I have had a pair of these monitors as my go to desktop setup for going on 7 years. I use them for many purposes, although the one I need them to really shine for is sound mixing for independent film production. I have found them to be great for this purpose. I have them routed through an 8 channel Mackie mixer that is connected both directly to my computer as well as through a separate Protools setup. In both cases they work wonderfully. The sound quality is excellent and there is no distortion, noise, hum, or artifacts. The best part is that the response is so incredibly flat. I find that the mids are solid, bass is full and highs are crisp. The sweet spot is good for a desktop setup, but not great if you want to use these for an entertainment center or to dominate a room. You need to be within a few feet of these to get a good balance with the sound. I have mixed several films on these and the mixes have always worked well in a variety of setups, from a home theater to a full size theater. Nothing will work as well for mixing as an in theater mixing studio, but for an incredibly reasonable price these got me awfully close.

When I'm not working, these are just plain wonderful to listen to music on. They sound amazing from jazz to dubstep. The sound is just so amazingly clean. You can hear every nuance in the recording and the instruments. Volume is more than adequate. You could certainly damage your ear drums with these if you weren't paying attention.

I can easily recommend these as some of the best monitors in their price range. I listened to a host of other monitors (including many that were hundreds of dollars more than these) and they were the clear winners for my taste in sound. I was actually stunned that many of the more expensive speakers didn't sound as good. I am not crazy about a lot of Behringer products in general, but these I would buy again in a second. I will be crushed when (and if) these ever die on me.

I love the fact that you don't need a subwoofer with these. Adding a sub to these during the mixing stage will take away from what these things can really do. I even let a producer who has been in the business for twice as long as i have hear one of my mixes and he is now ready to retire his Events for a pair. I read a review where someone pointed out that the 2031as can go as loud as you want them to and I agree. I dare anyone to turn these up to the max and still be able to hear afterwards.
The fact that they adjust and tune to room size and positioning in a room!.. Not to mention been able to tweek the response levels of the low and high frequencies for that perfect sound.. they cover all the basics. A minor improvement would be putting the volume knobs in the front..
I came from roland DM2100s. I admit not the best in the world for mixing but they are great for listening to the final mix afterwards. The clarity in these monitors are crazy. If you can make it sound good on these it will sound good anywhere.
For what they can do. the solid wood box that the speakers sit in. WELL WORTH THE PRICE

I originally bought those speakers because I heard they were inexpensive with very good performance. The pair I received had one tweeter not working as good as it supposed to be causing a unbalanced sound field.
Musician's Friend immediately issued me a return. They are and have always been doing a very good job. The speakers are very heavy and the boxes are big making it very hard to move around that's the only complain about receiving a faulty product.
Sound wise, these speakers are very accurate, very clear highs, very rich mids, clear lows. Front exhaust ports making positioning very easy. In addition, they made the power and audio inputs facing down meaning you can put these speakers against the wall without any problem.
They are not the best looking speakers, but I like the old school style.A lot of adjustments to suit different environment.
Powerful.
Easy to position.
There is a possibility of getting a defective item.
Inexpensive for a good sound.

You have to buy them.
I went into a local store to test out some monitors in my price range, just to get a feel for what I wanted to buy. I had my eyes on JBL Lsr 2325 monitors, KRK Rokit 5's, and Mackie Mr5Mk2's. I first listened to the Mackie's, they had way too much bass and not a clear treble. the Rokit's were accurate, but there was no power so it was intense listening, the JBL's were accurate as well, just more bassy than the latter. I then listened to the Behringer B2031a's and was blown away, they were the best compared to monitors twice their price range. the sweet spot is huge like they advertise, the power is twice all the other monitors making each sound very accurate and easy to hear. The frequency was unbeleivably flat, even the sales people were impressed. I then wanted to compare these to a higher end model, so I turned on the JBL 4328p monitors, and the Behringer's were suprisingly similar. Of course the JBL's sounded a lot better, more power, and a slightly more defined sound, but in terms of frequency they were both very flat sounding. Behringer's are the best speakers you can get in or above their price category. Buy them and you will be amazed.
Despite what hundreds of reviews say online, I bought these and found them to be very sturdy. The reviews online also are not monitor owners, they are previous owners of mixers and compressors and etc..
Best monitors for your money, without a doubt.

These monitors are really clean, clear, and crisp - the low end is very sufficient and the high end is nice as well. Only problem is, ordered two of these from Musician's friend, one worked out of the box and one took some work. One wouldn't power on until I had popped the fuse out and popped it back in, and the positive cable running to the tweeter was also disconnected. Pretty simple stuff to troubleshoot, probably came loose during shipping, but still, just expect to plug these in and have them work? These are good monitors for the home-studio.

I Love em ! Well I bought a pair when they came out, very impressed in ALL areas. I recently had a sump pump put in the basement, had to move the studio. I put these in the living room, hooked up to a K2000. I goofed around a bit, turned it all off.. I thought.. left one monitor on by mistake.. it has been a couple of months since, I found out today I left one on, yikes ! covered, it was luke warm, and works like a champ, still, lol, I never heard a peep out of it for months ! Sitting there "on", no crackles or pops, I LOVE THESE MONITORS :)

These monitors are the most VALUBLE pieces of equipment in my setup. They are accurate and full throughout the entire frequency spectrum. I had bought a much more expensive competitor's pair, and was immediately dissatisfied, so they were returned. I had some Behringer mixers and liked their sturdiness and value, so I said, "Why not give their monitors a shot. The other highly acclaimed pair were all low and high end with no midrange." I bought the pair thinking I was going to have to return them. But when I plugged them in, adjusted the many different settings on the back to best desired, I was BLOWN AWAY! These monitors do speak the TRUTH, with a flatness throughout the entire spectrum. I've mixed epic club rap beats, with 40-60hz bass, as well as indie rock music, full or midrange and punchy guitars and bass. These monitors are an extreme value. Don't be fooled into buying something you can't afford, and in the end, not being satisfied. If you're looking to make high quality industry standard mixes, then get these! You won't regret it! I did give the quality a lower mark because one of the monitors I originally bought had an internal buzz when producing certain frequencies. Something had come loose while handling, so I switched it out for a new one after I had decided I loved them. Have had my pair for a year and a half, and have had no further problems. Amazing value!

At first they seemed great, but about a month in, the high's cut out of the right monitor. It was my fault not to send them back for warranty, but since then, the bass has blown on one and the highs on the other monitor are gone too. waste of money.

I have now produced four ep projects on these speakers. They are not over complimentive speakers which is what you want. I have a pair of Tannoys as well but found them to bright and force my mixes to be dull. I also use a sub (Yamaha YST 150) since the bottom end is weak on these speakers. They are not Yamaha NS10 but they are decent for the money and will reflect what most listeners will hear on there personal systems. For this, I give it a great rating. I use Izotope Ozone for mastering with these speakers and they seem to work well with my small studio.

I've had my pair for about five years and they still sound outstanding! That's because I don't abuse them. Delivers accurate respresentation of what has been played/recorded. To be honest, when I told my fellow producer affiliates that I had researched these monitors and was considering purchasing them, they laughed at me. But when I got them and they heard them, their mouths dropped and they all had egg on there faces (not literally of course). Since then, a few of them have considered and purchased these babies and are thoroughly satisfied just as I am! These are definitely a bang for the buck!
