I'm a songwriter who writes metal and other styles. I use an Alesis SR16 drum machine and play electric bass and electric guitar straight in the Behringer UB502 and run it through the Amplitube plugin. It is very clean. Crystal clear and crisp on the vocals that I record with a NADY SP-1 (awesome neodymium mic). The 2 band EQ is helpful. There is no phantom power so for condensor mics you'll need a phantom power supply. There is no power button, you just plug it in and record. I love it. Best bang for your buck. Very little noise and plenty of headroom for just about anything.

I am in a three-piece punk band that has had this mixer for just over a year. We have recorded one album with it and started another with it too. We were already paced into the inputs by runing vocals and a guitar on the mono channel, and then we got another band member. We tried to put him in a stereo chanel with the bass, but it didn't even register him.

Comments about Behringer Eurorack UB502 5-Channel Compact Mixer:

Instead of purchasing a sound bar with a sub-woofer, I use this nifty little board to run mini jack to RCA to 1/4 in. out to my Genelecs to watch movies. Have not tried to use as an actually recording piece, but hope to soon. I get great signal without any noise (going Mac mini 3.5mm to RCA in and 1/4 out)! It's a perfect little mixer for my needs. Anyone who is looking to record there live band in a basement using multi-track, is probably not going to cut it for you. Unless you use one mic (which does not need phantom power), and capture your practices and maybe your live performances, just as reference. This is then a good piece for the price. You are not going to make a record with this mixer! Great for writing demo work!

Decent For The Price

Pros

  • Classic Cable Mounting
  • Rca Cable Support

Cons

  • No Phantom Power
  • Very Sensitive Inputs

Best Uses

  • At Home Recording
  • No Phantom Power

Comments about Behringer Eurorack UB502 5-Channel Compact Mixer:

I was bummed that for all this little board offers, the XRL does not offer Phantom Power for the one mic output. It does not seem like it would have been that hard to do. But other than that, it's decent. But there are more state of the art boards out there like this, for the price.

I've had this mixer for a few months now and it sounds great. Not much eq and no phantom power but for the price what more can you expect?Better sounding than my older eurorack. the pre-amp is great. Over all a great mixer if you only need a few inputs/ outputs.

Comments about Behringer Eurorack UB502 5-Channel Compact Mixer:

This little thing is the definition of compact. I take it everywhere I go because one, it fits in my pocket, and two, I can't get it out because it gets stuck. So every time I sit, I get dial imprints in my skin. I used to use my ubb1002 mixer from Behringer for my computer, but this works even better. Buy it if you just need a few inputs and nothing more. Not to much, not to little. Great price!

    My first and last mixer

Comments about Behringer Eurorack UB502 5-Channel Compact Mixer:

This was what i first started recording with a few years ago when i was first getting into music. I liked it a lot at first, cause it did what i needed it to. However, I recall a lot of noise on the first channel when you turned the gain up at all, and I was very dissapointed about that. After using an interface, i'm staying digital. No more analog mixers for me. But if you need something cheap to track with and you're just starting out... this will do what you need it to do, but i recommend checking out a cheap 2 input USB interface.

Great QUIET operation. I use it for a personal headphone mixer during recording sessions. I plug me in channel (1) and the "mix" in the stereo channel. No one complains that the keyboard is too loud anymore. Works excellent for my application.

I just got this in the mail today and is it awesome!! I have my keyboard hooked up to the second channel input and my drum microphone in the mono channel input. The sound is great, clean and clear, and I like how it has a headphone monitoring jack. It is in my home studio- it is a great mixer especially for the price!!

Comments about Behringer Eurorack UB502 5-Channel Compact Mixer:

I bought this to use as a mixer for my personal in-ear monitors. It functions well, but if you plan on gigging with it, transport it a well-padded case/bag because the plastic knobs look kinda cheap, like they could easily break off if mishandeled. A good lil mixer for the price.

This was my first piece of actual musical or recording hardward other than mics and headphones. Other than this, everything I have used is digital but I must say, this is a must buy for the starting musician. It's absolutely perfect. It's hard to believe I ever recorded without it.

    A Decent Cheap Solution

Comments about Behringer Eurorack UB502 5-Channel Compact Mixer:

I currently use 25 of these in a music education classroom. It is a cheap and easy way to have vocals, keyboard, and guitars routed to a computer, and an individual headset/communication system. Big enough that students won't steal them, cheap enough to replace if one breaks.

i bought this compact mixer with my first studio and was pleased. The quality was okay but it started to turn bad when i had to power BIGGER things. My only beef is that it doesnt have phantom power so it cant power most condenser mics but other than that its OKAY.

Comments about Behringer Eurorack UB502 5-Channel Compact Mixer:

Bought one of these to control the audio into one of my computer DAWs. Behringer cut no corners on quality, despite it's ridiculously low price. The pots all feel fluid and solid, the build quality is impressive, and it's dead quiet, even with the controls nearly maxed out and no signal run through it. I would've liked a power switch, (it's on all of the time) but it takes very little current to run, and where would they put it? This thing is tiny! That Behringer can build such great products at these prices never ceases to amaze me. This is the sixth piece of Behringer gear I own, and it's all been terrific. Keep up the great work, guys!

    portable practice station

    By trymone

Comments about Behringer Eurorack UB502 5-Channel Compact Mixer:

I like the size. It is small enough to fit in my gig bag and I take it with me everywhere and use it as a practice station with my portable cd player and headphones. I wasn't so concerned with sound that much. So I don't have much too say about the quality. The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't have a ON/OFF power switch.

    Decent entry level mixer.

    By rwhite

    from Alabama

Comments about Behringer Eurorack UB502 5-Channel Compact Mixer:

I recently purchased this mixer from MF. I use it as an input device to run instruments into my computer for home recording. I have ran acoustic guitars, keyboards, and mic'd ampifiers through it and they all recorded nicely using Acid Pro 4.0. My only complaint is that you can hear a slight "crackling" sound in the background on the final recording. Overall though, it's really not that noticable and for the price, it get's the job done. If you're looking for an affordable way to begin home recording with a PC, this is definitely a good option.

Comments about Behringer Eurorack UB502 5-Channel Compact Mixer:

The quality of this item is great. The price is unbelievable: I would pay twice the price for this thing! I use it as an interface between an electric bass and a p.a. power amplifier, and it works amazingly. The features are definetely adequate, although a power switch would've been nice. It's a heavy-duty, high-quality piece of equipment that does a great job!
