I'll start off this review by noting I've been using these monitors now for 7 years, so I'm not some excited newbie I'm actually a guy that's been recording for about 17 years now and have had this product for 7 years. I'll start by noting how flat these are. They are perfect in that whatever I play on them that sounds bad sounds bad on all other systems. Whatever sounds good translates to sounding good on other sources. Being I've had mine so long I have to rate the quality very high as I've had ZERO problems with mine - no joke... not one problem, though I've read some horror stories from some owners. That being said I'd like to note I've read some slight speculation on the net that the older models, such as mine, are far better in quality than the more current models... again though that is purely specualtion from like 2 people.I've tried upgrading, cause we all want the supposed "best" no? I've tried Dynaudio BM15A's, Mackie HR824's (MK1 & MK2) and I keep coming back to these and returning the others. I will say, the new Mackies are awesome but the bass is just way too much for a "half-space" setup, meaning a setup where there's a wall right behind your speakers. The room acoustics need serious treating due to the Mackies deep low end response and that costs thousands in serious basstraps to fix the problem. I don't have this problem with the Behringers, yet I still have great tight punchy low end, just not as low as others might go. In all honesty though most consumer listening sources don't have a good accurate sub-50hz response anyway.I don't know what else to say about them. I mean, they're flat, they're super accurate, they're super inexpensive, and I've had mine for 7 years and they're still going strong. Your mileage may vary of course so you're on your own. But after all this time I thought, "Why didn't I ever write a review? After all this time I think I have something valuable to contribute".

I just had to try these for the money. I've been mixing for years and must say these speakers are ok once you train your ear to them. The highs are a little much as well as the low end....not all that flat.I sat them up beside my NS10's and Genelecs 1031A's. BIG difference!!!! The flat response of the Behringers is now so apparent. Don't get me wrong the price is outstanding!!! and they really do sound good, but when you compare them to the pros I'd spend the extra money. Right now I'm using them for my rear channel speakers in a 5.1 surround sound setup and work great!!! Just don't be fooled when people say these are the best and that they sound great. Go to the music store and Listen for yourself.

Great Monitors

By Mat Ryan

from San Antonio, TX

Love these things! Very good value. Definitely a great price for the quality. They sound superb and are built like a tank, and look great too. Flat response, no fatigue from hours of monitoring either. I likes, and you will too! Lots of options on the back for room compensation to make any room or position sound good. If you're thinking of buying these, do it - they'll make you smile.

Studio Worthy

By Toneseeker361

Ask me a question

I purchased a pair of b2031a monitors about two weeks ago, and I need to tell ya', they sound fantastic.I'm running them through a behringer UB 1204 pro mixer and the FB1502 eq plus an Aphex 204 (which makes anything sound brilliant).I would recommend these in a heartbeat, the only thing is eversince I purchased the Aphex 204, I have become use to the "HD" sound it puts out.Without it, they still sound very flat. And if I need to make sound adjustments, thats what the EQ is for. They look like more expensive monitors.I had a pair of JBL E-30's, and these have more bottom, and crisp, linear, shimmering highs, as opposed to the JBL more "open" sounding dometweeter. It's a matter of taste.I have them mounted on each corner of the room about 4 ft heigh, and the bass is really punchy, but not booming, there is an adjustment for that behind the cabinet.I own several Behringer products including powered speakers, guitar pedals, and now that they make there own stuff instead of giving the blueprints to a subcontractor factory in China, they have come a long way IMHO.I am very please with this product, they seem to be well built, and made to last.Overall, a great buy if your into sound quality, and not trying to keep up with the Joneses.

Plenny good, versatile

By shredd

from Rockies

I've had these for about 3 years now. I use them for everything: I play my git'r, bass, and synths through them (off the board); I mix and playback with them too.Lots of people have complained about reliability/quality; I've had no such problems. I think it's because I've used them consdrvatively, not blasted them to the limits of their power. I know their limitations. But I've been very happy with the sound quality and ability to reproduce what I've done. I also like being able to tailor them for any room.So...like many Berhinger products, an EXcellent bang for the buck item, even if it isn't elite-class gear. Worth it.

Great Radio

By Stereomaster

from Florida

I bought these monitors because of the bang for the buck you get with them. And for what it's worth they do sound good for the money. My only real gripe with them is that they pick up the radio. This happens even when nothing is plugged into the inputs so it's not a loose cable. I opened up the amps and installed several RF chokes everywhere I could and that helped. But the problem is still there. From what other people are saying the problem seems to depend on how close you are to a strong radio signal. (I can see the tower from my house) So if you're going to buy these monitors get them from some place where you can return them if you have the radio problem. Otherwise they're great for the price.

Great monitors for the price

By Kawika Heftel

from Provo, Utah

I have used these as the primary monitors in my recording studio for over two years. I am a little cramped for space in my studio - recording and control are in the same room - but I love these monitors. Great for the price.

Decent Speakers for Engineers on a Budget

By MWGouger2008

from San Jose, CA

I've had my issues with Behringer in the past. But I purchased a pair of these speakers on the recommendation of a colleague whose opinion I value. Plus, I have to keep my studio on a bit of a budget and the price was right. I have owned them for close to a year and I am very happy with the purchase. The title "Truth" is apt enough. In my small environment they are relatively accurate and were a significant improvement over what I had been using. They are bright and clean and don't under-deliver on the bottom end, which has been my issue with other monitors. Very important to make them the last link in the "power up" chain and the first link in the "shutdown phase." I've made a couple mistakes in the order in which I power up, but so far, they have withstood the abuse. I've had a couple other anomalies occur in which unwanted loud white noise was projected through operator error and they survived those occasions as well. For the hobbyist, student, or just an aspiring engineer on a budget they are worth the investment.

Great Monitors!

By Karma13

from Colorado

Ok there are a lot of people who will not settle for anything but the big names. But these monitors can stand up to some of them. Great tones lows and highs and can be cranked way up! These are hard to beat with this price and they do stand up. I have not had any issues with them and have test them in basements and in open areas and have not had any kind of radio interference that I have read in a couple reviews. Most the of that usually comes from the source recording and not the speakers.Feel free to spend more on one speaker if you have the cash flow, but you will not be disappointed with these. And if you have never owned any studio monitors then you will know none the better.Save the cash or buy your drummer a cymbal with the left overs and get these!

Radio interference fix

By Petro-tGCSA

from Halifax

I have had these monitors for about 4 years and have been dealing with serious radio interference the whole time. With Behringer giving no help fixing the problem I tried to fix them myself. I opened up the amp and as soon as I unplugged the power cord for the front lights (small cable running into cab) the interference was reduced by 90%. Took care of the rest using ferrite rings on the speaker cables. This voids your warranty but its easy to do and worked great for me.

Great product, great price!

By MusicDoc

from Sacramento, CA

I bought these monitors for my keyboard about a year ago and I am very happy with their performance. They sound so good that I bought another pair for my son who plays a Korg and he loves them too. Have had no problems at all. Great sounding monitors at a very reasonable price. You really can't go wrong with these.
