First of all, the effects are garbage. They are noisy and essentially useless. The ONLY module from the effects processor I use is the tone generator, which comes in handy from time to time. Ignore the effects. Pretend that they simply don't exist and you'll be much happier with this product. The preamps aren't too bad, but they're not matched well. Just make sure you use the same channel when double-tracking and be aware that you may have (minor) problems with stereo micing. The pres and main feeds are pretty quiet, but the aux feeds can get a bit noisy...Lot's of routing options, though. If you're just looking to get off the ground, this is a good starting point. Can be useful in larger applications as a monitor mixer or subgroup mixer. But if you're accustomed to using higher-quality boards (like Mackie), save for the better product or you'll likely be dissapointed. It is what it is.

After my initial troubles with the sensitivity switch I continued to use the unit because they said it was working 'properly'. To this day I am avoiding the sens. switches because using them causes the channel to fade away and distort, and now even the left main chanel is starting to die. The features are so promising but I won't buy another Behringer product.

Loaded up mixer

Have had it for a while now. Great feature set, even though the effects are noisy. Once you get used to setting them, they are tolerable. Phaser and reverb work pretty well. Overall, preamps are quiet and mixdown is clean. For the price, a good, solid board.

Great product

I think some reviewers are missing the purpose of this product. This mixer is obviously intended for use as a beginning/intermediate mixer. It probably isn't suited for professional recording purposes. However, as a musician that has just recently gotten into the world of recording, I can say that this is an excellent product for the money. I have had zero noise problems, even with effects, and it has plenty of power for basic recording projects (I have used mine a lot for a drum set). I would highly recommend this mixer to anyone looking to get started recording, or for people looking to upgrade from a more basic mixer.

FX noise, sensitivity switch complaints

By Peter The Hun

from Undisclosed

used as a "bedroom mixer"- 1622FX-Pro connects my computer (M-Audio Delta sound card) to turntables, radio/tv, microphones etc. for computer-based recording. The onboard effects are not very classy; adjustment comes only from input/output volumes, and the effects have a lot of background noise overall. The EQ sound quality and overall noise levels are not bad but not great.Beware when using line inputs with the sensitivity switch depressed to -10 dB. Inputs from devices with too high output impedance suffer severe distortion and loss of sound due to op-amp circuit "latch-up". The Behringer warranty technician insisted this is not a defect but inherent in the design; as a result I can't use the higher sensitivity with half of my gear. BOO! (otherwise YAY)

Very Noisy--Not worth it

I could plug a microphone directly into a powered speaker cab and get almost twice the headroom.

The price is right!!

A great little mixer. I use it at church for the drums, put it in my back pack and use it at home for my home studio. I am very please with the quality and features of this product.

A Great Value

It's great cause it has its own reverb settings and adds that professional touch in a small mixer.

Great price.

This is an excellent product, and the 24 bit digital effects rock. The pre-amps built in save me a lot of money too. Great product.

I bought this for my bands practice room

By Held Hostage

from Fulton, NY

I purchased this great little mixer for my bands practice room and I could not be happier the sound is clear and crisp ,effects work great and the price was right. I have read several reviews that say it is noisy and is junk . I DONT FIND THAT everything I've ever bought from Behringer has been top notch at an affordable price A +.

Very Nice mixer

This is a great mixer for a small band or home studio. The complaints about noise are easily fixed when you understand that condenser mics especially are so very sensitive. Keep the effects volume a bit lower it's very sensitive and you will bypass all that unwanted noise. It's agreat mixer for the price , if you consider yourself a pro then buy a high end Mackie or something.
