Our church decided to make the move from floor monitors to in-ears, but wanted to gradually do it over a few years. The end-goal is to have an aviom(or similar) system. These units have turned out to be exactly what we need at this point. Our FOH mixer has 4 aux sends. I use one, our drummer uses another, then we send the rest of the musicians 1 flat mix, and all our backup vocalists another flat mix. Each one of the musicians and vocalists (other than the drummer and I) have one of these units. The flat mix goes into the MON input, and their mic/instrument goes into the MIC input. This gives them the ability to have "more me" in their ears. The initial shock of going in-ears was an adjustment for some (I've been using the shure PSM system for a few years), but now everyone is very happy, and our sound guys are even happier. They never hear "Can I have more me in my monitor?" anymore. :)The only negative is that they can kind of be finicky. We have the exact same trs-to-xlr cable going to each of them, but some need to be set to "MONO" and some need to be set to "STEREO" to work. We had one stop working, but it was quickly replaced, for free. The bottom line is - this is not even close to a fraction of the price of an aviom system, and it does well beyond its [$] pricetag. We're very happy with them.**Note, contrary to behringer's website, these units do NOT work when your mixer has phantom power turned on. We use one condenser microphone for our drum overhead mic, and had to purchase a phantom power unit to power that mic, separate from the mixer. Minor inconvenience.

Bought this for our drummer so he could have our click tracks for live shows and his own monitor mix in his headphones. I could see this being useful in a quieter setting, but for live performances (no matter which type of isolating headphones) you really can't get this thing loud enough, it almost sounds like there's a 15 or 20dB pad in effect. Threw this in the junk pile and bought the Behringer AMP800 from my local music shop (they let me test it out first!). A lot more output gain and adjustable input gain. Plus it's 4 stereo channels (TRS). If you don't need a lot of volume the MicroMon will do, but for live or loud applications, I would definitley look elsewhere.

Comments about Behringer Micromon MA400 Headphone Amplifier:

I bought this amp several years ago and it's still working perfectly. I am a drummer and I use it to hear my vocals and the monitor mix clearly. I use Shire Se215 ear buds. You can't beat the price of this amp..

Did the trick with our Mackie DL1608

Comments about Behringer Micromon MA400 Headphone Amplifier:

Our Mackie DL1608 has balanced mono aux outs. I'm using one for my in-ear monitors. I bought this amp for the sole purpose of getting sound to both side of the headphones rather than just the left side. It has solved that problem. I really have no need for the mic mix feature as that is controlled through my Mackie app on my Iphone, so I can not comment regarding that feature.

              The unit is well built.

I looked at the Rolls personal monitor box to start with, then I saw these for less than half the price. I bought two and used them on a tracking session the day after I got them. NO complaints from the players. They worked just as they were designed. Will buy more when the need arises.

Does the job of a rolls mini-monitor with better features at half (or less than half) the price. Going to use it in a PEM setup while drumming.

Comments about Behringer Micromon MA400 Headphone Amplifier:

I specifically bought a Kustom Defender 15V Combo due to the XLR out for recording and also, I figured I could use headphones off my recorder. However, I didn't want to beat up my handheld recorder (Tascam DR-40) so, I had hoped they made something like this where I use the XLR out and then, I use headphones out of the box. I used it for the first time tonight with just a Walrus Audio Mayflower, and I totally dug it. Lubs it, as a matter of fact based on this one experience.

Works great as an individual in-ear monitor amplifier. I just brought the monitor mix in on the XLR mic input and then chained the mix on to the next unit. Perfect little unit, especially for the price! I bought 6 of these and removed all floor monitors. Not as flexible as Avioms, but gets you close at a fraction of the cost.

                            · Non-wireless a huge drawback and very cumbersome (I should have known better).
                            · Level out very low (had to crank the line out of the mixer to receive a decent level).
                            · A waste of money.

I bought this for a production show's pianist for timing and tightness of performance. It's Mic input handles medium line levels very well, and it was a perfect use for this device. In my home studio, I use it to enhance the poor output of the headphone amp of my mixing console while rehearsing on drums. And while the Stereo line input doesn't do well with a direct line signal, it reamplifies the headphone output to a great extent

I bought this for my drummer to use in my band. He sings harmonies and in our relatively small practice space it's hard to put his vocals into the mix without getting feedback. This box allows me to send him a headphone monitor mix of the vocals, and he can adjust the volume of his own voice in that mix independently. He's been working on harmonies for just a few months and this box has been HUGE in his development. My only complaint is that it could be louder, but I will also say that he is one of the loudest drummers I have played with and he can definitely still hear himself clearly in headphones. I would definitely recommend this product for any band/drummer looking for an individual monitoring solution for either practice or gigs. We use it for both and it works wonders. At this price, you can't beat it!
