Behringer 4 channel multigate

| Review By: Michael Player | 3 months, 1 week ago

Features:

The lights would not work on all channels.  Channel 2 was bad and you could feel resistance when you turned the knobs.  Sent it back.  MF was very nice over the phone.

tough to beat

Features:

The multicom is a very handy array of compressors. Even though they aren't full featured, they give you enough dynamic prossessing to cover most applications. I use it mostly for recording but the gates work well for miking drums live.

Quality:

As with all Beringer gear the controls are a little flimsy and I wouldn't suggest cranking them hard but that said I own quite a few of their products and have never had a problem with moderate care. The great thing is how quiet they are.

Value:

Price compressors ( 4 mono or 2 stereo) and it's clear you can't beat the price.

Overall:

If you need to do some signal squishing get one or two. I have two to compress after an eight channel mic pre.

The vice is nice!

Features:

This is a great piece of equipment.  It put the squeeze on my bass player who can get a little "over the top" if you know what I mean.  With four channels I was able to not only tame the bass but slap some compression on the kick, snare and one of my vocalists who has the tendency to hit frequencies that only dogs can hear. Stop looking and buy this, it will give you more consistent drums and with the gate feature you can tame the howlers!

Quality:

I don't plan on throwing this off a bus but I think it could stand up to the rigors of the road!

Value:

Can't go wrong with Behringer pricing.  Good equipment and a fair price and it won't leave you eating pork and b eans the rest of the month!

Overall:

Great product, good price and does what it says, don't you wish everything was like that?

Does the job nicely

I needed a limiter to keep drummers and vocalists with bad mic skills from peaking pre's in live situations and the limiters do this nicely.  I'm not using the compressors just the hard limiters and the unit is silent in this situation.  No noise added to my system and to be quite honest.  I'm recording live bands and need as good a signal coming in as I can get and only 3 or 4 of the 16 mic's get limited as the others simply dont need it...however..for the ones that do, this unit works flawlessly.  It's been on 13 sessions thus far and all of them on the road and racked so it's not banged around too much.  All channels work ok and no probs.  A good value for my uses.

I have to say that despite some bad reviews this is a pretty good unit. Although I dont think I would record with it, it's very good for live PA situations. My band does a lot of three part harmony stuff and it makes our vocals sound full and balanced. Plus the kick drum is is very punchy at tight. We had one of these for about 2 years and it crapped out so we bought another about a year and a half ago and have had no problems with the new one yet. After our first one took a dump we bought a couple of the cheaper dbx ones and they did not sound as good so we sent them back a got one of this again. We play about 30-40 gigs a year so they get their use. Yeah they are cheap but they sound good for live stuff. If you have the extra cash to throw around then go ahead and buy the high dollar stuff but if you dont than this will do you just fine.
