- Limited Functions
- Rehearsals/small venues
Comments about Behringer Europower PMP580S:
I play with some guys in a side band apart from my regular band. They didn't have a regular PA and what we were using was minimal and that is being kind. I knew we needed something better to hear ourselves at rehearsals. Money is tight and since at I am towards the end of my playing career, I didn't want to spend a lot of cash. The band booked a gig a small bar, so I decided to get something. I have other Behringer equipment that I use in my home studio: two small mixers, a condenser mic and a headphone amp. They have all served me well. I saw the PMP580S and had a friend who is an audio expert check it out. Knowing this is not the "nirvana" of PA equipment, he said this would do the job for what I was looking for. I have only used this head at two rehearsals and one gig. I have been running it with one side powering the mains and the other side the monitors. The venue was small, about 60 feet long and maybe 16-20 feet wide. The drummer had to set up behind the amps. We put a mic on the bass drum and another overhead mic for the drums. I also put a mic on my guitar amp and put that slightly into the monitors so that the drummer could hear the guitar. We had another monitor out front for three of us. We used four channels for vocals, two for drums and one for guitar. During the last set, the bass player was having trouble with his rig so we put him right into the PA. I think his bass sounded better through the PA.
I had the individual vocals a little over half way and had the mains level on about 3/4. The vocals could be heard and everyone could hear the monitors. We are using a mish mash of various speakers and the sound was decent. I can only imagine how it would sound using quality speakers and monitors.
This is an inexpensive PA for rehearsals and small gigs. I gave it "limited functions" as there are not extra outputs or inputs. You pretty much have to use the amp as is. Effects are good. For the price, it does its' job. It has a plastic casing.
