I use the DI-800 for my recording studio. I was a bit apprehensive since behringer can be hit and miss with their products. But for the price I decided to give it a try! The reason for me selecting the DI-800 is I use an eight bus recording console into a DAW using Nuendo3. Since being limited to eight busses, I thought "wouldn't it be great to have a bus quality output from the channel's direct out (Studio Master Mixdown CLassic 8 - 32 channel). The mixdown classic 8 direct out has a much lower signal out of the direct out vs. the bus out. This prompted me to do a product search on a DI rack-mountable box with a gain boost. The DI-800 has delivered beautifully with no noticeable noise increase or attenuation of signal highs. It was a total shock to me that such an inexpensive product could deliver such incredible return! I didn't know how to act when the unit totally surpassed my expectations! If you find yourself having the same "8 busses is just not enough" hurdles when recording live bands in your studio, I totally recommend this unit. I hope you have the same success I have with this almost priceless unit!

I bought the Behringer Ultra-di pro DI800 for the church because of the price and because it had 8 direct boxes built in. But when I took it to church and hooked it up the HISS & BUZZ comming out of the speakers was so LOUD that we could not use it. I tried lifting yhe grounds on all channels, there was no change. We are running stereo keys 4-guitars electronic drums and ALL channels where noisey.Had to take it back and bought 8 live wire direct boxes, paid a little more money but it was worth it. NO MORE BUZZ or HISS!!!!!!!!! P.S. I buy a lot of Behringer gear and this is the first time I have ever had a problem.

Comments about Behringer Ultra-DI PRO DI800:

Bought this unit over 2 years ago for my church. We installed it so that it does not move and so that no can see it. Not sure how it would do if it were conatantly moved, but in the application we are using it, it has worked flawlessly. It sure beats having the individual DI boxes that always seemed to last only about 6 months for us in the past. I would say we have definitely gotten our money's worth out of this unit.
Perfect for the price and for what we use it for at my church.

Excellent Direct Box!

Comments about Behringer Ultra-DI PRO DI800:

We have used this direct box in our church for over a year now. we run bass, 3 guitars, electronic drums and keyboards through it to the snake and then to the mixer. It has worked exceptionally well, no noise, no problems. I can't say how road worthy it is, as ours never moves, but it has certainly done the job for us for a great price.

Comments about Behringer Ultra-DI PRO DI800:

Bought this box for our church worship team about a year ago. Absolutely no problems, excess noise, or issues with the use. We run accoustic and electric guitars, bass, electric violin, and keyboard through it. The pad, boost, and ground lift are absolutely necessary and work great! We do get some 60hZ hum but that's not the DI's fault but a ground issue with our sanctuary. The box is a bit "light" and the buttons are small and stick out. I'd hate to see what would happen if it got dropped or dropped on.

Comments about Behringer Ultra-DI PRO DI800:

Bought this about two years ago. It developed a very bad grounding hum after about 7 months. So bad so that it cannot be used for anything. We bought this for our youth group, which was on a tight budget, and was taken very good care of because we couldn't afford a replacement. We bought several pieces of equipment from Behringer, this is the only one we had any problems with.

Installed two of these in a floor rack

By Weekendshooter

Comments about Behringer Ultra-DI PRO DI800:

We *know* we've got different grounds in our building so we simply installed two of these in a floor rack and Ta Daaaa ! Not only do we knock down the hum but we've greatly decluttered our stage setup of individual DIs and cables. The 20 db boost and 30 db pad are both very handy when setting mixer levels.

Comments about Behringer Ultra-DI PRO DI800:

Works as advertised. I have mine in a rack with PreSonus 26x26 and 2 FS8s for 24 tracks with ProTools in a roadcase. So far, no surprises other than great for the price. More convenient than single DI boxes, and the pad/gain combos are handy. Nice job Behringer!

    Couldn't live without it

Comments about Behringer Ultra-DI PRO DI800:

The great feature of this for me is the 20db boost which makes piezos and other low output pickups usable in conjunction with higher output sources. Very quiet. I rate the quality as only 6 stars because everything Behringer thing I buy seems to end up breaking sooner or later. This hasn't happened yet, but I won't be surprized if it does. Even so, it's still well worth the money. I amplify over thirty instruments -through four of these- simultaneously and these have reduced my noise floor by about 90%.

    Behringer scores again

    By Pajersky

Comments about Behringer Ultra-DI PRO DI800:

This is a really great direct box. I use it to help attach guitars to are sound board at church. Before we had a hard time hearing the vocals from the instruments, now with the Bheringer Ultra Pro direct box we can hear everything realy well. It also gave us back the headroom on the amps that we needed. A great product

Comments about Behringer Ultra-DI PRO DI800:

I replaced 7 direct boxes (4 drums, keys, bass, guitar) in our church praise band with this single unit in a rack on stage. It is so much less clutter and much safer and simpler for the musicians to set up. When we first plugged in, the level was much higher than the old boxes, but each channel has a -30db button that solves that, so we only needed minor gain adjustments in the mix. Very happy with the results.

Comments about Behringer Ultra-DI PRO DI800:

We had 7 DI boxes with XLR cables on stage for our praise band. I replaced these with the rack mount unit, and it's great. It looks clean, no boxes or extra cables, and easier for the band to set up and tear down - they just plug their instruments in to the rack.Especially good for the drummer who has 4 outputs.
The first time we plugged in, the signals were much hotter than the old boxes. I pushed in the Pad buttons and the levels are almost the same as before, so easy transition for me (the sound guy).

Comments about Behringer Ultra-DI PRO DI800:

Note that 1st unit received was defective, returned and replacement sent quickly. (Although backordered at first). I was immediately floored by the clean low noise and high gain audio I was receiving at the digital mixer. Buzz and hum issues were eliminated with the on board switch options. I run 4 keyboard sources-Motif ES8, Korg X50, Motif Rack, and MC505- currently, providing 8 outputs (4 stereo) to the stage box at gigs, or direct to a Soundcraft SI Performer 3 in my studio. Then also linked (Y out) out to a Roland KC-550 Keyboard Amp (8 channels).

This replaced (2) 4 channel passive units I've had for the last 10 years that finally started failing. I did purchase another DI800 that will sit in the same rack as my backup, as I'm still skeptical on how long the DI800 will last the road rigors. I don't gig more than a couple times a month currently, and the DI 800 will also be used in the studio, where the rig and rig-rack live.

All in all, I'm VERY impressed with this unit at this price. I actually wished it cost more, so that I was more confident that it was built "solidly" for travel. I'll write another review "down the road". ;)
