My band wanted to record every practice, and had troubles striking a balance between a good recorded sound and a good monitoring sound in our small practice room. While it took some effort to understand the best way to use this product (Behringer isn't known for their clearly-written manuals!), once we got a handle on how to use this, we've not looked back.I would advise you to use the best headphones you can with this. My guitarist has better 'phones than I do, and you can really hear the difference. In order to compensate, I run the 'direct out' from my bass channel on the mixer to the 'aux in' for my 'phone set, and can tweak the balance between the main mix and the aux in to my heart's content. The only downside? Just four channels. But each of those channels can handle up to three 'phones apiece! If you need more channels, buy another one and daisy chain 'em.

I would not reccomend thsi product because of long term quality issues. I've owned this amplifier for about four years. THis first two years were great. Then unexpectidly, the individual channel amps started getting static and lot of impedance. I was out of the warrenty time period, so I'd either have to pay to get it fixed or buy a new one. I was so surprised. THis is a good brand, and lots of people highly reccommended this. I'm just so frustrated with the fact that every time you adjust the volume even touching it, you'll get a loud scratching sound in the headphones. It's just unbearable. I don't have any reccommendations for a replacement, but I hope to find one soon.

Comments about Behringer POWERPLAY PRO-XL HA4700 HEADPHONE AMP:
Cheap compare to the competition,I prefered spending my money on better converters and preamps.
This is the second unit I owned and they both started to crackle ,loose one channel due to very cheap component.
The studio has AC 24/7 ,this is the only piece of equipment that has failed me.
This last one even has the piece of plastic around the on/off button missing ????
I gave it a 5 because it does what it's suppose to do ,only for a limited time....

I've had it a little over two years and had no problems . Others may have better sound quality for much more money but this has done a great job , no complaints .
Comments about Behringer POWERPLAY PRO-XL HA4700 HEADPHONE AMP:
I love this amp. I needed a headphone amp to record a vocal group and they loved it. Im happy with the product. The only real complaint I have is that it can get slightly noisy if the gain is turned up to high. Not a big problem because not many people want the sound too loud anyway.
Comments about Behringer POWERPLAY PRO-XL HA4700 HEADPHONE AMP:
I had bought one a few years ago, and it crapped out on me 12-months and 9 days(means warrenty's up). I figured, I only paid $100 for it so I went and got another one. BIG MISTAKE! The second one lasted 2+ years but 2-years? come on. I am convinced Behriger is junk. I am fortunate I have never bought other Behringer stuff and I never will. The problem with it was the output was distorted and fuzzy sounding with almost no out put volume. Well, I was recording and could not figure out where the problem was. Finally, I plugged my phones into my Yamaha 24 track digital recorder's phone out put, and "PAYDIRT". The sound was back. The point is I wasted 2-3 days messing around trying to figyre out what the problem was...and of course, the problem was intermittent...so it came and went making it harder to figure out what was goig on. Never again...Just say no to Behringer...no mattter how tempting the price...P.S. Go A.R.T. A little more money(but still inexpensive), but much better quality for those of us that need to keep costs down.
Comments about Behringer POWERPLAY PRO-XL HA4700 HEADPHONE AMP:
This amp works well. It is definitely worth the money. We have had no problems with hum or excess noise with our unit. We use this unit along with vic firth noise-canceling headphones to make the volume of practice tolerable. We run everything into the board then monitor out to this amp, so no feedback for vocals or loud guitars, this method also allows for silent recording. As well as the vic firth headphones we have also used this with some higher end Sony's and it still sounds fine. WOULD RECCOMEND.
Comments about Behringer POWERPLAY PRO-XL HA4700 HEADPHONE AMP:
I don't have much to say about this unit other than the fact that it produces tons of hum/static noise on all 4 channels. It's not so bad when tracking but on standby it get's very annoying. I'll be returning this for a different unit.
Comments about Behringer POWERPLAY PRO-XL HA4700 HEADPHONE AMP:
I've owned this for about three years and have used the heck out of it. I would rather have a Hearback system in the studio, but this gets the job done on the cheap. I've seen the other reviewers complaining about hum, but I have not had that experience. The hum is being introduced up stream I think. The nice feature about this amp is that it will let you go one ear, or mono, or both by simply pushing a button. In fact we like this so much we are looking at an 8 channel version for our worship team at church. Ignore the bad press. Behringer has been pretty good to me...
Comments about Behringer POWERPLAY PRO-XL HA4700 HEADPHONE AMP:
I've had the HA4700 for a few months now. I use it for two things... Firstly, as a way to switch between my studio monitors for post-production work. Secondly, as a headphone monitor for my band. We just use the small mixer we already had and bought this thing used for cheap. It lets us all practice "silently" as a band. The only halfway negative thing I have to say is that there isn't a volume control for the Master Out. But then again, you don't really need one because you barely ever use it anyway... it's main function is the headphone application. Overall I'm very pleased!
Comments about Behringer POWERPLAY PRO-XL HA4700 HEADPHONE AMP:
I use the Behringer HA4700 in my project studio along with an Akai DPS24 MkII to record my own music as well as track full bands. This unit offers an excellent amount of features, flexibility and ease of use for the price. I bought mine used in good condition, but I can say it's definitely worth the price to purchase new. I've never had any issues with hum or signal noise on any of the channels as some have reviewed, using anything from a "cheap" More Me set of headphones to a pair of HD280s. However I always use balanced cables (TRS or XLR) for connecting my equipment, operate on an isolated circuit, try to detect and avoid ground loops and steer clear of PC towers and florescent transformers that might provide interference.
