In my mind, a modern home studio should operate much like the massive modular synthasizers of old. Every output should be connected to every input, and with a handfull of these patchbays and some snakes an entire studio can find all its connections in a small area. No more running around the studio to change signl routing paths. All in all a must for any home studio setup that has a lot of hardware to be connected to eachother.

I've had bad experiences with Behringer equipment before. You would think I'd learned my lesson, but I figured "how could someone screw up something as simple as a patchbay"?. Well, they did! This is the worst audio design I've seen in years. This "patchbay" is nothing more than a bunch of card-mounted individual jacks placed in a rack box. They are not secured in the box AT ALL. The first time you pull the rack out of your patch bay the entire assembly falls apart! What were these people thinking when they designed this?! I duct taped it back together for temp. use, then returned it. Behringer continues their reputation of poor design and shoddy quality. It will be the last product I ever buy from them - I recommend you follow suit, no matter HOW cheap the price is!

good bay, need to cut jumpers tho

By sscannon

from Florida

This bay is built well, and works as described. Unfortunately, it isn't described very well in the manual. It turns out they don't exactly tell you how to break normals and change configurations. Flipping the modules isn't enough, you must pull them out and physically cut the jumpers. Just so you know. Otherwise, if that doesn't scare you, it's a great bay. I own 13 of them.

I bought 3 for my studio. The direx for the modes are worthless basicly, but then I decided to take it apart. I saw on here that someone else had mentioned cutting jumpers.. Well, after looking at them and seeing where on the circuts and cutting all 3 bays woth of jumpers... These things are sweet. Excellent value for their price. im buying 2 more.

poor quality

By SEFSTRAT (Steve)

This patchbay was virtually unusable at times; the jacks are cheap and we experienced a lot of intermittent contact (using it in a live drive rack to interface with the sound mixing board). This thing is junk...

well ...

It does what it is supposed to .. but .. as mentioned before, you have to cut jumpers to get modes to standardize and whatnot .. however ... my biggest beef with this unit isn't the jumper cutting, it's the fact that it screws up your rack-mounting. It's JUST a bit to big to fit right, and reaks havock on anything next to it in the rack - on top of that, when you unscrew the GIANT rack screws/nuts that come with it, the whole thing falls apart. Shouldn't there be some kind of latch??? Shouldn't this fit nicely in a rack like ALL 1U components should?Overall, this unit is good for the money, but if it's your FIRST patch bay, I wouldn't recommend the hassle and rack-commitment.

Falls apart

You get what you pay for. Jacks that don't work, intermittent contacts, falls apart in your hands. A waste.

I'm shocked by how well-built and yet, inexpensive this patchbay is. Connections are all solid and feel smooth when patching in and out... Can't believe what a good deal it is. Tempted to pick up a second one and put it in storage, for future use!

Good Deal, One Small Problem

By DW

Overall, I would say this patchbay is a good deal, just so long as you know the looming secret. It is true that this patchbay will FALL COMPLETELY APART if you remove the two included rackmount screws at the same time. Just be careful when mounting it, and just take it one screw at the time, and everything will be fine!!! Works great!!
