock band where clear vocals and back-up vocals are most important. In a word,it sounds great. This amp will handle a medium sized hall up to 150 fairly racus fans in a 5000 sq. foot space no problem.Use good mics and good speakers, and I don't believe you'll be disappointed.I'm thinking that Beringer stuff is very under-rated quality-wise......Have fun........

I have owned two of these units. I love the compact design and this unit fits my needs pretty well, but the units don't last a year. The quality is terrible.I use them with 3 Audio Technica wireless microphones and 4 Galaxy HotSpot speakers as a monitoring system for the 3-piece horn section of the rock band I play with. The first one stopped working after 8-9 months. We were doing a sound check at a gig, stopped hearing sound and looked at the unit. All of the lights were off. Replaced the fuse, still did not power on (and the new fuse didn't blow). Had that electrical burnt smell at the fan port. Since I bought it at an online auction, no warranty.Replaced it with a second unit. This one lasted slightly longer - 11 months. Was 5 songs into the first set at a gig when I smelled that electrical smell again. Turned around and the whole back of the stage was filled with smoke, which was pouring out of the back of the unit. Darn lucky we didn't set off the fire suppression system at the venue.Needlass to say, I won't be buying another.

Well...

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP518M Powered Mixer:

Ive had two of these mixers, but I was never crazy about them. The outputs are horribly low quality. They bend and break easily. I never abuse my equipment, but this thing might as well be made of glass. I could never figure out how I burned out my first mixer, but my second mixer's left output got jostled just slightly while it was on. There was some crackling from the left speaker before I could kill the power, and the exhaust smelled. Clearly it burned out.The sound quality of the system is not AWFUL. Most of the effects are complete garbage (there are 99 effects but most of them are about the same and just too trippy). The EQ isnt fantastic. Even with my SM-58, vocals sound pretty stale. Its not certanly not going ot make you sound any better than you are, and it will not last you longer than a year or so; especially if you plan on moving it around and taking it for gigs. I will not be purchasing another one. Also, the tape out is awfully buzzy. Don't use this thing to record.

Remarkable little amp

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP518M Powered Mixer:

I play in an acoustic duo using mandolin, guitar, two vocal mics, and an MP3 to cover breaks. We sometimes have a third guy who plays bodhran. I've had this unit for about a month. We've played two small pubs (about 80-100 people, relatively quiet), and three outdoor parties (you know the kind, crammed in the corner of some guy's deck with 40 or 50 guests in the backyard). This little amp has delivered everything we could have asked of it, and then some.We paired it with two 10" 'studio monitor' speakers, so they are nice and clean. This tiny, lightweight amp has covered all those jobs like a pro. Easy to use, simple, clean, more than enough power for small to medium small applications.I give this 5 stars for value because of its price. For what it is, it is the best small powered mixer I've found in its price range. If you play small bars, coffee houses, or churches and are tired of carrying heavy amps, get this.

PMP518M- Worst Behringer purchase I've ever made

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP518M Powered Mixer:

Avoid this PMP518M mixer. I have had ALOT of luck with Behringer--- mixers, active speakers, guitar stuff, etc. Leave this one alone--- it's not even stereo! It is underpowered and just does not sound good. Behringer makes products with amazing value but this is not one of them.

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP518M Powered Mixer:

Seems like a good deal. One of the cheapest powered amps on the market. Let's put some emphasis on the "cheap" here though. Hardly a year old and it literally blows up on us one day. We send it back to Behringer (at our expense) and get a new replacement in exchange. Plug it in and guess what? All the channels are fuzzy. Now more time and money lost. Learn a lesson from us. Junk gear like this just doesn't pay off!

    Worked GREAT...for a week.

    By timinks

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP518M Powered Mixer:

This thing is nice and compact, and pretty powerful for such a small mixer. Mine worked really great for the 1st week, then the thing blew up. Smoke started coming out the back of it and a very strong 'burning wire' smell emitted from it. All I had connected to it was 2 speakers and a small portable CD player. I'm going to try another one and hope all is well.

If only these mixers kept working...

    By GTj8eJ7bn

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP518M Powered Mixer:

Our mixer stopped working just 6 months after buying it. It was only used for showing movies in a small room. It was treated extremely gently and could not have been blown out. It just won't power on anymore. Replacing the fuse does nothing; I suspect it is a problem with the transformer.

    great price for practice!

Comments about Behringer EUROPOWER PMP518M Powered Mixer:

I play drums, but in the band we use it for voice mic only for the 2 singers. We have a 12" speaker and it works perfect, it burnt in about 4 months, we bought the same one and expect to last more, we bought it again because of the price and the integrated efects processor.
